It was a warm autumn day. The sun was shinning on the cooling waters of a bay. The waters might seem chilly to most but it was home of a number of undine Katorai. Sitting atop a small pier sat a brightly colored male Katorai. His bright yellow skin was covered with teal and blue patterns. His bright duel colored eyes scanned the waters looking for a friend. He didn't know who he was looking for because he did not know anyone but he thought he might as well look to the waters to find one like him but they were too still not even fish seemed to be wanting to say hello to him. It seemed that it was going to be another long loney day for the brightly colored male.

It was warm, but not nearly warm enough for Sabbath, he hated the cold. It was probably time to start moving south, he traveled a lot never staying in one place for very long, he spent the days of his life searching, looking for.... something. Unnamed. His pale eyes scanned the area, a bay, it was rather nice, if it was summer he could even be tempted to go for a swim, instead he tread across the rocky ground towards an area with a pier, not really paying attention to if there was anyone else around, walking down to the water's edge and testing the temperature with his feet. "Gah~" Yea, much to cold for swimming. He let out a soft sigh and looked out across the water, it was then he spotted the brightly colored male on the pier. He waved, always the friendly sort, and looked back and forth before climbing up to walk the length of the wooded planks. He approached the other at a slow stride, and when he reached the end he sat. "You live here?" He gave a slow grin, "Must be nice, it seems very calm."

The patch pelted male let his legs dangle, he appeared torn up and stitched back together, but that was just an illusion of his pelt, really he was more torn up inside than out, though his appearance was travel worn, he was healthy and in good shape.

The sudden sound of movement along the creaky peir cause Keenile to jump pretty high. He turned quickly and as his eyes fell on another Katorai his bright cheeks darkened with blush. The blush seeing to darken and make more noticeable the ancient pattern tattooed and dyed on his cheek. He never thought that his sitting and day dreaming for a friend would actually work and make one appear out of thin air. He watched quietly as the other approached him and sat down.

It took a moment for the bright Undine Katorai to find his voice but when he did he smiled softly. "Yes I like here. It is nice though hardly anyone comes here any more. They was a time when so many undine Katorai ran and played here but it seems they have all left. Leaving me alone...until now. Though I do not think you are Undine are you?" His voice was gentle and soft almost like a brooke flowing by. His duel eyes scanned over the other male. Seeing so many 'wounds' made him wonder at what this stranger must have lived through. He slowly, though with some difficultly removed his eyes from the patterns and 'scars' of the other to look back out over the water. "I think it is too could for most other Katorai to enjoy the water here too...so I was a bit shocked to have someone else come by. I...I am sorry I am talking to much." Just as his blush at started to fade it hit again this time with embarrassment instead of excitement.

Sabbs gave a sheepish grin because the other male jumped, he hadn't meant to sneak up on him. Sabbath shook his head in response to the query, "Naw, just your average run of the mill type of guy. Hey, don't worry about it, dude, you've got no one ta talk to and then someone appears? Course ya wanna chat, 's why I came invited myself to sit, hope ye don't mind. Oh, name's Sabbath, by the way." He looked out across the water again, "Maybe they'll come back soon? Maybe in the spring, I know I'd like ta be around these parts again when it warms back up. Seems it'd be beautiful, not that it ain't now. Listen ta me, now I'm just ramblin' on and on. Yer not the only one that hasn't seen anyone in a while." Sabbs gave him a half smile. "So what's yer name, dude?"

The marks over Sabbath's skin, were from scars in a different lifetime, wounds he and his kin had not lived though, but the male didn't remember any of it, not yet, not this time. Today, he was just weary, not damaged, too many long days on a lonely road. Times between seeing other Katorai were far apart, he hoped that they would return and that for all of their sakes, these waters and all the places like it that had fallen empty would fill with life again.

Keenile listens softly and nods, “I do hope when it warms up things will be better. And more people will show up. But I don’t think so. Even when it was still warm and sunny no one was showing up. It seems that all of them were wanting other things. I am Keenile.” he said softly and then looked down at the water. “I don’t mind being alone here though. It is really pretty.” He smiles and shook his head. “Well looks like we both have been alone for a wail. It is sometimes nice to just talk things out.” He smiled warmly at the darker colored male.

It really did feel so nice to have another person near by. He had never thought it was so important or even as needed as it was. He felt so much warmer and happier right now. “So Sabbath were you heading to any particular place or were you just walking?”

Sabbath was mildly surprised to hear that, and spoke again when Keen had his say. "I've just been walking, searching, since- as long as I can remember. If I was to settle down, it would be some place like this... I wonder though, where everyone has gone. I see less and less of any of our kind, even when I go back to places I've been before. I don't know a lot of things, but our kind, we can't vanish from the world..." He sounded unsure as he said it, shaken, "Keenile, do you have family, friends, kin of any kind?"

Sabb had begun to feel a similar warmth that Keenile felt, but it was soon pulled away. From his travels he knew the world was alive, it was healing from the wars that had happened long ago, but that 'torai were seemingly lost from the lands, from the sea, it shook him deeply.

Keenile shook his head, "I have no one. I am alone in this entire bay. I have not seen another of my line nor yours for years. I had almost feared never seeing one again. I do think that we are dying out." He looked down at the water's still surface. "Though before everyone left I heard tell that the gods and goddesses were making a newer type of Katorai...that the old kinds like us might die out completely for a better stronger kind to take over the lands." He shivered, "I do not want to die any time soon...even if the heavens wish it...Maybe I will just hide away....or set off to travel like yourself. Try to find the last ones that are like us."

He turned to look at Sabbath. "Well I hope you one day find a place for you to call home. I do think it would be good for you. Everyone needs at least one place to call home or at least a familiar place to go from time to time" He nods and smiles, "I mean even if all life but myself were to leave this bay I think I would always hold this place special in my heart. I mean it really is almost like that as is....not many fish are even living here. It really is a pitty."

He shifted a bit to pull one leg up under his other leg. "I would ask if you wanted to swim but I am sure it is too cold for you. I know a small little spring with warm water near but if you fancy a soak."

Sabbath shivered lightly as he listened to Keenile, a fearful look in his eyes. "For years..." He echoed softly, nodding his head, and then shaking it to remove the morbid thoughts that liked to drift about inside his skull.

"I won't be dying anytime soon." He said with a determined tone, as if he just decided it. He kind of had, never really thinking before this point about what would befall 'them' the katorai of old, "You either, dude." He grinned, "gods will or not, we won't just give up and let whatever else comes take-over, hey? If you do end up hiding, don't go too deep that you can't be found again. I'd come back and look for you for sure." It was a promise he didn't know if he could keep, but he wanted to keep. His smile was lopsided but his enthusiasm was sure.

"I'm sure I'll find 'home' whatever it mean to me. Maybe. Or I'll keep looking and the whole world can be my home." He stared out over the waters, still listening, even if his expression had become a little distant.

Sabbath stood again. "I think I'll take you up on that soak, this cat's getting a bit nippy." He leaned back against the poles of the pier and wished he knew what to he could do for Keenile. "It is a pity that this place is, how it is," He refused now, to say that it was 'dying' "Maybe some travel would do you good, dude. Not that it ain't nice here," he looked around again, noticing the stillness, "It is, it really is, but there is also still life out there, if you could see it, maybe you wouldn't think that you'll always be alone here. Find some way to bring life back here, I don't know~!" He moved away from the pole now, grasping at nothing, he wasn't a plotter, or a schemer, he would follow and do, but on his own he wasn't sure exactly what it was he should do. Even his travels were without destination. He went where the world took him.

Keenile smiles and stands as well, "Well I don't think I am very good at hiding. With colors as bright as mine I have a hard time finding a place that will cover them." He ran a hand down his short fur before he started to walk off the peir and around the bay.

"I think I would like you to try and visit me one day. It would be nice to travel but I don't know if I would even want this place to be full of life again. I am so use to it being like things I think I would be more afraid to see others running around here and being happy." His ears lowered a bit in thought. It would seem both he and Sabbath had troubles in thier mind and pasts. "Please don't get upset though. Some of us are not built for certain things and enviornments." He laughed gently, the sound was soft and shy. "I think it is wonderful that the world is your home. Then you are never leaving it." He gave the dark coat a soft pat. "Life is always an unknown. We can't know what is going to happen. But we can learn from the past."

It would only take a short walk for them to make it to a bit pool of steaming water. Along one side of pool rocks were piled up high. On the other three sides it was exposed to nature. "Maybe a good soak will easy the trouble in your mind. You look stressed."

Sabbath followed the other male at a brisk pace listening with perked ears, he had an urge to draw a finger over the swirls that marked the other's shoulder, but he didn't. As they walked he noticed again that even the surrounding were quiet, even the wildlife around these parts was sparse. It was eerily quiet, but for the sounds of their footsteps and voices.

"Well, I meant if you were gonna hide, only if they're out to get us?" He managed a chuckle, as if he was kidding, "To each his own, we do what we have to, like my searching. I've no idea what it is I'm looking for. I've always had this feeling that I should be returning to something, somewhere. But that's just me. Your home is here. There's nothing wrong with it, I wouldn't try and talk you out of staying or anything. But I'm sure I will wander back through this land again sometime."

When they arrived at the pool Sabbath didn't hesitate to climb in, "Ah~!" He announced softly at the feeling of the warmth rising up his body as he submersed his form, resting back against the rocks surrounding the pool, with his eyes shut for a moment, before snapping them open again. "You can join me, it's not only the stressed that can enjoy a soak." Sabbath hadn't though that he was particularly upset, maybe the idea of the gods out to get them had put a strain on his expression, but he wasn't overly worried, not yet.

Keenile smiles softly, "I am glad to hear that you will come back again. It would be nice to have a friend. But as you can see hiding here would not be that hard to do...often no life comes around. Until you showed up I thought that I might have been dead....and stuck wandering a bay that will never have life again."

He knelt near the water wail he watched the other get in and soak. He smiled softly as the other male shut his eyes and then the smile faded again. He reached out a hand slowly, he jumped a little as Sabbath's eyes opened wide and he spoke. However he still move his hand forward to stroke the sliver scar like marks over the bright red face. He was looking at the marks not the silver orbs of Sabbath's eyes. "Did all these scars and wounds hurt....are they all real?" His voice was soft and shy almost like a scared child. He had almost never touched another katorai. His fingers were soft and gentle as he felt to see if the marks were real scars.

Sabbath smiled slowly, he hadn't expected Keenile to be so close when he opened his eyes, but he invited the other into the water with him all the same. He let the gentle hand touch the pseudo scars and then took Keenile's wrist. He wouldn't force the other to join him, but another silent invitation was issued before he spoke his answer. "I dunno." He scooted over where he sat, so that there would be room next to himself in the pool, "I mean, I haven't looked closely at them in a while... but I have, before, they look horrible, right? I don't remember getting a single one of them, I've always been marked like this." The scars were markings on his very skin and pelt, the nick at his ear, the stitches at the borders from one color and texture to another but they had not happened in this life. His lips twitched into a wry smile. "So I guess I'm lucky to have them, but not to have felt them? Do you think they're interesting?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:12 am

Feeling the hand wrapped around his wrist Keenile let his fingers drop away from the pattern. "I....I am sorry...I did not mean to make you feel uncomfortable." he shifted and lowered himself into the water now moving so he would not be sitting to close to the other just incase Sabbath didn't want to be touched again. Though the bright colored Katorai did not try to remove the hand from his wrist.

"No...not horrible...they are very interesting...and I think it is the thought about how painful it might have been is the horrible thing...I am sorry again I touched...I have felt the urge to feel them once or twice..." his ears lowered as he looked down at the water. He knew he should not have tried to touch but he could not help it. Deep down he really did long for the comfort of another. He was, not that he wanted to admit it, scared of being alone...now more than ever because he found out he was not the only one left.

As the yellow male sat in the water longer the blue and teal patterns on his body started to darken and become more defined. It was almost as if the water unlocked a treasure map across his body. For under the water more patterns started to show up against his fur and skin.

(X3 I like that imagery~ )

Sabbath shook his head, letting the wrist drop only if the other pulled away, he was comfortable being close even with strangers, though in this moment he didn't consider Keenile a stranger at all. "Dude, s'alright, I d'care if you touch me, I was just trying to convince you to get in~" He let himself sink further as he listened to the apologies and the warm water brushed his chin.

"I get that. It's either people ignore em, try not to notice em, or they wanna know about them. I'm used to it." As Keen drooped Sabb smirked a little, yanking lightly at the other, to drag him a bit closer, firstly to show that he really didn't mind the closeness and second, because he noticed the change in the other male's pelt. "Does it always do that?" He asked, without realizing he'd voiced the queary. The urge from earlier, to touch the circle swirl at his shoulder returned and he traced one blue ring with dripping finger lightly. "That's even more interesting if you ask me," he leaned in and looked at the marking on the other's face, "this one do it too?"
