The vibrant grasslands waved with the coming winds, and rocks from the largest of boulders to the smallest of pebbles littered the ground as the grasses tickled their form. The sun shined through the field, allowing it a more golden hue, and the rocks soaked in the rays as well, some shining and glittering in mineral brilliance. However, one rock was unable to shine back to the sun. Fur covered the surface, moving along and looking more like the grasses that surrounded it.
The gray leopard had curled up in the middle of the clearing. His body had tightened up as much as it did to permit him looking similar to his rocky friends. Not a soul was in sight to interrupt the gathering, however, though he wondered where the rest of society was, if not here. The weather and landscape of the area was almost too perfect to not notice, though perhaps that was why all the granite decided to congregate here together.
He got up, placing a paw atop a low boulder beside him. Black eyes scanned the area in a hopeful search for someone with whom he could share the day.

Legs swinging in a ground-eating jog, Onni trotted along in a relaxed fashion, enjoying the day. The weather was lovely, if a little windy, ruffling the ridge of fur along his neck and occasionally coming near to knocking the slight feline over. Oh, hey, there were rocks over there. Ears perking with interest, the cheetah altered course, hoping to find a nice flat one to soak up the sun with.

Those black eyes settled on a rather peculiar purple and pink form that made itself known well against the earthy terrain. An eyebrow raised as the gray leopard continued observing the purple... cheetah, who had let the wind get the best of it, falling down every other or so often step. It was a little amusing, if not pity-inducing, to watch the other predatory feline succumb to the slightest pushes of the wind. He, on the other paw, wouldn't let himself be antagonized by heavy breezes, and found ways to walk along with the direction while still going towards his intended path despite any opposition from nature; perhaps it helped that his larger size aided his grounding.
As the purple cheetah neared, he focused on the striped tail that became rather hypnotizing as it trailed behind; it stuck out blatantly, even against the unusual coat of the stranger, and could be likened to a large, monstrous worm. His eyes were glued to it, anyways, until he was close enough to see the dark scarlet pinks of the stranger's eyes which had never once gone his way. Did he look that much like a rock to not be noticed?
"Hu-hey!" he suddenly exclaimed, frightful that the purple stranger would've stepped on him if he hadn't said anything.

Wait...why did that rock start talking? As Onni paused to stare incredulously, it took a moment to register that the rock was not a rock, and was in fact a leopard. Oh. OH. OHHH. "Sorry!" he blurted out, ears flicking back in dismay. "I didn't see you, I uh...I saw rocks, but not you, and..." Hmm. Maybe he should stop while he was ahead.

The gray leopard flicked his own ears back, surprised at the stranger's own surprise. He wasn't that small and unnoticeable, in his own mind. Though, he guessed he was nothing like the purple cheetah at all - if he wandered around the earth like that, who knew what kind of rocks he'd be mistaken for then. He then decided it was an honest mistake; it was his fault, anyways, for sitting near such large boulders that were the same grey tones as he was.
"It's okay," he said, putting a small smile on his mouth, "I'm Goshi. Very far from a rock... If I can say so myself."
He then scrambled on top of one, taking his claws out to grip the hard, round surface, and rolled to his side, already assuming that the purple cheetah couldn't be of any harm if he put himself in this position. After all, he apologized for mistaking him for a rock. It wasn't a new one, anyways.
"Soooo what are you doing, huh? Haven't come looking for rocks, did ya? These are a little more comfortable than the normal - they're not sharp!" he suggested to join him; company was something to look forward to anytime!

The cheetah offered a sheepish grin. "Yeah, I wouldn't say you're a rock now. That'd just be insulting." To be fair, Onni hadn't mistaken Goshi for a small rock. Just a large one. This was irrelevant now that he'd realized the leopard was not a rock, however. "M'name's Onni...and, well, I wasn't really looking for anything in particular, but a sunny rock is always nice." Hopping up on one that was wide enough, yet still low enough that he didn't have to make a fool of himself attempting to climb, he stretched out a little. "Not-sharp is a plus too."

Goshi chuckled, more out of amusement at the cheetah's kindness than politeness. He seemed a little shy and unsure of himself, which only made Goshi all the more open to welcoming the stranger into his company. Life without company would be horrible, from his view.
"Onni, huuh," Goshi trailed off, thinking about how peculiar that name sounded, yet liking it at the same time.
"Oh, yeah, always find ones with less edges..." he smiled at nothing in particular, watching Onni get on one of the lowest stones.
He found that his attention was wavering between his new purple acquaintance, and the looming of overhead clouds. Though the sky was mostly clear, some patches of white fluff made themselves visible to saunter a little more rapidly than usual through the great expanse of light blue. It was a beautiful sight to the gray leopard with much appreciation for the subtle nature found in various atmospheres. White mask and black eyes did nothing to move away from the direction of the gaze, and had a silence formed between the two, Goshi wouldn't have worried over it at all.
But when the clouds passed by, Goshi held a slight frown, turning back to Onni as if breaking from a trance. He realized they had just met, and began searching in his mind for something to say...

As the silence stretched on, Onni wondered if he should...say something, or something. But Goshi seemed rather entranced by the sky overhead, and it felt somehow rude to intrude on that. Waiting...waiting...oh, there he was coming back to earth again. "So uh...you like watching clouds?" ...Okay, that was lame. He really needed to get out more. "You seemed interested in them." That...wasn't really any better. Sigh.

To this mild relief, Onni said something to break the quietness. Not that Goshi had minded; he was perfectly content with letting the purple cheetah just sit and cloud watch with him. That would be viable, had only there been more clouds in the distance. He sighed a small amount of lament over that predicament, but was able to turn back to concentrate on Onni.
"Yah, they fly so slow and with... a lightness, huh? Don't you wish you were one?" he sighed a dramatic wistfulness, beginning to stand up and crouch from his rock.
Then, taking a leap downwards, he placed himself next to Onni and smiled with amusement.
"You'd be some weird purple cloud. I'd fit in perfect. What are you interested in then, hmm?!" he asked, a bright flicker of energetic excitement in his eyes.
He moved his tail around to tap Onni's own smaller one in a tease and continued, "It looks like you'd be interested in... uh, flowers. Or worms? Am I close?"

"It'd be nice to fly, but I guess gods have to be special somehow," Onni joked, stretching lazily. He didn't have anything in particular against gods, but all that he'd heard of had wings so...they could fly, right? They were supposed to, he wasn't, and that's why he didn't have wings. ...Wait, what, worms? Blinking, he pulled himself out of his thoughts to tilt his head at Goshi. "Why worms? They're fun to poke at after a rain..." But why?

"But then clouds and gods would be the same, then?" he remarked without thinking, perplexed by the joke.
Goshi then jumped onto the boulder sitting right next to Onni, placing himself once again higher than his purple companion. He stretched too, catching the contagiousness of the laze, stretching his tail to playfully bat right above Onni's pelt. Onni too seemed to get lost in wild tangents, and Goshi was very glad to have bumped into him, despite being mistaken for a rock.
"How about we rest for a bit, and look for something to eat later, huh Onni?" he asked, turning his head to stare at the sky upside down.
If Onni denied his request, maybe it was just destined for them to part. However, it would be helpful if he didn't have to seek out another presence. The purple cheetah was starting to feel like he could provide a little fun, too, despite his meekness.
"It doesn't have to be worms," he laughed, "And I'm pretty good at taking down things, yeah? I'd hope you'd be good at running... Or attracting others with that tail lure of yours!"

"Not unless clouds have wings," Onni quipped, watching Goshi stare upside down at the sky with the curiosity a child might reserve for an orangutan that had just flipped its lip over its mouth. Wait, lure? Oh, that was it...his tail did look rather like a worm. A large, furry one. "Don't know that anything would go after a worm that big, though." Yawning, he stretched out a little more. "Resting sounds good."

"Alriiiight," Goshi concluded, keeping the rest of his thoughts to himself.
If he had been one to feed on worms, he would definitely go for Onni's tail, as it could have meant a year's supply of food... If only he indulged in that. He shook his head, turning away the thought; he shouldn't start thinking of his company in such a way... Eating Onni should definitely be the last thing on his mind. So Goshi went back upright, so he'd actually be comfortable during the break, and put his head sideways to his paws.
He was glad to have found such a strange purple cheetah at this odd hour of the day. If he was lucky, perhaps later Onni would show his good prowess at hunting with such a distinguishing coat!
