After her spar with Ziarre she had dragged herself off to flop down in a quiet spot, body aching. She had made too many foolish mistakes and now she was paying for it, mentally beating herself up to go along with the abuse that she'd taken physically. "Idiot..." She muttered, eyes closing tightly as she rested her head against the dirt. Yes, Ziarre had worked hard to get where she was... But she should have offered her a better fight than she had...

He had been relieved of his border patrol for that morning and was in search of something to snack on. He knew he could find something in the snow it would just be a matter of catching it ... and he'd never been all that good at hunting. He was too heavy to get much speed and everything here was faster than he could go.
While he was hunkered in the snow watching a few birds he was surprised to hear someone flop down into the snow not far from him. Keeping a growl to himself as the birds escaped he turned so he could go investigate the sound.
".... figures." He spotted a familiar for in the snow. Why did she always turn up when he was doing something stupid or hopeless?

Her shoulders fell as she heard an all too familiar voice, eyes opening only to roll skyward as she cursed her luck... Or, in this case, her severe lack of it. "If you've come to mock me for my performance, you're too late. I'm already berating myself and I'm afraid I don't need any help."

He raised a brow slightly. "Performance in what? I was coming over here to see who decided to scare off my morning snack" And he was still hungry and getting grumpier because of it. It didn't help that it was -her- that was causing his lack of food at the moment.

"Oh, you mean you weren't amongst those gathered to watch my failure of a spar against the Gumu?" Her brow lofted slightly as she eyed him for a moment before lowering her head to the ground once more. "And here I thought you would have wanted a seat amongst the front row..."

"Not everyone can take time away from their work to watch someone try to prove themselves. I was busy on the borders." He had never bothered watching matches between anyone. He found it easier to just go about his work and let others make their own stupid mistakes.
"Though i am not surprised that you were taken down. There is a reason the Gumu holds their rank."

"I know there's a reason why Ziarre holds the rank that she does, thank you very much... But that doesn't mean I shouldn't have been able to hold my ground a bit better." Nevermind that she'd probably held her ground better than most... That had to stand for something, at least, and maybe she'd realize that later when she wasn't busy berating herself for hesitating.

"But you didn't." And in his mind that was all there was too it. "All you're doing is making yourself worse off by sitting her wallowing in your own self pity. You failed. Take the failure and learn from it. replay it in your mind and figure out what you did wrong and make sure that you never make the same mistake again."
It was stupid to think that just because you failed that you had done something wrong. Everyone had to fail to know how to proceed. He hadn't gotten where he was, or gained the strength he had, by berating himself just because someone stronger had beaten him

"I'm not wallowing in self pity. I'm berating myself because, at the moment, it's distracting me from every part of my body that's aching because I was an idiot." She snorted, opening one eye to peer up at him once more. "It feels better lying here against the cold ground than it would to be up moving around... And you can be certain I won't hesitate next time."

"Same difference." He shrugged slightly. "If you hurt that bad you should find a deeper snow drift. The cold will help." Not that he really should be helping her but he knew how abused muscles could feel if they ween't taken properly.

"Are you going to stick around to warm me up afterward?" Her dark eyes gleamed as she eyed him, not entirely certain as to what had possessed her to say such a thing. Of course, now that it was out there it was a bit too late to take it back... And a challenge was a challenge no matter the type or how it was extended.

He managed not to react outwardly to her words but inwardly he was shocked. She couldn't have meant anything by that. It must have just come out. "Doubt anyone else would be able to get any heat out of you."

"So you think I'm frigid?" A smirk of sorts curved the corners of her muzzle as she shifted, pushing herself up onto her paws in a movement that would have been more fluid if she hadn't just taken a beating. She was going to have to see about finding others to spar with more often so that she could keep her form up even when things were quiet... "And what about you? Are you sure you're capable of giving off that kind of heat or is it just all hot air?"

"You hardly find hot air at the center of the earth." The others often called him a mountain and he knew what lived deep in the rocks. "Nothing warms faster than the heart of mountains."

"Oh, I'm sure there's lots of hot air if you go deep enough in the caverns... But I'm not talking about the mountains, Mpasuko. I'm talking about you." She grinned as she stepped forward, butting her head lightly against his shoulder before brushing past him, making sure to let her tail tip flicker close to his nose.
