This was it. Menuha had finally decided. She didn't want to stay here any longer. She wanted to see the world beyond the borders of the pride. And...her mother, she was somewhere out there as well. Her oldest sister too. How she wanted to meet them, wanted to know what they were like. All those stories she had herd about far away lands had stirred something deep inside of her. The adventurer in her urged her to leave this place behind. Mollie had already left. If she could do it, why not her?
Menuha stopped and sighed. Looking over her shoulder to Pride Rock peaking in the distance, she thought about her father and Mii'ah. "I'll visit sometimes. I promise." She said softly. She wished her brother was with her. Where had he disappeared to? She had felt closest to him and now she had no idea where he was. She didn't know if he'd even consider leaving with her, but she wished she could have told him goodbye.

The adolescent pridelander had been wandering all day, sneaking around the pride's boarders and every so often coming within range of the center. Since distancing himself from his family he'd come to realize how big this place was, their land was vast and he still wondered what was beyond it. He wondered if the world ever ended, if his eyes would see it all, if his paws would get wet in other places or his fur get muddy. Smiling he thought about his sisters, how the thought had made his skin crawl when he was younger but now it was a warming feeling he felt for them. Yes, sisters weren't as bad as he'd originally expected. His mind drifted to his one sister, she had been many things for him, basically a brother to him as he was a cub. Now, well, since he'd been walking along the distant sides of the pride where most lions didn't bother going these days he hadn't seen her in ages.
"It must have been ages, I wonder how she fairs...."
Red eyes peered off to his side as he heard a voice below his own. Quietly he approached the lioness' voice. It sounded so familiar, maybe his mind had left to a dark place but it sounded like Menuha's. It was! His sister's black ears and golden body stood out somewhat over their current location and he half thought of pouncing her playfully. Jelani hadn't seen his sister in ages however and thought it was best not to, being as she was almost a full grown lioness she might have the claws and teeth to injure him purely out of reaction. Eyes glistening with pride in seeing her grown, as after all, he was her brother, the lion moved carefully towards her.
"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes!"
He called out, making sure he was seen prior to being right up ontop of her.

At the sound of the familiar voice Menuha's eyes went wide and she snapped her head in the direction from which it came. A bright smile blossomed on her lips as she saw her brother, whom she had missed so much. She felt an almost irresistible urge to run towards him, wrap her paws around him and nuzzle him. He beat her to it though and quite suddenly she found herself pinned to the ground under her brother's weight.
"Nice to see you too. Damn, you've grown!" She exclaimed in between laughs as she pushed with her paws, attempting to get him off of her. She pulled his head towards her, biting his ear and pulling on it with a playful growl. It had been ages since the last time they played like that and she savored every second of it. They weren't cubs anymore an these games would have to stop eventually.
"Where the heck have you been?" She asked after a while. "I've been looking all over for you!"

A mix between a low growl and whine came from under Jelani's tongue. He was being just as playful, it's not like he couldn't be, she knew he was kidding around. Smiling he stepped to the side as to let his sister up, she was right for the both of them, they were much more grown than before. Tipping his head from side to side as if a head-shrug he relinquished his bright smile for a dull version.
"I've been just traveling the pridelands, mostly the boarders really. Don't think many lions or lionesses go out on those old paths anymore, most of them were fairly grown over."
Curling his tail around to his side the lion sighed and placed his rump on the ground, it wasn't cold nor was it overly hot. The day was alright, all things considered it was actually above alright. He stretched out his front paws, claws digging slightly into the dirt before pulling them back and turning to focus again on his sister.
"And yourself? Where in gods name did you get off to? I haven't seen any of the family since we were cubs, and that just feels like ages ago these days."
His red eyes followed a few wandering flies and for a moment his mind wandered. He hadn't known his mother, nor most of his family at all. He wondered what that was because of but didn't bother interrupting his greeting to study it further. There was plenty of time to do all that.

Menuha rolled over onto her paws and got up, shaking her coat to get any dirt off of it and to smooth it out. She grinned at him happily. "Been I while since I rolled in the dirt like that." Her grin disappeared and her brows furrowed as her brother's expression suddenly turned dull. She nodded, green eyes sweeping the area. It was completely unknown to her, she realised. And she considered herself adventurous.
"No, not really. I've only seen the older going off in this direction. In fact, I don't think I've ever been to this practicular place before myself. Good thing I did though, hm?"
It was so incredibly lucky that they ran into each other here of all places. Looks like her decision to leave was a good thing after all. Speaking of that, she would have to tell him that she was going away. Ears drawing back and she frowned slightly as she wondered how to say it. She didn't have much time for that though as he asked the question she was worrying about.
"Well that's your own fault, you know, condemning yourself to a life of solitude like that!" She said with a smirk in regards to his comment about not seeing his family. She had felt abandoned when her closest sibling had left her. But now that she was here, with him, it somehow didn't matter anymore. She sat down next to him and rubbed her nose against his cheek. "I was furious with you, you know that?"
Pulling away she looked into his red eyes, her expression serious. "And me...I'm going away, Jelani. I don't want to stay here anymore. Sure, I'll visit dad sometimes, but I don't want to live here. You could..come with me if you want to?" She asked carefully, not knowing what to expect.

"You were...you are...wait what?
As if his words didn't speak fairly enough for him the lion seemed more perplexed than he had by originally running into his sibling on this big land. She'd been mad at him, well, that was expected, not entirely to his desire but he understood why. But she was leaving? The pridelands? They'd spent their entire lives here, it was hard to think of leaving their home. And then she asked him, well, offered him to join her. Join her where? Where would she go? Where would she stay when the rains came, or when hunters from nearby prides went into a rage on their hunts? Would she even be able to take down big enough prey to survive? Jelani just stared, blankly at her, although it seemed as though his red eyes were floating right through her instead. Shaking it off he flicked his ears back, thinking for the worst of his own sister, now that was bad.
"So where do you plan on going? Have you a plan to survive? Are you traveling with anyone...a male perhaps?
Big brother mode definitely ran away with his tongue on that last bit. Although, if she was traveling with her mate, or a larger male, then she'd be far better off than a lone female would.

Menuha flinched at the look in her brother's eyes and suddenly wished she hadn't said anything. She hadn't thought about where she was going at all. All she knew was that she wanted to get away from it all. "I don't know. Just..I just want to see what's out there. Haven't you ever wondered about the world outside the borders?" She looked at him pleadingly. If his words and the tone with which they were spoken were any indication, he wasn't tempted by the idea.
"And what do you expect me to do anyway? You were missing, Molemogi left to find Msilivuma and Mii'ah and I have never been close. What is there here to hold me back?" The look in her eyes hardened. Could he not understand? He had isolated himself from the pride, she didn't see how her choice was that different from his. The only difference was that she wanted to travel more.
She shook her head. "No, just me. It's not like I'd be the only lioness wandering alone. I can fight and I can hunt." She said proudly. "I can take care of myself."

Jelani hushed his tongue at her words, they weren't any more painful than he had expected them to be. After all, yes, he had completely ditched his family a long time ago - more or less. He had become a ghost, and as such, not one to be around anyone for extended periods of time. Never the less his ears flattened at her comment of his expectations, honestly? Did she really want to know that he always figured, no matter time or distance, that he'd come back to the main prideland area and find each member of his family there. Just as they had been, personality and all? No, she probably did not. This would get her uppity again, something the male highly did not want.
Giving his sister a moment to cool her jets he spoke, softly and without anger. He had nothing he could do to explain his actions for her acceptance and all he had now was to focus on the then, and the future. She was going alone? Strong and brave or not, she was his sister. His sister didn't do things alone if he could help it, but part of him was definitely glad she had no mates or boyfriends yet. This was the brightest part of the day so far, boyfriends, who needed 'em.
"This does not surprise me, that you'll be leaving the lands in search of the outside world. Yes, I've wondered, but I also know these lands well and it's good to have comfort in familiar things."
He smiled smugly, looking around from rock to rock and cloud to cloud. This was his home, always had been, but wandering...it did sound fun.
"I assume you'll go after mother and our sister as one of your plans? Have you any leads as to where they are these days? Lionesses travel quite a bit from what I hear."
Jelani decided a random joke in reference to Menuha's wandering spirit was needed, to both loosen the air and let the realization out that she was just as much like what he envisioned their mother to be as she might think she was. A wanderer. Nothing to tie her down. Thinking about it more in depth, he realized this was exactly what she was.

At her brother's soft spoken words Menuha suddenly felt ashamed. She hadn't meant to loose her temper like that. This was her brother, the being closest to her in the whole world and she knew he was merely concerned for her. As she was for him. Her anger drained away and Menuha mentally slapped herself for her outburst. She wouldn't screw up her first meeting with her brother since they were cubs.
"Yeah, I suppose that's true." She nodded with a sigh. "But it's that damn curiosity of mine, I just can't help it. It's pulling at me and I can't resist."
It had always been like that, even when they were cubs. Menuha would drag her brother all over, exploring, looking for something even tough she didn't know what was it she hoped to find. For a time she had thought that Jelani had ran away because of her and the endless wanderings but as she grew older she shook off those childish fears.
"I was thinking about it." She admitted. "No, I don't have any idea where they might be. But you know what they say, it's a small world." She winked at him and chuckled at his remark. It seemed that Menuha did indeed have a lot of her mother in her, but lately she was beginning to loose interest in the subject. She had made it without her so far, she didn't need a mother. She had her brother. Meeting her would certainly be an interesting experience, but she didn't get excited over the thought like before.

Smiling the somewhat grown male couldn't think of much else to do besides sit and smile, his sister had always been a wandering soul - this was obvious by every bit of their childhood. With now being no exception, even as a older lioness she was still just as spunky and set for the unknown as before..it was good to have some things remain the same. Rotating a paw Jelani noted his sister's last set of words and nodded, indeed, their mother could be anywhere or close by - but to chase after such a lioness would be foolish...yet somehow rewarding in part.
"Yes, it is a small world. I've seen a few lions and lionesses from the pride meet family they'd never even seen before, simply by run-in. It wouldn't surprise me if you bumped into our mother that way at some point."
Half of him scoffed at the remark he made about a mother he had never known. Oh well, he'd almost completely forgotten that along with his mother they also had a sister out there somewhere. Since being separated from all of his family the young male had learned to forget many parts of his past that no longer pertained, like where his father was, and his mother. As horrid as it was to admit, Jelani had basically completely forgotten the lioness. She had served to be but a lonesome memory in his thoughts and that was less than a desirable addition to his mind.
"So you're going to leave the pride to explore hum? Well I can't say I'm not slightly worried about you venturing off, but I did the same at a younger age - so I have no room to speak there. Just keep your mind about you."
The pridelands had always been a safe haven for himself and his sister, their romps were carefree because the lions here had placed themselves in a point of power and duty. But out in the wild, not at home, well he had no idea. Everything was stories told to him by passing groups or singles making their way around the land, this would be a true test for many things....strength and bond. But their sibling bond had brought them together again, and it would once more occur if given the chance.
"So what would you care to see first?"
Trying to lighten the mood that had struck his mind Jelani leaned a bit, cautious but comfortably on his hunches and looked to his sister, wondering what was going through her mind about this adventure.

"No, it wouldn't be that surprising, would it?" Tough at the same time it seemed highly unlikely for such a by-chance encounter to occur. "An can you imagine how many other creatures I could 'bump' into just wandering about?" Green eyes shone with excitement. The world was at her paws and the adventure was just beginning. When she thought about what could be waiting for her beyond the borders, not meeting her mother again seemed like a fair trade. Besides, if she did meet her, what would she say? 'I missed you'? She hadn't. Not for a long time.
"Exactly!" She smiled triumphantly. "I will, brother. You do the same." He wasn't going anywhere, but it was entirely possible that trouble could find him here.
"I suppose...I might swing by the Mistwavers." That land had a very mystical feel about it. Definitely something that sparked her curiosity. "Away from the desert." She had no intention of crossing paths with Firekin. They were a dangerous bunch.
"After that - wherever my paws take me!" Unplanned trips were much more fun in her opinion.
