The cubs had gotten larger and were still as blood thirsty as ever. Not literally but figuratively. At least Lucianus was among those who fought hard for his mothers affection. He'd been practicing his public face for quite some time now and his arrogant mask was becoming easier to stay on more and more as it drove deeper into his heart.

He was slowly becoming that mask he had created as the cub and slowly destroying him self. Or rather, his mothers conditional love was destroying him.

But did Lucian really care or give a damn was the question. The answer lately was no. He was for the pride, by the pride and would die for the pride. A loyal citizen still fresh from the mold of the society they had been born for them.

Atia, to say the least, had done a very good job in shaping her little boy.

Now he sat, silently, at the lake washing his paws after some intense training.

Amaranta had left the same training that her brother had, it had been particularly difficult and she had actually struggle and was feeling rather upset that she had been seen as anything less then perfect. Being a member of the family she was though this just meant she was going to have to work harder, train more.

She sauntered on down towards the waters edge where she was counting on relaxing her muscles a bit before setting back to work, possibly she would work her on her public face a little bit this afternoon. She froze when she came over the hill towards the lake and she saw one of her brother's laying there, she was automatically put off she didn't want to have to listen to his speeches now, not so soon after her embarrassment.

The leopard juve hadn't noticed his sister approaching. He was basking in his own satisfaction of a days work well done. Today had been a good day for training.

Now the question if it had been up to Atia's standards or not... nothing was up that high. But he felt good about the effort he'd put forth. For one, he hadn't gotten corrected and that was a good sign. At least he hoped it was.

Atia was hard to please. Scratch that, near impossible. One could never tell what she was thinking behind those eyes of hers.

Amaranta sat thinking for a minute, she had two options go to her brother and say hello, or try to sneak away. She knew that if she said hello that she may have to listen to his teasing and speaches about success. However if she tried to sneak away and he spotted her, it would be even worse. Then she would have shown weakness even more so and that she was afraid of her brother. Not that she was afraid of him, but there would be no convincing him of that if she was caught.

With all these thoughts barreling through her mind she pasted a smile on her face, and sauntered towards her brother, "Well hello there Luc. good job in training." she figured leading with a compliment would butter him up and hopefully he would be a little easier on her.

Lucian cringed at the nick name 'Luc' and the fact that his sister felt the need to come up to him like she had. The male didn't like most anyone and he really didn't like most of his siblings at this point. Getting older was starting to harden his soft spots.

"Ama.." He grinned practicing his pleasantries. Lucian knew his sister had troubles with todays training but he didn't bring it up. The juve knew better then to start a war with one of his siblings. They were all Atia's children and that meant that they all were well practiced at getting back at some one who disgraced them.

Though if she said something, he would bring it up. So instead he gloated, which was almost equally as bad.

"You see mother didn't correct me once today.." He looked at one of his paws looking at his nails as if he was bored. Similar to that a human would do.

Amaranta cringed slightly, her brother seemed to have been working on being civil, something that perhaps she needed more time on a lot of the time. He was kind enough not to bring up her failures right away, but he couldn't talk about how well he had done. It was more insulting in away because only someone smart would have caught it as an insult, so either her brother thought she was stupid, or he knew exactly what he was doing.

She smiled though, in the spirit of being civil, but that smile quickly turned to a coy, smile as the wheels turned in the little leopardess' head. "Yes you did quite well, I think it was perhaps one of the first times mother never corrected you in lessons." While this was true or not, Amaranta was hoping it would get her brothers blood boiling.

She stretched her legs and slid into a laying down position hoping that her relaxed state might further bother her brother.

(( Had trouble getting into Lucians character for a small while ^ ^" ))
Lucian lowered a brow at her for a split second. Anger seethed threw his eyes as daggers shot out toward his sister. How dare she insult him while he was gloating. How dare she.

"I know I did quite well," His lips were curled and fangs were out. Lucianus's mask had shattered and his monster showed. He was quick to anger and it was a fault of his.

The leopard almost turned his back on his sister and stalked out but he wasn't ready to call it quits. Not yet.

Amaranta watched her brother storm away, she wasn't stupid enough to think that he wouldn't come back. She knew her brother, he was much like herself, neither would back down from a fight like this one. She wondered to herself if picking this fight was the right thing to do this time.

She studied him, wondering what her next move should be, she moved into a sitting position, Luc usually wasn't one for a physical fight as far as she knew, but she didn't want to be caught off guard. "Oh I don't deny that you did well TODAY" she answered in response, she had already gone this far, might as well drive it home.

The blue juve let his fangs flash again in his frustration. He wanted to go for her throat so bad right then, wanted to so bad. Though the thought of Atias punishment style was enough to have him not do anything. Atia didn't mind competition, in fact she was the leading cause of it in their family, but she was not tolerant of mindless violence.

One had to be practical and not a reactionary. Still, Lucian seethed. He was so mad.

"I do well every day," He turned his back on his sister for real this time. She won this round even if she hadn't done well in training today. She had won and gotten to Lucian.

The blue leopard knew this as he padded else where. Maybe he'd find a small rabbit to take his anger out on. Just anything to get away from Ama.

Amaranta sat for a minute, it was confusing for her, she had an urge to follow her brother, further this fight. She knew it was immature to do it but she chased after her brother, she was going to bother him more, she had to get her frustration out from today's lesson going so bad.

"Hey wait. Who gave you permission to leave my presences." she yelled at him, she was angry that he hadn't given this fight more of an effort. How dare he she though, she was running full speed head ducked she wanted to close the gap between her and her brother.

Lucian stopped and stared at her. Was she really running after him? It annoyed the juve but he put on his mask again.

"Hmmm dear sister? Who'd ever want to leave your side. You're just so nice and charming I wouldn't dream of leaving you.." His tone was sarcastic and a bit snarky.

Okay so he was being childish too.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 30, 2009 12:41 pm

Amaranta took his tone in stride, she wasn't going to let him get the best of her... well anymore than he already had.

"Exactly my point brother dearest, I am very pleasent to be around, compared to many others an absolute dream you could say. I am glad you have come to recognize that." she smiled slyly.

She had honestly began to loose interest in this little tif they had been having, but didn't want to be the one to back down first, perhaps she should have just let him waltz away when he had chosen to but that would have been too simple and when did she ever like things simple.

She sat cleaning herself for a moment, purring lightly, she didn't have anything to say to her brother really but she hoped her wasting his time would be enough to spark something in him.

Ama wasting his time had annoyed him but he had swallowed it. The big question was why she was still wasting his time. Lucian was still as silent as he'd ever be washing his paws.

He wanted to swipe at her and yell, but he wasn't going to. Namely because he was sure mother would disown him if he, or any of the cubs, ever scared each other. After all it would probably discredit mother if they behaved in such a manor.

"Amara.." He began, "Why are you still here?" His eye twitched ever so slightly from behind his perfect mask.

Amaranta yawned lightly, having grown bored with her plan, then smiled her plan became all the much better when she realized her next moved, "You know brother I am really not sure what I am doing here anymore, you are boring me."

Amaranta rose to her feet and yawned again, stretching. "I suppose I will see you around brother dearest." she turned her back on her brother, completely unconcerned about whether or not her brother might attack her. She smiled to herself while she walked away humming a tune to herself. She felt much better about her poor performance in training.

Lucian watched her go off. He didn't want to stop her. He just watched from afar.
