I just took care of a rouge spyware thing on my sister account, and ran Ad-Adware SE(it kinda sucks for me now since it does not detect updates anymore, and it does not seem to get anything serious) and everything seemed clear even though there's tons of stuff Spyware Doctor picked up we did not clean(have to buy).
I still see popups and the speed gets affected a bit too. There's also a good chance these rouge anti-spyware crap would be back re-repaired tomorrow as well.
Should we invest in this? It's a pretty popular software.

I haven't had any sort of adware/malware/spyware problems lately as far as I know. Everything has been running very consistently for me the past several months, especially since I got Pugyuu. I use Avira anti-virus and Ad-Aware, both free programs.
I'm not sure what type of spyware you're having trouble with, but... I suppose I'd wait for Anorhc's response first. XD She knows the most when it comes to computers and electronics in this guild... or anyone I know of, really. o_o

Don't buy it. It's not worth it if there's free solutions out there.
If you want, I could set aside some time and work with you in getting rid of the spyware/malware that is installed on your computer. It would involve you installing something to allow me to control your computer remotely (while you're on the computer too), but I guarantee that I'll be able to fix it up for you.
If you want to fix up the problem yourself, what I usually tend to do is install the big 3: Spyware Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, and MalwareBytes. However, some spyware software have disabled these programs from running on computers properly (each has its unique case in handling the software), and unless you're really experienced in removing things, it might get a little cumbersome.
I don't know how "infected" the PC might be, but again, I'm willing to help you out if needed. You can get my AIM screen name through Locke (who's always online anyway, lol).

MalwareBytes... Never heard of that one, though I have the other two.
I should look into that.

It seems I'm all clear after Ano used Combo Fix. I checked the log and noticed it deleted some useless codecs I found to make sound work in a video. I gotta be careful what I download.
I'm not sure what to do next to finish up though. Probably another scan from Spybot. Maybe this time it would not stop Malwarebytes from downloading agian.

Gosh! It seems I'm not in the clear at all yet. My sis went on and the fake program ran agian. Not to mention she reported popups. MS Security Essentials stopped activity for now, but lord.... It feels like we would have to start all over. This is really frustrating.

I forgot that ComboFix disabled all forms of networking to prevent spyware from continuing further. As a result, it kicked me off and probably prevented you from getting online for a while.
There were a few extra steps I needed to take after that, but we could run ComboFix once more and finish where we left off.
I'd advise running a Full Scan of MS Security Essentials before I do anything so it could get rid of the Trojan.Vundo adware. Popups are most likely related to the Google Redirect Adware that is on there in dormant form.

Ah sorry I was late. My sister seemed kinda pissed at me and wanted to get her work done >_>.... Meh. I don't blame her.
I'm running the MSSE scan again. It may take about an hour and a half or so. I'll tell you when it's done.

Goodluck on clearing it up.
Personally, I tend to only keep stuff I don't need on my main hard drive. Shows/movies or anything I want to keep I put on my external hard drive. Typically, I install and finish games then take them off.
That way, if I find that my system is getting too crowded with useless junk I don't want or if I manage to contract a truly annoying virus I can just reformat. The reformation also helps by making my computer faster.
Although, AusLogics BoostSpeed is REALLY good for keeping my computer running smoothly.

It seems like everything is good now thanks to Ano.
Reformatting is a last resort to me. I really want to keep my pirated Corel and Adobe programs since I ditched the "stuff" I used to get them. Maybe I'll get that habit if I ever get me a laptop XD
But damn. The last one I had seemed alot worst but easy to take care of. This one was just a freaking persistent pest. The truth would be revealed in the morning. Hopefully the other user accounts on this machine fares well.

My sister encountered the Security Tool in her user account, but Malwarebytes and Essentials took care of its activity. All that's left is its icon(it looks like a white screen). I'm not really sure if that means it would find a way to regenerate itself.
She seemed to have had the automatic update thing turned off. I wonder if that may have lead to the outbreak... Maybe, but I'm not assuming just yet. I turned it back on though.
My user account is still clear.

Just delete icon. It isn't harmful to have it, but there's no point in keeping it. Glad to know that your account is still clean. 3nodding

Okay.
I'm getting popups and stuff. Did a scan and it's mostly Vundo. Vundofix could probably end the activity.

Probably best to do the scan on all the accounts.
