So far am I the only one having the feeling that the publicity and trailers are meant to attract new audience, taking the fans of the first game for granted?

I have to both agree and disagree with you. Although ultamitly the trailers are made for the fans of the original Mass Effect, they're also made to bring in new players. They show bits of the story, bringing in back fans of the first, and they show tons of action to bring in a new audiance who either were put off by ME1's combat or just thought that ME1 lacked action.

I've been to Hell and back again, confronted Lucifer.
And stared right through his eyes
I chose a side

To be honest, when I see the trailers, I just get that "holy s**t I want this game" kinda rush. mrgreen So I like them and they meet both the ends of the players of the first and draw in new players.

The end of Jesus Christ, how pathetic,
And the flames are shooting out,
Revenge of the devil

I didn't think so. They were trying to recapture the attention of players of the first ME, but then trying to rope in new players as well. Bioware hasn't forgotten us veterans, I assure you 4laugh

I kind of disagree. i mean, the next mass effect game does continue off of your record from the original mass effect, which shows it wants to keep its old fans.

and since mass effect already has a pretty solid fanbase, it does make sense that they'd want a larger audience. kind of like the disney & marvel thing going on.

I'm not saying it doesn't make sense.
I'm simply saying it seems like they are really working on a new audience.

The fact that character and decsions will transfer is almost afirst (Baldur's gate had a good transfer of character from 1 to 2 but bioware was behind and it was far less complex)

I was simply pointing out that so far they seem to be running after new people taking hardcore fans (like us I guess? lol) for granted.
