I'm interested in what goes on behind the sunny, cutesy exteriors of the pages Gaia members see. Of course I like the exteriors too, or I wouldn't be here. Let's look at more of what runs those things! Current last week's news: The extravagantly priced shop Dernier Cri with a faux-Scandinavian proprietor ( Tak is thanks in Swedish). A gold sink to be sure. Gaia's sister site, Gaia Star Online. Gaia US sold their intelligence to the Red Chinese, who will then follow much the same path that Gaia US has...lure a userbase in with cute images then stick them for RL cash. It already has many wringing their hands over Americans who invaded the site just like they did. But that's all old news...

Forgot, because the anxious meltdowns of embarrassed hypocrites was so interesting...the Chinese site says some amazing things. The "60" on the site means the country is celebrating 60 years since the Communist overthrow. A celebratory post by a mod (!) reads: Quote: In this post after the thread to express their motherland and the mother's blessing, laughter, full of blessing, let us wish the mother of 60-year-old loudly Huan Happy Birthday Bar! 在祖国60周年华诞即将到来之时,我们为祖国送上最特别的祝福。 In the country of the upcoming 60th anniversary of the birthday, we send for the country's most special blessings. 祝福她,百年和平; Bless her, a hundred years of peace; 祝福她,万年,万万年。 Bless her, million years, Wan Wannian. 也祝福她,从最初的建国到现在的稳定发展,成为全世界承认的发展大国。 And we wish her, from the initial state to the current stable development as the world's recognition of the development of power. 祖国,我们的母亲。 The motherland, our mother. 在这里,祝你生日快乐! Here, I wish you a happy birthday! 祖国,我们的母亲。 The motherland, our mother. 在这里,儿女们发自内心的祝福! Here, children are blessings from the heart! 母亲,祝福你! Mother, bless you! 母亲的慈爱,母亲的悲怜,母亲这些年来,遇到过多少难关,都已经度过了。 Mother's love, mother's Beilian, the mother of these years, encountered many difficulties, have been spent. 用我们真心的祝福,来祝福它吧。 With our sincere blessings to bless it bar. :V wow.

I didn't know about that site. It looks interesting. Kind of makes me wish I knew Chinese.
So it's been invaded by the Gee Dee.
...Well that's a fate worse than death. *shivers*

lolol. Since they imported Gaia they have to import -everything- it's like importing from them and getting weevils in the products. It's all part of the package! xD
It's ironic that the hand-wringers don't realize how these "rude Americans" are made. No morals, no discipline and plenty of exposure to ugly things makes for mannerless, unfeeling kids. Oh, but their horizons have been broadened. Yay.

Facebook and GaiaOnline : Not a match made in heaven. If you have chatty friends who post every hour or so, and a weakness for repetitive clicking/spreadsheet games as all who enjoy the Gaia events must, then FB will neatly pluck away many Gaia hours and transfer them to itself. Whee! But, Gaia's goal is to monetize, monetize, monetize, and since FB has proved that it can do that, Gaia's eager to go along and soak up some reflected glory.

Kira84 ...I'm guessing you got sucked in. On the subject of repetitive yet addictive facebook games twisted let me recommend mindjolt and kongregate. I'm so transparent! And thanks. Next, Gaia blasphemy! Blasphemy on Gaia (or anywhere really) is not new, but can they be committing the unforgivable sin? The heralds of the Halloween 2k9 event, [NPC] S.I.N. and [N.P.C.] B.O.O. broadly represent agents of Heaven and Hell. Nothing new again: Gaia's been on the angelic/devilish theme since its inception. However, calling an angel "Boo" connotes that it is a ghost, it represents something angelic, even holy, and one name for the spirit of the Godhead is the Holy Ghost. The one unforgivable sin Jesus mentioned ( Matthew 12:31-32, Mark 3:28-29 and Luke 12:10) is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.Giving B.O.O. an image that looks like a corporate logo for the Aquarium Overseer does not help.

Hey, now that you mention it, it does look like the overseer.
I remember going over the unforgivable sin in church, but the translation the preacher used did not use the word blasphemy, it was something like 'knowingly rejects the Holy Spirit,' or... I don't remember. He was using some weird translation that he swears by, that isn't published any more. I can't remember what it's called.
Boo is a poor name for the good guy... I think it's just supposed to be in the spirit of halloween, with the ghosts and all. Casper the friendly ghost, type of thing. I think. I don't really like how it was done, and haven't decided whether or not to participate.
Did you choose a side?

Did not choose yet. I will probably play both sides. In other news, this may be old hat to Aquarium patrons, but new to me - some clever coders came up with This Glow Time application that will give you the goods on any tank you wish to analyze. Cool stuff. Those games you mentioned, Kongregate and Mindjolt - are they playable through Facebook, or does one play them on their own sites?

Analyze tanks? What?
Mindjolt games are played on facebook. The links to games on the kongregate page (on facebook) redirect you to kongregate.com. I think it asks you to make an account at some point. But, it's a free account and it's linked to your facebook account, if you make it through facebook. It's a reputable site, though. I think kongregate is better... the downside is that there's a chat thingy, and I think most people on the site are under thirteen years old.

They changed kongregate. Now there is no kongregate page on facebook, and it doesn't sign you in automatically when it redirects. Since I apparently didn't use an email account to sign up (probably because I signed up from facebook) my password is unrecoverable. >.<
How annoying. But, kongregate is a very good site for the time-killing games.

Well, that's weird. I would think the only ones to leave Facebook would be those individuals realizing it wastes too much time, not game companies. Unless FB charges them for accounts.
The Gaia Halloween event is well under way. The winning side gets to keep the (removable but soulbound) faction skin. BOO skin is clammy-pale and the eyes are tiny and red, and appear to be without the faculty of vision. SIN skin is red, rough and tattooed. The SIN side is expected to win as it has more people and slightly better items. Jokes have been made about the symbolism of the event - in the animated graphic of the battle, the male side has a thrusting weapon, the female side a gaping hole. WUT?
Oh, and the Overseer in our Aquariums has been replaced with one of the boytoy mermen from the Venus pool. Hmm.
Back to the event - I wonder how many people realized it's less time and effort to exchange game items between teams instead of trying to build them. The initial loot items for one side are identical to the end loot, so there's not much sense in trying to painfully build them up if you have buddies who will swap with you.
More rats pressing levers...sigh.

Hmmm...I believe Gaia's stolen some music. :/ The beginning of Debussey's "Serenade for the Doll" from Children's Corner Suite sounds like one of the pieces in zOMG.
It's not a crime to steal works that are old, because old works are not protected by copyright, but the assumption is that because it's so old, everyone will know you're not the genius that came up with it.

Do you come up with this stuff by yourself? It's quite brilliant, methinks. People can find something wrong with anything. If Mario Super Sluggers promotes gay sex then I'm pretty sure a Coke bottle can be a tool of evil some how or another
