AZ Sheriff Stripped of Immigration Powers

It probably did have to do with politics. He actually enforces immigration law, so Democrats really don't like him. The media hates him. Liberals I've talked to are convinced that everyone must agree--and yet he keeps getting reelected.

I don't think it's ever going to get through to them that most Americans and legal immigrants do not approve of illegal immigration, and want those laws enforced.

In other news, Rev. Sharpton apparently knows how to pronounce Arpaio's name now. I got a laugh out of seeing him on the news... months ago... making accusations of racism while mispronouncing his name.

I'm guessing one of the federal rights stripped was the ability to arrest someone even if their feet are on the other side of the border.
Well, at least these weren't longstanding rights, but...it's like sacking some of the army when you still need protection. How bizarre. I'm glad we don't share a border with China.

As for liberals, one thing to remember -- they are ALWAYS RIGHT. I mean left.

...All right, so maybe 'Arpaio' doesn't really have the most... intuitive pronunciation around, but still. If you're going to be on national television, you should really check that sort of thing.

biggrin Next question: how do you pronounce 'mogollon rim.' Hint: it's not mug-goy-on.

...I recently viewed a cheeseball movie during a late homework session, and at the beginning the Texas sheriff, our hero, was taunted by mobsters who escaped just to the other side of the Mexican border. Of course, he arrested them anyway. That's what made me think of that. xD

Ah. I have this friend who keeps trying to convince me that Arpaio is the Antichrist, so I was trying to remember if I had heard any stories about him... or rather, people who work for him, dragging someone back over the border so they could arrest him. I don't think I have, so I was a little confused.
