he looks like he has burn marks on him. the temps in the tank are fine and he isnt acting like he is in pain and there has been zero aggression in my tank ever since my other ram died. the only thing i can think of is that maybe he touched the ehater for too long but he seems too smart to do that. it looks like its healed over so it probably happened a few days ago or something. its on the side he usually hides from people when they want to watch him.
is there anything i should be doing for him? and any ideas on what happened? my usual day temp in the tank is about 80. ive been using a digital thermometer with a probe to measure the temps

If it's already healed, then I'd say you don't need to do anything. If he has any open wounds, salt would help keep it from getting infected. I've never heard of a fish getting burned yet, but I'm sure it can happen. Maybe set your thermometer down a few degrees, I keep mine at 76, and as I mentioned before, sometimes my pleco sucks herself to it and she has yet to get burns. You'd have to do that slowly though, down a degree once every couple of days, just in case.

ive never even thought of my pleco sitting on it gonk my fear of the heater is back once again thanks to you XD i feel terrible for not noticing it sooner.
and ill lower the temps a bit. i had it in the upper 70s before but then raised it up to about 80 and all my fish became so much more active, but ill lower it again.

I like a happy medium in the upper 70's. My fish are active, but it's not too hot and no one gets burned. If someone's got a wound or parasites/bugs, I raise it up to 80 while I'm treating.
