Despite her original trepidation at living in a swamp she was beginning to love it. She had mostly gotten over her dislike of the mud on her paws and everywhere else it got and had found good places to wash off any of the offending dirt. She felt a bit closer to the earth here to. She was sure it had something to do with the abundance of life that made it's home in the area besides the pride.
Smiling softly she found a small stand of dry ground and sat to look at the area around her. Roshan should be coming to find her too and hopefully he would have something interesting to say. She had a few questions for him since he had seen more of the world than she had. Hopefully he could give her some sort of answer about the strange things she'd come across in her wandering.

This new life had taken some getting used to. The terrain was something he had never experienced before in his life, and he would be lying if he said he hadn't felt a little homesick over the first few weeks. It was just such a drastic change. Although, now as he stood listening to the croaks of frogs and the songs of birds deep within the swampy forest, he knew that it was growing on him as surely as creepers up bark. In the end, it had all been worth it to find a safe home away from the dangers of the world.
He turned away from where he was standing, where he had been staring out into the swamps, to instead head back to where he promised to meet his mate. Their life had been a busy string of traveling, searching and worries until they had found this place and now it was finally all starting to calm down. The pair of them were finally able to be mates again, to perhaps even start a family.
He trudged through the murky waters, bright eyes focused ahead of him, where he knew his mate would be waiting on the small earthy island. As he rounded a group of trees and she came into view, a small smile spread over his face and he quickened his pace as much as he could through the mud. As he finally reached her, he pulled himself up out of the water and collapsed onto the island next to her, careful not to splash his muddy paws on her.
"Were you waiting long?" he asked, tilting his head at her.

She heard the slight splashing and smiled as she heard her mates voice. Looking down at him she almost laughed. "Were you playing around like a cub?" She couldn't keep a slight chuckle out of her voice as she looked at the mud all over his paws.
"No, i wasn't waiting long." She shook her head as she shifted so she could lean down and nuzzle him. "I was just thinking about all the things i saw that i've never seen before. There's so much here that's different from where i'm from"

"No," he said quickly, frowning up at her in a childish manner, although he quickly allowed that to fade and replaced the expression with an endearing smile. "I was just exploring, actually." It was hard not to look like a cub in the swamps sometimes, unless one was simply particularly graceful.
"Well, I'm glad I didn't keep you here too awfully long then." He leaned into her nuzzle, tilting his head up to n** gently at her cheek before he turned away to look out at the swamps. "Ahh, yes, I know exactly what you mean. Everything here is just.. completely different from anything I've ever known too." His smile was still in place, however, and it was clear as he turned back to look up at her eyes that he was happy with the decision they'd made. "But it's beautiful, in it's own unique way."

"All the mud here is so hard to avoid." She laughed softly. She was only free of it herself because she'd managed to find some nice fresh water that she could rince off in. "Did you find anything interesting in your exploriations?"
"It is" She nodded after listening to him. "It's nothing like where i was before but it's still somehow beautiful. There are so many new creatures too. things i've never seen before"

"Agreed," he said with a little smile, looking down at his paws where the mud was beginning to dry and harden into a dusty dirt mess. He rubbed them at the grass beneath him a little, trying to get the scraggly blades to scrape the still-damp mud off of his limbs. In the end, it merely made it smear, and he let out a small sigh of frustration. "Beautiful, but sometimes it's a little bit of a chore."
"I found some interesting looking trees," he said, nodding his head as he looked back up at her, doing his best to look completely serious. "They have the oddest sorts of trees here." Then he simply laughed and shook his head, his shoulders shrugging a little. "Some new birds and reptiles I've never seen, yeah. It seems like I'm always finding a new one I've never seen before."

"I found a few good places where the water is deep enough to wash off in thankfully." She nodded before leaning her head against his. "Though one of them is only good for temporary releif since i haven't found a way back to the dryer parts of the area that dont involve getting muddy again."
"The trees that seem to stick out of the water partially?" She'd seen a few like that and thought it was strange. she'd never realy seen roots that did that before. "I saw lots of birds and some turtles too."

"I'm not sure I'd really bother," he said with a small sigh, shaking his head, "you just end up with more in the end." Not that he blamed her, her fur was so pretty when it was clean and neat. That was one of the only flaws in the pride - he did so hate to watch her beauty be tainted by the muddy water.
"Yeah, those, the ones who have the gnarly roots and trunks. You can see right through some of them." He leaned his head against her shoulder, his tail flipping behind him. "I've certainly never seen those before, maybe they only grow here."

"some times it's nice. Like when you can get clean and stay dry for the rest of the day." She nodded a bit. She usually tried to clean herself up before she found somewhere to sleep for the night with her mate. It always felt better to not have crusted on mud all night. "It's a drawback that i can live with though. Everything else makes it worth it."
She nodded again at the mention of trees. "yes, those ones! They must only grow here. i dont remember them anywhere else we wandered. Maybe it has to do with the water?"

"That's true," he said with a small smile, "I'd rather be clean and dry when I'm sleeping, especially when I'm with you." Sleeping with her when he was all muddy and grimy wasn't very appealing, he had to admit.
"I think maybe it must," he said with a nod, his brows furrowing a little as he thought about it, "though I couldn't say why. Maybe there's someone in the pride that knows, though, since they've lived here longer and all."

"I should ask one of them when i get a chance." She nodded. "I'm sure they know all about this place and what's in it." She would love to learn too. She had always liked knowing about the earth and she knew someone around here would be willing to teach her. she just had to find them.

"Well, when you ask them, I'd like to know what they say," he said softly, letting his eyes close as he leaned into her, smelling the scent of her fur mingled with that of the swamp. "It'd be nice to know more about our home, especially if we're going to be raising cubs here sometime soon." It was somewhat of a touchy subject to be talking about between them, but it had to be talked about eventually.

"Of course i'll tell you." She laughed softly as she nuzzled him. It would be strange to learn something and not tell him too. He was her other half and should know the same things she did.
At the mention of cubs her smile fell slightly. " .... i think i would like to try again. Have a family this time ... where no one can hurt them"

He opened one eye to look up at her as she spoke, noticing the change in her demeanor. He opened the other and turned his head to watch her, trying not to frown as he listened. Then, with a small nod, he leaned in to return her nuzzle. "I'd like to as well," he said slowly, then turned to looked back out at the swamp, "now that we have a place safe from the rest of the world."
He turned back to look at her with a smile, albeit a small one, leaning his head into hers. "You should talk to one of the older pride members about the swamps, yeah? The more we know, the better prepared we'll be for it."

"Yes ... safe from all the evils that are out there." She never wanted her cubs to come into contact with anyone like her old pride leader again. Children of Roshan's deserved to survive and deserved to be happy. "Cubs seem happy here .... all the water and mud to play in." Her smile returned slightly.
"I will speak to them the first chance i get"
