It had started out the kind of day that left T'ren feeling lazy and uninspired. Not that this was different from any other day, really- but he was feeling exceptionally ready to do nothing productive. In fact, the moment he could he nearly fled the Weyr to lounge around the hot springs just outside.

The water is nice, Mine.

"It is, isn't it?" T'ren agreed. He watched Chaveth lounge in the shallower end of the spring contently, and he smiled. Ahh... this was what it was about. All ready in the water, T'ren waded over and sat down to laze against the Green's thigh. They were both half submerged in the hot water, and all the steam was making him sleepy. Maybe a nap wouldn't be half bad...

I am moving, the green interrupted, and abruptly shifted. T'ren was dozing when he fell back into the water with an undignified splash.

"What was that for!" he sputtered, jumping up. There was water up his nose! Shards, that hurt.

Chaveth looked unruffled by this. A nap in the water isn't good- she stopped abruptly to crane around to look behind her. Was someone coming? She thought she could tell. T'ren followed her gaze in curiosity, dripping wet.

And indeed, there is someone coming. Another green and her rider are making way to the relaxing idea of hot water and steam after some wing drills.

Mine! Look, D'iant mine, there's somebody here. Without waiting even a second, Tinnuth creens a happy greeting to her fellow green. Hello! I am Tinnuth! Perhaps they could have a nice chat while taking their break.

D'iant glances towards the rider and dragon pair, himself.. and takes note of them. Either that rider is lazy, or just really enjoying a nice break from training and working. Hopefully it would be the latter and there wouldn't be any fuss about it. He gives a wave of his own to echo Tinnuth's greeting.

Unfortunately it wasn't the latter. But T'ren was a cheery sort, and even dripping and undignified he could see an opportunity to make friends. He waved back.

"Chilly day out t'day!" he called to the other man casually, and sat back down in the hot water. Chaveth, however, was more excited at the prospect of meeting another dragon.

Tinnuth! I am Chaveth, she crooned eagerly. She splashed her tail in the water, beckoning the other Green in.
Come in the water! It feels warm and nice.

D'iant waits for Tinnuth to reach not-yelling distance before he chances a reply. No need to yell and let someone else hear a conversation if they didn't need to, right? "It's only chilly if you are slow moving enough to let it effect you. As long as it isn't the coldness of Between, I don't mind it much myself." But the steam rising from the water was anything if inviting.

Tinnuth returns the croon happily, coming near the water's edge as she can without diving in, or throwing D'iant into it (even if such thing had been tempting a few times in their youth). Chaveth. I haven't met you before! Such a happy prospect too! Once free from D'iant's immediate company, she strides into the warm water with as little splashing as she can manage. You're right! Very warm and nice.

"Can't argue with that," he said cheerfully, though that was pretty much a lie. T'ren was resilient to the cold, having grown up in the Weyr- but he still didn't like it. He gestured for D'iant to come in.

"What's your name, friend? I'm T'ren." D'iant looked familiar, but he didn't remember who he was exactly. He wasn't too good with faces.

Chaveth, on the other hand, was preoccupied with the other Green. Oh, it had been awhile since she'd met someone new! You are a pretty green! Mine is fond of the color- I think it is his favorite. Whether this was true or not was a mystery, but Chaveth liked to think so. She knew she could pull the truth out of Hers.

"And I can't argue the idea of breaking somewhere warm either when it gets chill." D'iant nods once, more just to acknowledge the fact. Cold wasn't a bad thing, but he did prefer the warmth when he could take it. It also helped that Tinnuth preferred to be warm, herself.

"My name's D'iant. Hm, we've probably met in passing in the dining hall once before possibly?" Probably, seems like you'd see a new face every time you entered the dining hall these days. Most of them were probably new candidates though, or transferred riders. He'd not met any of those personally yet, only heard they were there.

Tinnuth gives a dragon grin and a happy creen along with it. You are a pretty green too! And if green is your rider's favorite, there can't be anything wrong with him at all. Oh, no, especially if the color green really was his favorite. Yours must be very good at treating your hide too, your scales are so polished. Always nice to share compliments among the other dragons, especially if they made themselves friends!

"D'iant, hm? Sounds familiar," another lie. D'iant really should have been familiar to him, considering how long T'ren had been a rider- but he was not. T'ren wondered if the man was in his wing.
"Possible," he agreed, and then paused dramatically. He flashed the man his best grin. "Ahhh... wait, I remember you."

What he remembered, exactly, was a mystery.

Thank you! she said happily. What a nice Green! If only all dragons were so nice. Mine takes good care of me, though he tends to talk too much and tell the truth too little. Chaveth turned to T'ren, isn't this right, T'renmine?

"Hem?" he turned to look at her, "What's right?"

That you run at the mouth.

T'ren choked on air. What was he supposed to say back to that? He chuckled nervously and turned back to D'iant, trying to pretend that Chaveth hadn't said anything at all.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 13, 2009 12:14 am

"It does then?" Perhaps in passing or some second-hand introductions at a dining table? Well perhaps it would come later when he wasn't thinking of it. That sort of thing happened far too often unfortunately. "Oh, so you do then?"

Tinnuth gives a cheerful nod and flicks her tail through the warm water. You are welcome Chaveth. Such a nice chta they were having. Oh, Yours likes to hear his voice? Is he like a Brown then? She gives a very wide dragon grin at this little joke. All Browns she'd sat long enough to listen to bragged over themselves, their skills, Theirs, anything.

D'iant can't help but look between the pair of greens and his current company. "Should I ask what that's about, or leave it be."

"No," T'ren said immediately, frazzled by the random, obtuse comments Chaveth liked to drop in conversation. "I'm not even sure what it's about, myself. I find it's better not t'ask."
At this he spread out in the water, swimming for the deeper end- in a way, escaping anymore awkward conversations that might spring up. "Race you to the other side!"

Chaveth on the other hand, was enjoying her company immensely. Even worse, she thinks happily, and her tail mimic's Tinnuth's in the shallows.
Mine is like a Bronze. because Bronzes, of course, were also notorious for being self absorbed. If Chaveth could have laughed, she would. Instead she settled for contentment.

Is Mine similar to Yours?
PostPosted: Sat Oct 17, 2009 10:51 pm

D'iant takes that answer. "Fair enough." It was hard to make out just what Tinnuth was on about sometimes, so he could see that reasoning well enough. Wait a moment.. "Race, why?"

Mine is like a Blue. Tinnuth nods to this. She seems to grin though at looking over towards their riders.. probably picturing T'ren like a Bronze now while pondering over Hers. Yes, Blue did suit him. He doesn't like to boast but he doesn't like to be looked down on when he has something to say. Mine doesn't talk much unless he does have to say it.

T'ren stopped a ways away when he realized that D'iant wasn't following, and he turned around with an owlish look. To someone like T'ren- who was built on the notion of fun and play- it was baffling that the other rider didn't immediately join in.

"What do you mean, 'why'?" he asked, like D'iant was one glow short of a basket. For fun, why else?

I understand, Chaveth thought, observing Tinnuth's rider with a truthful eye. He was sort of like that, wasn't he? Not like Hers, who was loud and chatty and yes... even obnoxious, at times. Yours is very quiet. Does he talk to you, much? T'renmine talks all the time... it's hard to get him to stop.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 19, 2009 9:06 am

"I mean why. There's no point in a race, it's not a training session. Why waste energy on racing through water when there isn't a reason behind it?" D'iant gives him a blank look, frowning as if the thought of doing it was even distasteful.

Tinnuth stretches a wing before settling it back down again to stay in the comfortable, warm water. Mine talks to me if he is in a mood or wants advice over what the wingleader's suggestions are. At that, she preens a bit. If the wingleader isn't doing something right, I can tell and Mine doesn't follow those rules until they're changed and work right. She was very proud of that, too. That Hers would take her word over the leader of their wing and call them out on it even sometimes. No shiny bronze could boss her around when he was wrong, not any day!

... Hm. Well that just put a dampen on all his fun, didn't it? D'iant must be one of those serious, no nonsense types. T'ren frowned as well, and came back over to the shallower parts of the spring.

"I s'pose because it's fun," he grumbled sourly. T'ren was a pretty friendly sort, but his patience was not incredibly long, and while a liar he was very prone to being surly when not getting his way. Once sitting on the shallow shelf, he kicked grumpily at the water.

And then he got an idea. With terrible precision, T'ren splashed water in D'iant's direction, hoping to get the man wet.

Chaveth could agree with that- she was used to skipping work with Hers, after all. Do you tell them that their rules are wrong? It's good to tell them the truth, she gives a dragon's nod. The truth was always important. Even if people didn't want to hear it, but pah- everyone wants to hear the truth!

D'iant does not look moved at all by new displeasure, and that sour look from T'ren. "Fun? Well I suppose, but we get enough work like that in wing training. Why not spend the free time relaxed." Or going over other plans and the rules to be in place for such plans.

So lost in this short span of thoughts, D'iant didn't see the water headed his way until it smacked him, head on to leave his hair dripping and nice, dry clothes wet. "Watch where you're sending that water!"

Tinnuth nods easily, not missing a beat. Oh, yes. We do tell them. They don't always listen though, Bronzes and their pride. But we can't follow a rule that isn't right, then things could go wrong! And things going wrong was such a terrible worry. Who knew how hard it would be to set them right again before something really bad happened all because of a bad rule?

Watch where he was sending the water? What kind of a response was that? Shards, this man was as fun as a grumpy candidate stuck peeling tubers in the kitchen. T'ren quirked a brow, and shrugged. He didn't care at all if D'iant was wet.

"Take off your clothes if you don't like it! We're at a spring after all," he replied sulkily, "C'mon in and enjoy the water all ready."

Yes, exactly! Chaveth's tail flicked again, and she stretched out in the nice, hot water. She liked Tinnuth greatly all ready. Though I do not worry about following rules so much. It is fine, as long as you admit that you don't want to follow them. What kind of logic that was, was a mystery. Chaveth's logic, no doubt. If only Hers would follow the same train of thought...
