D= .... I wish I can take advantage of features like this, but... fawk. I don't really feel like linking this mule account to my Facebook account.. =/ So of course, I'm missing out on stuff, I suppose...

..... That, and I'm not sure if many of my friends even use Gaia much... D= And they won't be able to find me through Facebook since I can't/won't connect my accounts.. @_@ ..... Buuuuuuuuhhhhh...

I find it embarrassing to even be on Gaia. Connecting it to Facebook will make you a target for ridicule.

I would rather post pictures of myself naked than connect Gaia to a Facebook(I don't have one yet, but since I may get on for business purposes....).

... why is it embarrassing to be on Gaia?

Really? You seriously don't see what other people see?

"Hi, I'm 24, and I'm on Gaia! I'm totally not a *****. And I'm such a loser not to go to a website with a more mature audience. Come join me so we can not be ***** together on this terribly designed, money-grabbing site! Oh, and bring your parents' credit card so we can buy Gaia Cash and play dress up with our dolls/avatar!"

People are superficial. They talk behind your back. Try as you might to differentiate yourself from the crowd, but it'll all be futile because you still are using a site with a bunch of 10-year-olds and that is how everyone who doesn't use Gaia will see it.

It's like you playing a Hello Kitty game on Xbox Live and getting achievements but not wanting other people know you're playing the game. Why? Because it is embarrassing.

Would you honestly recommend someone to this site? Why am I even explaining the obvious?

I connected my Gaia and Facebook, but nearly all my friends, IRL and online, are on Gaia or know about it so it's not like it looks like I'm weird for being on it. However, I am a bit embarrassed about Gaia now. Why? Not because of my age. Because of what the site has become. There was a time when I would tell a lot of people about Gaia and try to get them to join and not think twice about it. I was younger, sure. I joined when I was seventeen and I'm twenty three now. But that isn't really the change that makes me not bother telling people about Gaia. It is because of how everything on here is "give us money" and "go buy Skittles or tampons or see this movie". Really, WTF? What are people going to think when they sign up and see that mess? And don't get me started on the community which is s**t. It's like a glorified Myspace now. Everyone who joins seems to be fourteen or younger, and nothing they say ever makes any sense. People don't see the cool guilds when they sign up. They see the Chatterbox or the GD or any number of horrible public forums. And they see all the items that require real money, some that are ridiculously expensive. If I'm going to suggest someone to join an avatar community, it will be one of the other ones I am on and not Gaia. And when friends or family from my Facebook ask me about Gaia, I tell them like it is, that I'm not real thrilled with the site anymore and I'm mainly here because I have friends on here I chat with.

I'm a part time troll here. My post in the forums at times is like a separate identity.

Yeah... Ano's pretty much on the money with my reasoning as well.

I've said it enough, I only participate on gaia in this guild (and twice on the gaia exchange to get an item). The stigma of this place is enough to prevent me from broadcasting my participation, let alone the numerous faults of the site that we all know of.

That and I don't use my facebook account.

Well, what Ano says is true. somehow Gaia seemed like a more adult site when I joined, or maybe i was too young (probably). Meh, I seriously don't care what people think, but for some reason the conection didn't work so I'm not gonna bother myself with it.

I'm sure we all don't care what other people think on an individual basis, but when you broadcast it on Facebook, everyone will see you in a strange light.

And like Hiroy, I usually just use the forums to act stupid, often posting with large caps and internet memes up the wazoo. I would like to think it would be a place for intelligent people to act retarded for the fun of it, but that's a guilty pleasure I wouldn't want to be sharing with other people.

I actually thought of something as far as being embarrassed about broadcasting Gaia all over Facebook. Facebook has all those silly little apps and games that people get into. When I've got people over fifty playing Farmtown and things like that, I don't worry too much about playing Gaia. XD I don't know how it is for everyone else, but nearly everyone on my list regardless of what age group they're in has some sort of updates all over their wall about what they did on their farm or with their pet or whatever it is that they play. The only thing that makes those games less embarrassing than Gaia is that they don't really have much of a community. You can go and talk to people in a public area but it's not as extensive. There are a lot of noobs on them though so I guess it is almost as bad.

Nearly everyone on my Facebook has zero apps. We only see it as a way of keeping up to date on what everyone is up to, and is used mainly as a tool for communication or setting up events. And that is what I like about the way we use Facebook: Clean and simple without all the... filler stuff. I don't mind it being there really, but it's not how I (we) roll.

That's what I generally use it for, but at the same time, I have frickin' tons of invites to a bunch of apps on Facebook from various people, and it's... just rather annoying. D= That being said, about the only thing I enjoy doing on Facebook at the moment is playing Popcap's Bejeweled Blitz. XD That version of Bejeweled is better than Bejeweled 2 besides the fact that it only lasts 1 minute. But that's fine by itself since you're competing for higher scores in the allotted time.

Aaaanyway, in that sense, a good majority of the people I have friended has a bunch of weird things like app updates regarding Mafia Wars or FarmTown and other things. Probably better than the half-assed stuff when these Apps started showing up on Facebook, but still nothing more than some time wasters online now. D= So.. I could care less if people see that I'm on Gaia and what not. If people ask, I'd just tell them that I've been on here for years, and that I'm still here for my friends predominantly. That it's my preferred social networking site.

I usually check facebook like once a month when I get an e-mail saying "Someone found you in a picture" or whatever. When I go on, I also have a ton of app and group invites. I just delete them all.

Someone at work was talking about this farmtown thing today. First I've heard of it, but it's not as cool as Harvest Moon. razz

Why not be more embarrassed of Facebook than Gaia? Or, is that not possible?

Probably not.
