Nealite was pissed.
Letting out a third scream for the evening, the Lieutenant picked up the nearest item in reach - her overfilled makeup bag - and threw it against the mirror. Tubes and containers went flying all across the sink, powder and wax smudges painting the area of impact. Items both cheap and expensive had taken damage during the onslaught, but the orange haired woman didn't care; there were more important things to be angered over, and the makeup was simply the first casualty of the evening.
He'd chosen them. Charonite had chosen those... those babies to carry out his work instead of her. And worse, she'd had to find this out by eavesdropping, instead of being told directly from the General-King himself? Was he trying to tell her there was something wrong with her performance, that she was lacking as a Lieutenant?
Immediately, her eyes turned towards the mirror, examining the reflection that glared back at her. She was beautiful, there was no doubt. The perfect example of what a Lieutenant should be, both inside and out. So why, out of all of the charges Charonite had, did he take Celestine under his wing? Why would he send Caine to aid Linarite in a mission to capture a star seed? She should be the one personally trained, she should be the one who receives the missions! Worse in fact, that she hadn't even been the one to give the order... was she failing in what few duties she did have?
No.
No no no.
Orange eyes refused to look away from the pair staring back at her from the mirror. She was the best Lieutenant out of the group, whether Charonite realized it or not. No, she'd make him realize that, no matter what it took.
She continued to stand there as she thought over her options, over what methods she could use to make her position in the Negaverse evident to her superior. That Celestwit wouldn't be terribly hard to take down, once that stupid little stick of his was removed. To kill off another Lieutenant, though...no, that would only stir up more trouble than needed. Especially if Charonite was infatuated with training the twerp, like he apparently seemed to be. Hm. And while Caine was evidently the cat's meow for Charonite and his orders, it would certainly take more than just a smart cat for Linarite to succeed at capturing a star seed. After all, Nea had a worthless cat and she was successful, so felines weren't that effective... right? But what if Lina did manage to obtain a seed? Surely that would have her climbing the ranks, and if any Lieutenant should be climbing, it should be the oldest and prettiest, in Nealite's opinion.
The mission is the key, she concluded in her mind, she mustn't get the star seed...
The figurative light bulb brightened above Nea's head. Perhaps if Nea got the seed instead of Linarite, then Lina would remain as she was and Nea would be the one climbing up the ranks.
Smirking, the older Lieutenant finally moved away from her reflection, glancing down as she gently removed the handheld mirror off her vanity. No, Linarite would not be getting a star seed tonight, but Nealite had no problem with letting the little girl do the fighting for her, and then Nealite would be the one with the star seed after defeating a battle-exhausted Linarite.
Turning the mirror, the older woman smiled at her reflection, then settled the mirror at her side as she left the bathroom, abandoning it to its warzone state.
It was time for her to find a blue haired computer addict.
