Radiant Lily

The woman drew her traveling cloak closer to her neck. It really wasn't like her to get THIS lost. Sure, she did tend to wander off the normal path after going to the market, but when she'd left that nice new tavern, she didn't recognize the area outside the door at all. And when she tried to go back inside--it wasn't a tavern at all, but a little house!! Curiouser and curiouser. She'd only taken a sip of wine to humor the tavern's owner, after all, so she couldn't have been imagining it.

Lily tucked a lock of yellow hair behind her ear and continued on the dirt path that led...somewhere. Where was this place and how did she get here? More importantly, the children back home were without her. The servants were trustworthy enough, but could anyone really blame a mother for wanting to care for her son and daughter herself? Nervous, the woman gripped onto her healing staff--brought along for her own peace of mind more than anything.

The road stretched on and on, finally ending at the gates of a large village. Houses and restaurants and all sorts of other buildings were decked out for some spectacular holiday, she guessed. Frankly, it was a little jarring, after seeing so much forest for so long. If only she could find a way inside somehow, then everything would be peachy keen! Erm, hopefully?

"Halloooooo~~ooo? Anybody home?" she called, staff in one hand, basket of groceries in the other.

User ImageLeena stepped outside the Sparkles Jewelry shop for just one moment to do some late decorating on the outside. She hung up banners, reading in large orange and black letters "Harvest Special! Come in and get 15% off all non-magical accessories for the season!" Pumpkins were on both sides of the banner, smiling.

She set a couple of real pumpkins just outside the door, one she carved, and the other one Leon did. She was so relieved that he returned even after getting that frightening notice of his... fate inside his journal.

Just as she was about to go inside to change into her costume, that of a laguz Heron, the vendor noticed the gates opening. It wasn't surprising, with the holiday season at all to see such. What surprised her was what looked like a lost cleric coming through.

Leena remembered the day when she first met Leon, and how he was lost, from a foreign land. Maybe this newcomer was the same way... lost and alone. "Um... miss..." she said, stepping forward to greet the arriving healer. "My name is Leena, I own the jewelry shop. Are you... um... are you new to Eyris?"

The woman, after staring down the daunting gate for a moment, finally pushed it open. Still not very many people around. She hoped she wouldn't get in trouble for barging in, or anything...

"Ah!"

And then she caught sight of the adorable little shopkeeper! Finally, someone friendly--or at least, someone friendly enough to greet her! Maybe everybody else was at the party already, or they were all busy? Either way, Lily was grateful--another few minutes outside and she would've just died from being so cold and so bored at the same time!

The woman grinned at Leena. "It's nice to meet you, Leena! My name is Lily!" she chirped, waving at the youth happily. "I, um, I suppose I am new to Eyris! Where is this place, anyway?" asked the healer, gazing curiously at one of the carved pumpkins.

"Pleasure to meet you, Lily." Leena said, showing off her trademark "shopkeeper smile" that seemed to be a hidden skill amongst Eyris's vendors. They were always approachable and presentable, for otherwise, sales would be impossible. "Where are we? Well, I'll explain everything the best I can when we're inside." She opened the door to the Sparkles jewelry shop, inviting the cleric inside.

"It's a lot warmer in here. You see, I have a forge, where I make my Crests, Rings, and... other power-increasing items for the Watch, our defenders. That forge keeps things nice and warm, sometimes too warm..." she chuckled slightly. "But now, it makes things juuust right."

A cloaked figure walked on the road towards the stronghold. His red hair was visible under the hood. A bow was slung over his shoulder and a quiver on the other. He walked past all the stores and houses towards the castle.

Lily strode inside the shop, quite thankful for Leena's hospitality. It felt wonderful when the warmth washed over her...she exhaled, glad to finally be out of the October wind.

"It does!" she replied. "Much nicer than outside, that's definitely for sure."

She eyed the merchandise--jewels and trinkets everywhere. All of these things together must have cost a fortune! Lily took great care to tread carefully, lest she trip and break something. (Which would be a lot worse now that she didn't have much gold on her.) The woman decided that maybe sitting down would be better; she took a seat on a nearby chair, setting her basket of groceries by her feet.

"So," she began, "where is this Eyris? We're still in Lycia, right? Oh, I hope I didn't wander out of the country...!"

Leena shut the door behind her, briefly seeing a cloaked figure walk right on by her shop. She guessed that the man wasn't interested? Maybe that was good, as cloaked figures often attempted robbery. As of being a good host, Leena remembered to get some tea off the kettle. She lived in the shop, really, her sleeping quarters were in the back.

After pouring the two of them glasses, the vendor prepared to explain the best she could. This person was like Leon, like FEF. Not from Learania...

"Well, Lily." She begun, saying her name for the sake of being familiar. "I'm sorry to say this isn't Lycia. This country's name is Learania. There are a few others from a placed called "Elibe" here... but... I don't know how, but, it's not in our world. Neither are "Tellius and Magvel." You're... much like a friend of mine. I can tell that he too came from another world. I know it's hard to believe... I at first didn't believe it. Yet, some of our greatest saviors, the guild of FEF, they came from these other places... I think by destiny to help Learania... Eyris."

Oh, hooray, tea! The woman muttered her thanks and picked up her tea, warmth spreading already. Lily looked up at Leena before taking a careful sip: after all, it was still pretty hot.

After listening to what she had to say...she was about twice as confused as she'd been earlier. Well, that wasn't much help, now, was it? Lily furrowed her brow and mulled over Leena's words for a moment.

Yeah, she didn't really get it after thinking more, either.

"Well, Leena..." She paused to take another sip of tea. "I think it's wonderful to travel around and all, and I'd love to see Learania when I've got free time and can take my family along, but I really need to get home soon. What's the quickest way back to Lycia?"

She didn't believe her? What did Lily think that she was making this up? Surely, not! But... the words were clear as crystal. She wasn't believed at all. "I... I'm sorry..." she muttered, not thinking of anything else to say. "But... I don't know how to get back..."

That wasn't going to be a good impression, but it was the truth. The truth hurt sometimes, and it was sad, she just wanted to go home. Lily wasn't like the others, with something to run from. "But maybe the Crew will know something. The Crew, the Leaders of FEF."

Her face fell. "O-oh. I see." It seemed like she'd be missing dinner tonight, then. What a bother...she'd promised the children that she'd cook tonight instead of the servants. It wasn't like her to go back on a promise at all--what would they think of her, then? Downhearted, she stared into her now empty teacup, trying to think of something to say.

"Um...so..." she started, unsure, "If I find these Crew people, I can go home?"

Home. Strangely, it felt like she was so far away, when she'd only been gone a few hours. No matter what she told herself she couldn't shake this strange notion, and it was making the usually chipper woman more than a little uneasy.

"The Crew?" Leena echoed, trying to search her memories of the news of the outside world. She'd had newspapers dropped at her door and not read them for days on end, due to working so hard. She had few helpers, and they had other jobs to do, so she was running this establishment out of home by herself.

She did remember the big headline though. Chieftain of Adliana, coming to Visit! Historic Crew Treaty about to Commence!

User ImageThey were inside the castle ballroom, she was sure of it... after all, the Harvest Feast was going on. "I'll show you the way, to Eyris Castle. The Watch... our guardians... they know me, so they'll let us through." For a moment, Leena hesitated in grabbing a worn-out cloak from the wall, as this meant going outside, and not forging magical items. She had to helpt this person though, one way or another. She took the cloak, fastening it in place so the wind wouldn't carry it away. "There are extras of these." she said kindly, still trying to be hospitable. "Take one if you want, it's chilly." It seemed the vendor's costume would have to wait, if she showed up at all. Then again, she'd promised Leon, hadn't she?
