Fable 2 did it and I thought it was a good idea.
What slightly annoyed me in the way that Mass Effect gave you paragon/Renegade points was that it was linked to BOTH being "good or evil" AND to your love of non human characters....
I think a gauge that would put you "good or evil" and one that would change according to how you act with aliens would give you much more freedom in your actions..."I'm nice but I dislike aliens, I like aliens but hey, I kill humans and aliens the same lol)
Just wondering if I'm alone who had the feeling that the alien love and the "righteous actions" were mixed a bit too much together in thefirst game.

I've been to Hell and back again, confronted Lucifer.
And stared right through his eyes
I chose a side

In a way, the Paragon and Renegade options aren't precisely good or evil, it's more, in D&D terms, "Lawful Good" and "Chaotic Good"

As in, you do everything for everyone, or you do just what you need to do to get the job done. Though I do agree that mixing the species-ism and the lawful or chaotic into one bar was a bit odd.

So, actually, I like your idea. It'd work out better.

yeah, I agree. It worked really well for fable 2 (well, I didn't like the appearance changes much in fable 2).

The Fable 2 alignment system is similar to D&D

Chaotic Good: Does things, usually wreckless, for the greater good
Lawful Good: Does good by the book
Neutral Good: I guess a little from column A, a little from Column B.

Et cetera, et cetera

True.
I mentionned one toward aliens because of the fact that it seems to be thrown in with being a paragon or a renegade, being nice or not, being good or not, respecting aliens or not, etc.

My familiarity with the D&D is limited to Baldur's gate original games/expansion and to neverwinternight 1 and 2 (and all expansions)
But it is enough to understand your loyal good "neutral evil" etc.
