I just cant seem to stop feeling morning sickness...even when I try to find something to eat just looking at food, even on TV makes me sick. I also have a real big problem, I wake up and im about to throw up, i dont even have time to take my promethazine (morning sickness medicine) to get over the feeling, because the feeling is so strong. The doctor says throwing up can be realy bad because it leads to miscarages. I know its all apart of being pregnant, but can someone sugest something for me please?

I don't know what quack doctor you have...but uh...

"An increased level of NVP was associated with decreased risk of miscarriage (p < 0.01). Although there was no association between NVP and threatened miscarriage" NVP = Nausea and vomiting during Pregnancy.

SOURCE: http://www.nvp-volumes.org/p1_7.htm

So don't stress out about the puking. The baby doesn't feel it. Just like when you get a cold while pregnant the baby doesn't get it either.

Have you tried certain sents and foods? Ginger and Lemon are both known natural stomach settlers. You can eat Ginger snaps, ginger tea. They even make this AWESOME lemon scented lotion now at Bath and Body works.

You might also want to try nibbling on some saltines while you are up gonig pee or getting a drink of water in the middle of the night.

There are other things that can increase feeling sick like drinking WHILE you eat. No seriously I'm not joking. If you drink your drink while you are eating it can make you feel worse.

It's a vicious cycle. You feel like crap so you don't eat and then your empty stomach gets all burbly and you feel even worse so then you SERIOUSLY don't want to eat. I used to Fall apart when I got pregnant if I didn't have a steady stream of something to nibble practically. My head would hurt my stomach would hurt I'd get pallid and shakey. It's just very very good for you to TRY your damndest to get some food in.

Even if all you are eating is top ramen with a bit of soy sauce or something it'll help to quell the uprising in your stomache. Identify foods that don't automatically make you retch and sorta live on them for awhile.

I totally understand the seeing food and wanting to puke thing. Just a whiff of cooking ham and I'd be gaggin.

That's the key, STAY HYDRATED.

There's research in Europe that suggests that morning sickness is actually a sign of a healthy baby... if Abbi is any indication, it's true. She was 8 pounds, 6 ounces when she was born and I spent 12 weeks puking my guts up!

Some things that helped me... ginger tea (it's nasty, but I wasn't puking!), Ritz crackers (saltines actually made me more sick!), just keeping my tummy full generally. ^.^

how i usually get over morning sickness is sipping on sprite. i keep a glass and a 2 liter in the bathroom. but then again food doesnt make me sick, its that i am in my alergy season and i constantly have a runny nose. and it runs into my stomach when im sleeping. but sprite works really good for me!

cottage chesse worked really well for me when I had morning sickness. Also remember to eat several small portions and not big meals all at once. I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry this has nothing to do with your problem but...

You were prescribed promethazine by your doc? It's ok to take? I was in the doc about morning sickness liek symptoms but they say I'm not pregnant (I don't beleive it) they gave me prometazine but I was afraid to take it because of the possible baby.

Again I'm sorry, but good luck working things out. Maybe take your pill before you ahve to wake up, like set another alarm and take the pill in the middle of the night.

I would have to say that sprite and saltines worked for me when I had morning sickness. I think I had all-day sickness though. I would constantly be on the urge of throwing up if I wasn't sipping that soda or had a cracker. Just the smell of food, any food would send me over the edge, and I was a manager at a resturant at the time! gonk I hope you feel better and know that in the end it would be all worth it. biggrin
