Project Shadow | Deviation The Future Is Now
This is a role play akin to those found in the Barton Town forums. There is no set outcome. No expectations of what is going to occur and most of all it is limitless in what you do can do here.

Post 1 | The Setting
The year is 2013. The world has been plunged into darkness by what is known to the public as the Shadow Entities. These creatures were created by a group of scientists in a genetics research laboratory known as Sector Zero, unknowingly what they created was a plague that ravaged the world, a pestilence that flooded across the planet, caused crops to die and the human inhabitants to become infected with what is known as the Darkness, a disease which occurs when an Entity comes into contact with human skin. The planet itself has bore the brunt of this folly of man, its resources depleted, things such as oil and other luxuries are now almost non existent. The cows and live stock are extinct.
Human kind does their best to live normal lives but with the attacks becoming more and more frequent their days seem numbered. Some of the former Sector Zero group have dedicated their lives to destroying this menace but everyday their forces become weaker and more outnumbered. Their time limited they have tried numerous methods to create a way to rid the world of this plague, both the entities and the darkness but so far they have come up with nothing remotely close. The group have turned to military strategies to save themselves from the danger they face everyday, it is a rare occassion when they have time to work on new weapons or viral technology to wipe out the enemy. This is left to the larger cities and research labs, which are becoming increasingly scare.
Situated in a small base the group plan their strategies, work briefly on new weapons and cures and they travel the land searching for new resources eliminating as many of the pestilent and wretched Shadow Entities as they can before they face the inevitable... death...

Post 2 | The Enemies
In this world nobody is safe. Enemies lurk at every turn awaiting you to make one false move. This list will updated every time a new enemy is encountered.
--------------------
Beggars | Normal desperate people who will do anything for some clean clothes and a loaf of bread, money is useless to them since there is no shops, people barter for their neccessities trading what they dont need for what they do need. Normally beggars dont pose much threat and are harmless unless they are in an EPZ (Extreme Poverty Zones) Level: 01
--------------------
The Dark Ones | These people are ones who have been touched by the Shadow Entities. Once touched by an entity the onset of the darkness is almost immediate, their blood flows black and their veins become more apparent through almost translucent skin. These people still maintain their senses and instincts and act like normal people but the Shadow Entities appear to have an ability to control the Dark Ones within a certain range. If you see a Dark One acting peculiar or attacking somebody for no reason chances are that there is a Shadown Entity nearby. The life expectancy of normal humans who have been infected is estimated at around 90-100 years, they appear to almost become host to the thoughts and instincts of the Shadow Entities when in range of their thoughts. Level: 03
--------------------
Shadow Entities | A severe and destructive entity created by a group of genetic scientists. These Shadow Entities were creating using a strange black liquid which was discovered during a meteor shower. These creatures ripped through the labs where they were created and tore across the planet leaving a trail of destruction behind them. Their touch causes a sickness within human kind, this sickness becomes apparent almost instantly and the entities have the ability to control those who are infected. These creatures can move at extreme speeds, are barely visable during the darkest hours and due to their genetic make up they can move through walls that are not protected with a specific substance. Level: 06

Post 3 | The Areas
As with most worlds this one is comprised of various areas. This is a listing of the basic areas that can be found. This list will be updated as new areas are found.
--------------------
TZ Town Zones |The more inhabitable areas of this world. The towns are places which have not crashed and burned, they have avoided the brunt and full bore of the original destruction, people here live close to normal lives, things arent perfect but where is? This people are usually happily to oblige and help others in anyway they can. They have no research labs but do however house a small military installation mainly comprised of a small ragtag army.
--------------------
CZ City Zones | There are only four main cities left within this world, these cities act as well protected strongholds to house hundreds of thousands of people and also double as a place for scientists to research cures and technology advances to help with the war against the Shadow Entities. Citie Zones usually have larger military installations located there as well, such as the Derelict.
1 | TBC 2 | TBC 3 | TBC 4 | TBC 5 | Espon City
--------------------
The Derelict | This is the main stand point for the teams who fight against the creatures. It isnt the best of places, the conditions arent bad but saying they were decent would be a stretch. Armouries and vast quantities of research material gathered over the past seven years are held here in the hopes that one day somebody may benefit from it and learn a cure to the problems of this planet,.
--------------------
EPZ | Extreme Poverty Zones, these areas are usually baron areas which are barely inhabitable due to the extent of the destruction and chaos caused here. Shadow Entities can usually be found in these areas preying on weak people who have succumbed to lack of proper nutrition.
--------------------
Wastelands | Baron and squalid conditions, the wastelands are places which used to be inhabitited by animals and humans alike but have long since been razed to the ground. This is the perfect breeding ground for the Shadow Entities and many of the Dark Ones can often be found here. Many people say that the Entities young use the Dark Ones as nourishment, draining the bodies of their lifeforce and their energy before venturing into the world to kill others.

Post 4 | The History
As time progresses through this roleplay, the occurances will be noted and kept in this history log for future reference.
--------------------
Chapter 1 | The Fall Of Espon
With the world in ruins, cities and labs being destroyed by the Entities, the group struggle for survival and to maintain their sanity. The saga begins here...
A day all too quiet for the likes of some, the mess hall, the atmosphere shallow and loose. Somethings wrong. With a brief moment of persuasion Ksrugi and Tao discover that Espon City, the worlds largest and most heavily guarded research facility, which doubles as a home to hundreds of thousands of people, has been razed to the ground by the Entities, scattering the survivors and destroying years of in depth research into a cure for the disease and a possibly weapon to destroy the Entities. This leaves only merely a handful of research labs left in the world and a few dozen cities. The most obvious problem is that the Entities have taken out the strongest facility on the planet. They can do anything they want. Their power seems too great to imagine. Full heartedly Ksrugi and Tao, watched by Caliandra, gather their thoughts and prepare for a rescue attempt, to salvage whats left, to save anybody who is still alive....

Post 5 | The Level System
This is just a trial period thing- I want to see how people respond to this system and the way of doing things. It may or may not be permanent so dont worry.
The level system isnt complex so dont panic, its pretty easy to understand and works on a very simple premise. The more you participate in the guild, the higher your level becomes and the stronger enemies you can go up against when roleplaying. Of course because enemies are usually controlled by the player who is facing off against them this system is slightly flawed which means it really is down to everybody to use this system and make it work, there is also the factor that posting in non roleplay areas will increase your level to but its just an added bonus for hanging out in the guild.
Each enemy is given a level number below its description, this is the level you must be at to successfully beat it, people close to this level will be able to defeat the monster with a little bit of effort. Team work comes into play when there is more than one person playing in the RP, if two members each at level 10, discover a level 20 monster they can defeat it together because their added levels are the same as the monsters.
I have included this system because I think it will add more depth to the roleplay and also get people working as a team. Your post count within the guild can be found in the memberlist.
Below is a listing of what level you reach at which post count. The first column indicates the level, the second is what your post count in the guild should read and the third column is the amount of posts until your next level.

Ksrugi knelt near a small dirt mound with a large rock set into the ground. On it were the words, "Semper Amore", Ever Loved. Tears flowed freely down his face and it was a simple mask of sadness. At only twenty seven years old, he has suffered so much, faced so many challenges. And in the end, it was for nothing. He let the cold breeze of the wasteland blow over him as he recalled what happened. How everything seemed to fall apart when the damned Shadow Entities appeared. When his wife had been taken in the first wave....

Tao had returned and wondered through the dull and listless corridors of the Derelict for mere moments before he was seemingly overcome with, what at first, seemed to be anxiety. He had been stressed for so long. He couldnt even remember the last time when he was not emptying shells into an almost impossibly strong foe. The emptiness he felt within was unrivalled by any of the hard times he had ever experienced. He felt almost as if his soul had been wrenched from him in an almightly and ungodly session of violence.
Many people took solace in the fact that blood still coursed through their veins and that they had not been bled dry by one of those beasts that now lurked the planet. Tao wasnt one of these people. He bore the full force of a trauma that would last him a lifetime. He had become wreckless, his stubbled and soot stained face, his unkempt image like a mirror which reflected what he felt inside. He held the weight of the world within his blue eyes which had grown dull and weary many moons ago. He struggled onwards though, not living, merely existing as a shadow of a man.
As his motion seemed to slow, he felt his chest tighten. His arm twitched for a mere second before his torso went limp and he toppled backwards, landing awkwardly against the gray wall. He shivvered as he sat there, still conscious, his body aching. Motionless he drew breath to his lungs as he braced himself. Everybody knew that too much time in the field would do peculiar things to a man. What nobody had banked on was the strains and the after effects of seeing whole towns wiped out. Women and children, drained of their life force, some still alive and writhing on the ground in agony, as whatever precious moments they had left were spent surveying their dead relatives, their neighbours and their friends. Tao had seen this scene all too often, he had first hand experience with it. He seen it everyday but the madness, the chaos and the death still ate away at his once virile mind. The panic attacks, the shell shock and the suicidal tendancies had gotten worse as the months wore on.
He sat there against the wall. Thinking. Simply existing.

Ksrugi looked down at himself and marvelled at how he had changed. His clothing, once in pristine condition and of the finest material, were now only rags and the bits he could steal from the bodies of his dead comrades. The only constant was his mask, the one thing that hailed from the past. He chuckled at the thought. Hide your face so the world will never find you, as they say.
Ksrugi turned to walk the three mile path back to home base. The walk was what made him an oddity to the other survivors. He never was attacked, even though he spent hours where the Entities and Shadows lurked. He smiled again, thinking that his walk was only the result of insanity and loneliness. No one understood him and the ones who used to were either flaming mad, dead, or consumed by the Entities.
He had nothing left to live for, but still, he had with him a weapon. His magnum from so many years ago still aided him, but he lost his knife years ago while plunging it into the heart of a traitor. So sorry David, you just couldn't stop hogging the rations while the rest of us starved, he thought bitterly.

The callously slung shotgun which draped over his shoulder by a dusty and filthy strap dug deep into his back as he sat there against the wall. He gazed off into space. Snapping himself out of it he pulled himself up the wall and ran a cold and dirt encrusted finger across the side of his rib cage, the scar had never faded, he would never want it to either. There to serve as a reminder, of the past, of all that had been lost in the battle. That horrid day, that day filled with remorse and regret. The day which had caused him so much anguish, so much pain and fuelled him with a lust for vengeance for many years afterwards. The vegeance had long since died, along with the Tao that once existed. He wasnt here anymore, he would never return. The shell of a mortal man wrought with self destruction and regret. The pain seering into his heart and into his mind. He never spoke of them, the family and the friends he had lost. He simply bottled it up, soldiered onwards and would be damned by the consequences. A solitary but crystal clear tear edged from his eye and rolled down his cheek, his thoughts flickered for a moment, "I still miss you. I havent forgotten you." These were the words he told himself everyday, the words he whispered beneath his breath.

Ksrugi strode past the beggars and people near the derelict and ignored their pleas for food and clothing. He had learned long ago to just say "screw you". None of them would help him fight the Entities. All they were good for was Shadow Fodder. He rounded on a turn and entered the building, nearly bumping into Tao.
"Hello mate, how's the hammer hanging?"
He tried to smile, but formed somethign half way and it looked more like a grimace of pain. But still, he tried to cheer up his long time friend.

Propped against the wall, he began to dotter down the corridor, he turned to Ksrugi. His usual unfeeling, emotionless face seemed to detract from whatever little comical value the joke may have had. He simply broke out a forced smile and nodded, if only for Ksrugi's sake.
"Its fine. Things are good."
He lied of course, things had never been good, it seemed as if they would never be. As he took slow step after slow step down the corridor he unlatched his olive green jacket pocket, he took out a picture. A small one. It looked fragile, like the slightest wind would blow it apart. He gazed at the once happy family, his wife and his son. He was in the picture too, although it seemed as if the man who stood there, so proud and full of lust for life, was somebody else. He remember the day the picture was taken, an airy summers eve on the outskirts of Espon City. That life was all but a distant memory now. He stopped. Turning slowly to Ksrugi he spoke roughly, his voice scratched and coarse,
"You heading to the mess hall..."

He put a hand on Tao's shoulder and tried to comfort him. His voice grew softer and it was like a poet going on a sermon.
"I know how you feel. But wasting away like this isn't what they wanted. You know it much more than I. Live for them, do something monumentous for their sake."
He kicked at a bit of grime on the floor and then began to walk.
"I hope we get something bacon-like today. It's been ages since I've had food for the soul..."

Tao stared at the floor, wasting away was all he wanted to do now. The more he wasted away, the more he put his life in danger, the closer he came to death was all the sooner he would see his family again. Nothing would ever alter his way of thinking. The regret he felt was too much. The secrets he kept hidden away were too much for him to bear- for any man to cope with.
"Bacon... hardly soul food K."
The comment seemed to flow from his mouth as a snide remark but he didnt mean anything by it, he rarely meant the comments he said. The shotgun swayed as he continued down the corridor.

Ksrugi heard Tao's comment and let it slide. Normally he would deck the person into submission if they crossed him, but Tao didn't deserve that. Ksrugi thought back to what happened when he lost his wife. He thought of the irony. He was trying to help Tao with his problem, but the festering guilt of being unable to save her was eating away at him like acid. And he still visited her maggot ridden body after three years of living in such a dank prison. Ksrugi turned down a corridor and then opened the door for Tao.
"Go ahead mate."
