Age: 21
Gender: Female
Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: N/A - Claims to be healercraft.
Rank: N/A - Claims to be an apprentice.

Physical Description: Luci is not too tall, not too short. At five feet five inches, one hundred ten pounds, she's what one would expect from someone so active. Running around the Weyr trying to get things done just burns away those calories like you wouldn't believe.

Her skin is a paler shade than some, but doesn't lack the gift of the sun's color completely. Her face has mostly small features; her eyes, even, are more slanted and thin than most peoples.

Being someone in her position, she gets only the best of the best when it comes to beauty products. Her hair is shoulder length, black and always neat and tidy. Being a Weyrwoman, she must keep up with appearances.

Luci envies the light eyed people, as hers, nearly a dark enough shade to be considered black, aren't too pretty.

History: The history of the High Reaches Weyrwoman, while not tragic, has dramatic undertones mocking some kind of Pernese Soap Opera. None of her family died in some horrible accident; they are all alive and well. Their numbers total three: her father, her mother and one elder sister. Both parents are very no-nonsense, and paid tribute to their Telgar roots (which she will deny up and down she has) by reflecting the traditionalists values and incorporating them into their lifestyle.

Her sister, to her, was one of those girls. She who does no wrong. Beautiful, smart, popular and charming. Luci never found it in her to be jealous of her sibling. On the contrary, she saw her as an idol; a person to be looked up to and rivaled in an admirable way. Still, she was always anxious to live up to the standards she had set for herself, and in turn, Luci.

Things never went quite how she planned. Somehow, something always went wrong. Bad luck or no luck, that's what Luci would say on the matter. A journeyman healer many turns her senior caught her eye fairly young. This did not please her parents, but like a typical rebellious teenager, she continued fawning over the man anyway. She bothered him day in and day out to make her an apprentice, and no matter how many times he tried to ship her off to a hall and told her she could only find true apprenticeship there, she still followed him like a lost puppy. She didn't want to go to the hall. She wanted him to teach her. Finally, he caved. Although Luci never did become a recognized healer, she maintains a knowledge of the craft today.

The morning she awoke to find her teacher just up and left was a day of mixed emotions. She was angry, sad, worried, angry some more and sad some more all at once. So, she waited. And waited. And waited. When he didn't come back, and she got Searched, she jumped on the opportunity. If he didn't want her around, maybe a dragon would.

The first year she stood, she Impressed Gold Dorath. The rest, well...

That's High Reaches history. Literally.

Personality: Among friends, Luci has compared being a Weyrwoman to being a drudge; someone is always telling you what you should do, but no matter what action you take in response, there's always, always more work. She tries to be diplomatic and fair to everyone, but the personality she's equipped with just wasn't assembled for such purposes. She plays favorites; she knows she does and she knows it's a problem. When the Weyr needs the Weyrwoman instead of just Luci, she will look to her more unbiased counterpart D'astel to help decide. Often she finds herself torn between what the right thing to do is and what would be just rolling over and acting like a good little goldrider. She desperately wants to be an ideal Weyrwoman no matter how many times she complains, but at the same time, she doesn't want to be assumed the standard for one. They always seem stuffy and stuck up, don't you think? Luci does, and that's why she's torn between knowing if there really is a "right" way, or if there are simply just options and everyone keeps picking the same one.

Just as there are many things about her that keep her from being the perfect, flawless Weyrwoman she thinks Pern is so used to, there are many that make her better suited for it. Luci is a keen observer of humanity. If something is wrong with someone, she usually picks it up, and usually in a hurry. During times of crisis she can be counted on to mobilize the Weyr and soothe it's residents. She's persuasive in her cheerfulness because it's genuine; being authentically optimistic herself aids her in convincing everyone things will be just fine. Dorath didn't clutch a gold? No worries. There will be one next time. Relax. High Reaches will have enough dragons.

Many mistake her as thoughtful, but it's just that. A mistake. Luci experiences life to the fullest in her own way. That is, by living in the moment. Long term consequences don't attract her attention too often, and the next Weyrwoman may find themselves groaning at the disorder she's left behind. She kept things going when she was Weyrwoman and that's all that matters. Decisions are made not based on any real foresight, but on her own personal standards. Seldom does she plan ahead. Her instincts are trustworthy and she believes in herself to step up to the plate and deal effectively with any challenge, even if it's spontaneously so. If she is forced to sit down and outline something, odds are the schedule isn't going to be followed, anyway.

Luci is a great team player as long as she gets to be leader. She doesn't mind taking opinions--or even asking for them--but the final say should be hers. Working with people is like flipping a coin; it could end up good or bad and there's really no way to tell for sure until it happens. She certainly enjoys being around people, and that works in her favor. Plus, she's creative with her problem solving. Why can't work and play be blended together? Active at all times, or unhappy when she isn't, sitting still through long, tedious meetings bores the sharding wits out of her. Since Luci was a child, she's liked to learn through a hands-on approach. Lingering in a classroom setting was never anything she wanted to do, nor was it effective. Studying records proves futile because, put bluntly, she doesn't care what they say.

It's a shame she's "obligated" to punish trouble makers given Lucy is considered one herself by her critics. Truth be told, she's actually fond of the rough and tumble, prankster and individualist types. However, it's been told to her time and time again respect is very important. Even if she doesn't think her title should always be treated super seriously no matter what, society does, so she needs to at least act like it. Still, she grows fond of these sorts of people, especially when they're ones she sees regularly. To them she may act as a sort of big sister, teasing them and flicking their ear. But only when no one "important" is looking. Being as she is a very specific person, she makes it clear her personal favoritism will not influence her official variety. (Or so she says, anyway.)

Her empathy with others is a good and bad thing because her shoulder is more commonly offered as leaning post to those with problems she herself has been through. It makes her well-liked by people with these issues, but it sometimes makes her seem biased to those without them. The firm support of "girl power" manifested after her teacher thoughtlessly left her behind and she realized, wow, I've really let that guy walk on me. But just because she'll rally for women doesn't mean she'll rally against men. No, Luci likes men. A lot. Maybe too much, if anything. She likes them alone, she likes them with her, and she likes them, ahem, together. A little known talent of hers is sketching, and the drawings themselves tend to be of male riders. Two at a time, if you get the drift. Like a true, giggling fangirl, she'll show these to Dorath with both amused and horrified results.

Since she did come from a Hold, she lacked the immediate knowledge of the way a Weyr works. In that regard, the Weyrbrats had a one-up on her. Luci was allowed to jump to her own conclusions which later became opinions which later became set in stone. That stone became not only hers, but the entire Weyr's when she was named Weyrwoman. She's got her own ideas of how things should work and can be stubborn. Her Hold-born morality, however, she's more flexible about. Sometimes, she'll hear a voice telling her something not-so-nice and swear it sounds like her mother. She manages to hush it, and she's convinced what matters is what you do, not what you think to yourself.

Not even D'astel has realized the full extent to just how overwhelmed she can get by negativity on the inside when left alone to think. She's learned to remedy this by coming up with solutions or explanations that may or may not be sound. Why should she care if all the older riders think she's doing a horrible job? They'll all die soon. So there.

Given the serene silence that is Gold Dorath, most can only wonder why she'd choose to Impress a rider like Luci. She's not any more or less complex than her rider, though; just harder to figure out because she doesn't openly express things near as much. To the public, she is quiet, polite, all around well-mannered. In truth, and especially in Luci's eyes, she is so much more. And, contrary to popular belief, Dorath does have a temper. The fuse to light it is just very long and burns very slowly. Once it's reached the end, though, look out. She wouldn't hurt a human on purpose, but if she's agitated to an extreme, the individual she's bestowed her wrath upon may wonder about the merits of that claim.

Causes for her anger are as few in number as dragons of her color. Mainly, she doesn't like when people mistreat Hers, and anyone who knows anything about dragons wouldn't expect anything less. Still, Dorath is a bit of an extremist in her loyalties to the Weyrwoman. She might admit Luci is making the wrong choice, but she would never tell her so or agree with anyone about it. She knows Hers would be the same way if she ever stepped out of line. No matter how unlikely that happening is.

Overall, she is friendly, and outgoing in more relaxed settings where she doesn't feel she needs to put on a show of Serious Business. Dare it be said, she can even, gasp, be fun. A lot of fun, actually. She doesn't mind joking around or gossiping about the male dragons. (Did you see how cute that bronze is? My, my!) Speaking of other dragons, it frustrates her she can't remember all of their names. Even so, she tries her very best to at least store away some fact about them so as to be more personable when she encounters them again.

The many things she has in common with Hers are the many reasons she Impressed her. Dorath is a big advocate for female dragons, and as such popular among greens for her support. She shares Luci's loyalty to her friends, as well as her preferences as to whom their friends should be. But they also bring each other balance. Dorath can calm her down and make her stop and think if she gets too rowdy or acts too improper when it's not appropriate. She is happy to say, in exchange for this, Luci can teach amuse and inspire her with her creativity and individualism.

Much like Hers, Dorath does not want to be the standard stereotype for a Weyrwoman's dragon.
