Well, it depends.
Are you in a raiding guild?
Do you prefer PvE or PvP?
Do you enjoy healing or dps?
Don't forget that you can also get dual specialization. razz

If ALL your gear is ret, start getting holy gear from quest rewards because you won't need it at 80. Go to dungeons as ret, and roll on holy gear for "my offspec" Then when you get enough holy gear, switch to holy.

My main is a paladin and enjoy retribution. But you may like something els. Ret - has DPS Holy - Is for healing prot - Is for tanking Akiterra Well, it depends. Are you in a raiding guild? Do you prefer PvE or PvP? Do you enjoy healing or dps? Don't forget that you can also get dual specialization. razz Like Aki said it depends on what you like to do.

Arthas Hellscream ok i have a crap load of honor now i'm going to buy holy PvP gear with it as a raid leaer, I would never bring someone in pvp gear to a raid. It is not anywhere near mana efficient.

You could always farm heroics for badge gear.

Also, take in account what is in demand on your server. Dps they will have enough, but some servers have a lack of healers while others have a shortage on tanks.

Kayariy Arthas Hellscream ok i have a crap load of honor now i'm going to buy holy PvP gear with it as a raid leaer, I would never bring someone in pvp gear to a raid. It is not anywhere near mana efficient. That, and even being honor-capped wouldn't get you two of the expensive pieces.
Like they said, do dungeons as ret. Get badges to buy pieces of holy gear and roll on stuff for an off-spec. (Really, int plate is used exclusively by paladins, so unless there's a paladin healing the group, it shouldn't be too much of a problem when it does drop)
Do daily quests for that 500 gold for your dual spec. It won't take too long.

I say either holy or prot. There are enough dps only classes. I don't think pally's even should have a dps spec because there are so many dps only classes. I tend to hate ret pally's, especially because it is so hard to find healers and tanks on my server. Every time I get a pally in my group who's like "I'm dps" I want to strangle them.

If paladins were to not have a DPS spec there would just be less paladins at the lvl cap. There would not be much more tanks and healers. People play the job thay want to play. And alot more people enjoy DPS. If paladins were to not get DPS those who play ret would just have an arms warrior or a blood DK or somthing els. But you cant mack someone tank if thay don't like tanking.

But you cant mack someone tank if thay don't like tanking. I understand that I can't make someone tank if they don't like it. They probably wouldn't do well if they didn't like it but there is a difference between sucking at it, not liking it and not trying it. More people would probably tank if there weren't so many sucky dps at low levels...... I do understand why people don't like tanking. I'm actually thinking of switching my pally from prot to holy because low level tanking sucks. I'm getting sick of the dps running off and pulling. I just don't understand why they just don't choose a dps class if they want to dps. I mean it's a real let down when you get a pally and they're like no I'm ret.... I'm like wonderful..... Also I'm not just talking about tanking I'm talking about healing. Healing is the spec I really think people don't try that often. It's as fun as being a dps. The only thing that does suck is when you get blamed for the group wiping or someone dying.
