It was just a gorgeous day out! The green mare had traveled long and far, and just recently she had reached a new, beautiful piece of land that held water everywhere. Seriously, there was so much water that she couldn't even see the end of it! Zareth would love it here, Kireina thought cheerily to herself as she trotted through the white sand. Smells a bit odd though. Curious, she made her way over to the surf for a taste, but she quickly spit the water back out. "Ick! ... Not good for drinking," she muttered to herself, shaking her head strongly. "I'll have to remember that."

User Image Hektor was now getting use to living in the wild with another. It was a lifestyle very different from his home. He would often wonder over to the beach and walk along the shore thinking about everything that had passed in his life. He loved the smell of the sea and some times he hoped he might see one of the great ships that he used to ride on to war with his master. He was his own master now. He was free to do and go where ever he wanted. He was growing quite content with the freedom he now had.

As he was walking he noticed a green mare ahead drinking the sea water. He yelled to her, "Don't Drink" but than noticed she spit it out right away. He trotted over to her. "Don't taste good, make sick. Do you need water?"

"Ah, that's ok, I- Whoa." The mare had still been staring scrutinizingly at the icky water when the stallion had first approached, but as soon as she looked up at him she was in aw. "What is all of that?" she asked in wonder, eyes trailing down his neck and back. It was absolutely gorgeous, and it suited his coloration quite well.

Realizing that she was gawking, Kireina cleared her throat and glanced away with a faint blush. "Ah, sorry about that. Um, my name is Kireina. What is yours?" She had to remember some manners, even with the mystery of the pretty shinies before her.

Hektor was at first bewildered by the mares reaction to him, but than realized that his armor made him stand out, and was unique even among the captive kirin.

*Hektor Bowed* "Is ok, I Hektor".

*He shook his head* "This armor, from master"

It was the only physical reminder that he had of his past and it was as much a part of him as anything else. It was starting to get a bit dirty though has he had no one to take care of it.

"From master?" Kireina echoed, a bit confused. "Who or what is a 'master'?" The mare had never heard of such a thing before, but perhaps this was not entirely unusual. There was still much of the world that she had not seen after all. "Anyway, it's definitely good to meet you, Hektor. I haven't actually met that many other Kirin before." Even with her constant traveling, the green mare did not have much luck in the way of companionship. This didn't bother her too greatly though, for she always found ways to keep herself busy and entertained.

How would he explain to the mare. He had actually never gone into the story before. He gave it a try.

"Master is human, but dead now. I be free kirin now, not owned. Very nice meet you too. I still learn how to be wild, so good meet others. You no others?"

He was genuinely glad to meet another kirin for he had not had nothing much too new happen to him in a little while, and was still curious as to what this new world contained.

"Just a few," Kireina answered with a smile, her tail swishing contently behind her. "What is this 'human' thing though? And how does one go about 'owning' another?" The mare always had a very curious streak about her, so she had a tendency to ask many questions.

Hektor noticed that this mare was very relaxed with him. Champe had not been quite so relaxed. He liked the ease of conversation with her.

"human is two leg animal little fur, very rare here. Live across water." He points with his horn towards the vast endlessness of the sea.

"Own is like foal, have be cared for, but even adult. Very different"

He wasn't sure she would understand, but he wasn't too worried. He felt relaxed around her and was pleased that she cared to ask about him. Now his curiosity was starting to take over.

"Never seen Kireina before, not live here? Never seen Sea before...that why drink water?"

Cared for even as an adult? The idea seemed a bit strange to her at first, but then again maybe it wasn't. Perhaps a "master" was just like a really really good friend and you would look after each other. That's how Kireina rationalized it in her mind anyway. At his question the mare smiled and shook her head. "Nope, I travel all around. This is my first time seeing this place. The "sea" you call it? Why does the water taste so bad here?" Her face scrunched up slightly at the remembrance of the taste that still lingered in her mouth. "Lake water tastes just fine and that's usually pretty big water too."

Hektor actually didn't know why the water tasted so bad. He actually had never even tried drinking the water, as his master had never stopped at it for a drink, even during the long marches on the shores of the sea. "Don't know why taste bad, maybe cause sand? Sea lot bigger than lake, takes many sun circles to cross."

"Do you like travel so much, see many things?"

Hektor actually wondered what the world was like, he had traveled a lot but not so much of this land, and not very much at all since he lost his master.

"Maybe..." Kireina replied, looking at the sea thoughtfully at his suggestion about the sand. "Wait, you've crossed the sea before? How could you possibly swim for so long?" the mare couldn't even imagine trying to swim for that many days!

At his second inquiry she turned her attention back to him with a smile and a nod. "Yes, I absolutely love traveling. There's just so much world out there to see! I never find it boring. Everywhere I go things are different from each other- plants and animal life included." It took a while to travel from place to place, but the adventure was definitely worth it in her mind.

"I've crossed sea many times. Not by swimming, by floating tree." Hektor never found it any easier to describe things from back home. Everything was just so much different, there were not words for things he saw.

"I want to travel. Follow me home, meet champe. Almost dark"

A floating tree? That sounded rather interesting. Kireina had an image in her mind of a giant tree floating through the water with a Kirin standing atop of it. She very nearly asked him where to find these "floating trees" when the stallion brought up another Kirin's name. "Champe? Alright," she agreed with a smile, following after him. She always enjoyed meeting new Kirin, and now was no exception. "Lead the way then."

"Follow...I think Champe like you"

With that Hektor lead Kireina into the forest to place he now calls home.

I think this is a good stopping point. I will start a new thread to involve pigtails as well.
