The Alarming Greet
User ImageUser Image

He was just strolling around. Trying to keep whatever it is that he could, warm. Amuru's body. It was always quite cold for him, especially when Tao left his side to go on and find a place to hibernate.
That day was actually not the warmest, being fall. The trees were changing; and though a good sight Amuru was always left on the edge of his seat. Leaves scared him. Especially when his hooves hit them and the satisfying 'crunch' hit the wind. The sudden sound would make this great big stallion whinny like a young colt.

He had tightened his scared around his neck more to keep in whatever little warmth it gave off. At this moment in time Amuru was looking for a good field to feed in. Being a 'great big stallion' meant much food. And then a crunch occurred and sent him shooting towards the field. Fear streaking up his back. He had spotted a big black wolf the morning so of course he was on more of a guard.

Her little "brother" Corann nowhere in sight, N'rai sighed as she trotted about with in the woods, careful to stay hidden within areas of darker colors. Her coat the perfect blend for hiding in dark shadows and the darkness of night, N'rai, at the moment, was content to wander about with no Hunter scouring for her flesh. Currently she was reviewing the two strangest meetings of her life: two royal Winds, and nearly within the same week! Both, of course, were quite literally the opposite of the other.

One was dark as her; they might have been related, in fact, had she had wings. The other was light as day... the only thing the two had in common, she thought wryly, was that they were both a bit arrogant. Of course, she herself being terrified of making them angry didn't let her say a single word of that, but no matter. She was safe, she was alive... that's all that was important! An open field void of any Hunters or likewise predators caught her eye as she edged out of the dark forest, sighing happily to have finally found some food to fill her grumbling stomach.

She really should have paid more attention. Really. Otherwise, she wouldn't have such an unexpected meeting. Really. But did she know that at this moment? No... because N'rai was about to find herself in the most curious of situations...

Amuru swept into the field and panted as he lowered his head. The massive body shuddered in a cold frenzy as he broke free from the trees. He had forgotten that winds hit trees before they hit any other. Within the field there was no trees to hit.

The inner want to go back into the forest and starve rose, but he knew he'd need his food.
He was a big horse. With the agreement he prepped up his head to look around incase of any danger. When satisfied he lowered his snout to the grasses. Biting down within the grass. Tearing some up and munching away.
A satisfying stretching of his wings occured as well. The large brown wings stretched beyond him.

Little did he know that somewhere on another side would be a female in the same plains; just not of this world. Yet.

She had wandered around the plains plenty enough, oddly feeling picky as she tried to find the juiciest bit of grass in this incorrigible weather. Fall was coming, she knew. With fall, afterward followed by winter, she knew she'd have to find shelter, and soon. Corann had told her he had found a herd to live with, and he had wanted her to come with him, but she couldn't. She was uncomfortable with new herds, and the only reason the little usdia was able to be around her was because she'd found Corann in his basket. Abandoned. She'd adopted him and named him, so she had motherly/sisterly feelings towards him, so that didn't count. Not really.

Finding her way deeper into the plains, she found what she was looking for. With good-natured, soft whinny, she happily began to graze with the most pleasurable smile dancing on her face. As she grazed, however, she suddenly felt a different twitch in her body. She had a nagging feeling she wasn't by herself, though she couldn't pinpoint why she would feel this way. She was by herself, wasn't she? The only horse she could see within miles of these plains were herself and... the grass. Ears swiveling, she glanced up, frowning as she tried to figure out why she felt like she had company.

N'rai was sensitive to the presence of others in her vicinity, so she should have noticed right away she wasn't alone, but she was sure--extremely sure--she was alone. Rather, had been alone. Not anymore. Red eyes continued to scan the area around her as she chewed slowly and thoughtfully. There wasn't anyone other than herself... so, if that was the case, why did she feel as if she wasn't alone? Did she miss something? Did her eyes deceive her? She wasn't one to ignore her gut feeling, but really... this was ridiculous!

Felt the winds around him tell him that he wasn't alone. His body went rigid for a moment and he looked around; but saw nothing. No one stood in the fields. Not even a doe that he found himself from time to time feeding around. Or a buck for that matter.

His own feelings bit at his thighs. The want to run rushed but he didn't Cept he kept near the timber-line. Feeling as if though somehow, some time soon something like a big black beast would come through the other side of the timber-line and eat Amuru for dinner.
Oh he hated his fear, if only Tao was here! The big stallion whinnied in despair of the thought of the big beast.

The strong wings brought the sound of a whinny to her, making her freeze as she double-checked her surroundings. The wind bringing sound to her meant that she most definitely had company, and though she couldn't yet see her "visitor", she had better be careful. Not only that, the whinny sounded male... so, a stallion.

A Hunter? But she was sure she had--no. Hunters never whinnied, period. They snarled, and growled, showed fang, but... whinnied? Shaking her head, scarlet eyes scanned the meadow once more, and as she examined more closely, she found she could make out an unusual shape. So, her initial feeling of not being alone had been correct--she wasn't alone.

Of course, her "companion" was too far away for her to be sure of what breed he was--by this time N'rai was firm in her belief it had to be a stallion--so she stayed in her place, frozen, unsure of what to do. There were few Soquili she met that knew her well, and even then, she was a scared being--like smoke, hard to catch, but easily seen.

Now she was stuck--what to do? Run? Stay? N'rai sighed, annoyed a little at herself for sounded unsure for once. Well, one thing for sure, that unusual shape didn't look like a Hunter... but it wouldn't do for her to let down her guard... best sneak closer to see who it really was.

His gut feeling was to inspect. Talking to some strides left and right. His legs would only let him go so far.
Or would they?

He felt his body pick up a bit more as he searched the center of the plains. He could see something black on the other side. But he dare not go near it. Squinting he let his horrors send shivers up his spine.
It looked like another horse like him. Just smaller. Letting silly things streak through his mind.

Wait.
Just smaller?
she was smaller---Wait.
Are all females smaller? Then myself that is..?

Standing there he stood his own ground, more like. Shook his ground. The unwelcoming cold northern winds brushed through his fur and hair, reminding him of the fall.
Flexing his wings up into the air, wondering maybe the female could see him like he could see her!?
He was cold, and struck with the endless unwant of this predicament; unable to move even though he beckoned himself to.
