The savanna seemed a hum with life in the afternoon. Various hoofed creatures made their rounds and various predators made their chance to eat said hoofed creatures.
Bura was no exception to this cycle as she stalked through the tall grass. Her crimson eyes on the search for maybe something weak and easy for her to sink her teeth into. If not that, left overs from one of the bigger predators. Maybe a bone to chew on?
Being a smaller predator made things a tad tougher, but Bura managed. She was still alive wasn't she?
A few lone lions up ahead looked like they had promise of leaving their kill. It seemed they had feasted on most of it but there was a few good bits left. Bura sunk lower into the grass to wait for them to leave. Her tongue flicked out and licked at her muzzle. The kill left overs would be more then enough for the small black widow Jackal. Heck, a few jackals could feast on its remains and still be perfectly happy.

It seemed another scavenger had the same idea as the small female, but this one was quicker to the punch. The lions turned and left, carrying on about the success of their hunt and laughing, their bellies full to the brim, but all that the colorful jackal could hear was the growling of his own stomach in his ears. Before they were even out of sight, Midas darted forward and dug into the corpse, indistinguishable from what it had once been.
The jackal tore into it, oblivious to other going ons for how distracted he was by the banquet before him.

The female could have fallen backwards. Bura hadn't even noticed another jackal near by. And a male at that. She wasn't gonna let him feast alone on that kill, she had a claim to it too as far as she was concerned.
Bura took bold paw steps forward toward the kill, her chest puffed out and her hair standing straight up. A flash of ivory dagger like teeth shown and a small growl raddled from her throat.
"Hey!" She said, "I was stalking that kill too." It sounded childish even to her but she was hungry. Hunger did strange things to even the most rational of creatures.

Midas only briefly looked up at the voice, and satisfied that it was no real threat to himself he continued eating, digging through the chest cavity for any tender organs or muscles left and neglected by the chefs of the feast. "Well that's very nice for you, isn't it? I'm sorry, but I had it first. You can have the leftover leftovers, if you'd like, though." His tail wagged as he tore into the flesh, and taking another moment as he chewed it over, he again raised his head to look at the jackal in a thoughtful manner. It was a female, and she was kinda cute at that. He grinned, his mouth full and chomping at tough meat.
The jackal tried to swallow, but only succeeded in choking on the flesh a little a choking. He looked at her sheepishly, then cast his eyes down while clearing his throat. "Who are you, anyway?"
That was a lame excuse for trying to find out more about her, and he was utterly oblivious in a typical manner, that really all this female was concerned with was a meal, not a date. He chuckled and smiled, "Oh, how rude of me, why don't you eat some first?" He scooted over cordially, as though he was offering of his own kill, rather than giving her what was rightfully due.
What a gentleman.

The female lowered her brow at the male but did not argue. She was more hungry then annoyed. The jackal gave the male one last glare before bending over and taking quick bites. You had to eat as fast as you could when your size was limited. It didnt take much time for her to finish her full or food. She happy now.
Bura did drag a good portion of meat away with her , though, as she backed up giving room for the male. Alot was still left and she needed to bring something home for her sister.
"Who am I?" The jackal grinned, "I'm Bura. Whats it to you?" Yeah, she was still a little sore about earlier. But she didn't want to fight, the male had given her first dibs after all.

Midas smiled as he watched her eat, thinking she must not only be filling up on food but with gratitude as well. She took an awfully large piece with her which made him a little put off. Obviously she didn't intend to be around for a conversation. He sighed, but answered her smile with one of his own.
"Curiosity is all. They say it killed the cat, but you and I don't have that problem, hmm?" He sat nearby and threw out his chest a little. "I'm Midas."
