do you keep your rank as an honor thing or is that it you are through. im asking cause you see all these JROTC commanders who are retired and still hold the ranks is that something for them only or is that for all vets.?

For JROTC it works a bit differently. They aer reservist trainers of a sort and you don't actually ever really lose what the military does to/for you. There's an NJROTC at the school I work at. I talk with the chief all the time and the commander there as well being a former sailor myself. They both had to become "teachers" with official certification for JROTC with the state I believe and the option to do this is not open to all retirees. I'll ask more later but that's what I know now.
FYI, a retired commander really can't order a Lt Commander in the line to do something, but there is a region of respect so ... rank does have it's priviledges.

you kinda on the right track but i meant just over all most organizationbs have the retires people who are still called by the rank they earned it got me thinking i have always just went with it but that came up when one of my cadets approached me.
