Danika had been wandering the unfamiliar campus of the Crystal Academy for the better part of an hour. The transfer papers would be completed soon and she would have to start classes within the week, but for today Danika simply scouted out the area. Her father had moved them fairly close to the school, but with his long work hours he decided to send her to the school's dorms to make sure she was cared for while he was out. Her dorm roomed only herself, to her relief, as she wasn't ready to socialize on any level.

Still, after an hour anyone might begin to feel impatient. She rubbed her brow with a glare, taking a breath and calming herself quietly. She wasn't so antisocial that she couldn't ask for directions, or so she told herself.

Turning to the first student to walk by, Danika kept her face a neutral mask, "Pardon, do you know if there is a greenhouse on campus?

User Image -Aurora stepped out of the teacher's office with a sigh. Task four of the day done, only about twelve more to go. Shuffling her books back into her sachel, along with the extra notes she started down the hall, trying to calculate just how much time she had before dance class started.

She'd been in the school for a couple weeks now, was beginning to get the hang of the area and the routine, so when suddenly her attention was grasped at, she paused, making a mental image in her head before she even turned to face the girl.-

"Green house...." -Her finger tapped her bottom lip thoughtfully, nodding suddenly after a moment.- "Ohhh, I imagine that's the glass building that smells of flowers!" -She'd not been there before, but Aurora recalled slowing just a little now and then as the sweet aroma of blossoms caught her attention on the way to class.

Motioning gently for the girl to follow, she began to walk and talk, expecting the other to follow. There was ALWAYS time to help someone out after all. It's what a good person did!- "I can take you there if you like. This place is awfully large. My name is Aurora."

Pleased to find that the girl was willing to aid her, Danika gave a polite nod, "Thank you, I'd appreciate it."

Padding at a polite distance beside Aurora, Danika found herself at a loss of words already. She herself was fine with the sound of silence, but when with strangers the girl felt obligated to give them conversation. Danika felt awkward, but Aurora was helping her out, afterall, "So.. you've not been to the greenhouse before? Would you have time to stop by and look inside?"

It was the only thing she could think of to say. Hearing someone call it a glass building that smelt of flowers led her to believe that they hadn't actually gone inside before. She wondered how long the other girl had attended this school for, but thought better of it not to pry into any personal information. Danika was curious as to the type of flowers growing there, and a little excited now that she was actually heading towards the right way.

"No problem!" -Aurora announced singsongly as she led though hallways, turning every so often.-

"I'm afraid I haven't, I tend to keep myself busy. But it wouldn't hurt to take a peek in. I should have time today." -Dance class wasn't for an hour after all, and really.. she could push straightening rugs and books in the common area or tidying her own desk for later today. Not one for silence herself, she continued on, fishing for conversation, oblivious to Danika's disinterest in it.- "Do you have a class there? Or do you just enjoy flowers?"

-As they moved through the building, Aurora pointed to a few rooms, putting out the tips she'd used herself the first week to make her mental map. Things like.. 'you can usually smell the home ec room from down the hallway' and 'the music and dance rooms can usually be identified by the sounds that leaked into the hall'. Landmark navigation, ah yes.-

"Oh, I enjoy gardening." She paused, "Wait, there are classes there?" Danika's interest perked, but she managed to curb it to not bombard the poor girl with overly detailed questions. She would look it up in the course book later.

"I'm going to be transferring in." Danika admitted, "So I'm not terribly familiar with the area."

She listened as Aurora listed off the notations, blinking curiously as the theme for choosing a landmark was rather consistent, "Seems like you use your senses a lot." Okay, odd way of phrasing it, she thought immediately after she had already said it, "Er, I mean, the whole sound and smell.. Compared to just sighting unique objects or some such.."

Danika let her sentence fall, her temper twitching as she became frustrated with her own words. She let her attention turn to the rooms they passed by, detailing what was inside them and what classes might be held within, wondering how different they might looks filled with lively students.

"I don't have any classes like that just yet, but I'd assume a school this prestigous had a horticulture class. Maybe even a flower arranging one as well? I'm not certain, but it wouldn't surprise me." -She offered with a knowing nod. That said, she really need to look into what classes she wanted next semester! Sure it was only the first week or so of class, but who knew how quickly the classes filled here.-

"I just came here as well. About two weeks ago. Wanted to get situated in before classes started."

-At the suggestion, Aurora simply smiled sheepishly.- "Perhaps. I've always been the sort to use my senses. I suppose I might have noticed them better though since those are classes I take or go by often, so they're easier to remember."

-Noticing the gleam of sunlight that marked the wide glass door to the outside, she picked up her step, motioning again.- "Ohhh we're almost there."

Danika had imagined that such a prestigious school would carry girls whom didn't want to get dirt under their nails (which is why Danika wore gloves when planting), so she had been surprised that there might be classes. She thought perhaps a club had existed or extra funds for the green house for looks, but classes? Not bad at all.

"Two weeks? So you're fairly new as well. Seems like you've adapted quite well." Danika was surprised to find another relatively new girl so soon, "Using your senses, I meant that it made you seem.. instinctive. Which is a good thing, like common sense.."

Kicking herself for her poor conversational skills again, Danika stared off into the distance, though instantly whipped her head back when Aurora announced their approach. She broke out into a slow run, the sun glittering brightly as she came to the doors of the greenhouse. Danika took a moment to inhale the aroma, a mix of flowers wafting in the breeze, "Do we need permission to enter?"

"Pretty well, I've always had a pretty good sense of direction though. Not to mention I've run up and down these halls more than a dozen times now."

-Aurora stepped aside, letting the other girl take the lead as they stepped outside the building. From outside the back of the building the greenhouse was easy to find, but today, it gleamed all the more in the sunlight. Matching the pace of the other with a soft laugh, she trotted along after her, pausing when she stopped.-

"Hmm.. I don't see anything telling us to keep out, so I think we're good." -Ahhh the eternal battle of being good and jumping in head first. Logic seemed on her side this time though, so jump she did. Nodding matter of factly, Aurora pressed the door open with her hand. If someone had to get in trouble, she'd take the fall. It wasn't really a good first impression to get someone scolded the first time they met. -

"I suppose the door would have been locked otherwise." Danika agreed, slipping through the door Aurora had opened. Though her face didn't read much, her eyes widened and her breath slowed, enjoying the rush of flowery scent. It was warm inside, with a myriad of plants on every surface possible. It looked more like a garden than the traditional green house, with many of the plants buried in the ground or decorative fixtures rather than rows of pots.

She walked down an aisle, taking a moment to lean forward and smell the lilies, orchids and roses. Another few steps and it was the bleeding hearts, tulips, dragon snaps. There were even a few exotic looking ones that she didn't recognize. Heck, there was even bamboo and a rock water feature. The only sound inside was the trickle of the water, yet it looked so full of life. Inside these glass walls it felt like another world, a comfortable haven that would remain neither good nor evil, growing steadily and changing only when she worked her hands with it to change, it would simply exist in self peace.

Danika abruptly realized that she had completely and utterly forgotten about her guide. Great manners, she scolded herself. "Oh, uh.." Distinctive loss of words again, followed by impulsive attempted conversation, "Er, do you like it? I know plants aren't for everyone, but perhaps there is something else you enjoy?"

-The scent was even stronger as the door swung open, and Aurora gazed around curiously at the building filled with plants. Colors, shapes, and sizes she'd only seen in books or elegant arrangements grew in well maintained 'wildness' here. They were beautiful, really really beautiful, and the scent was just as delicious as a freshly baking meal.

Taking a few steps in, she let her gaze follow the rows of flowers, admiring them until the other girl spoke, turning to find her having made her way further in.- "They're very lovely! Most of these I've only seen in vases, it's nice to see them growing freely instead of wilting slowly."

"It is a little warm in here. Humid." -She admitted, fanning herself with a hand symbolicly, but Aurora stepped in further nonetheless.- "I never done much gardening myself. But it could be fun."

"I like to dance though, and cook. And take bubble baths, but you have to do that last one yourself, so it's silly to even mention." -She laughed a little as she spoke, pausing to stare at a flower covered with tons of tiny petals.-

"I find baths waste too much time." Danika said curtly, though she had no intention of cruelty in her words. It only occured to her afterwards that it might have sounded insulting, "Er, dancing and cooking sound pleasant."

She reached a pale hand out, cupping a small bud on one of the plants, "Hm.. Alstroemeria I think. What sort of dancing have you done? If there was room I'd request to see a few moves. You look like you have the body of a dancer." Blunt, but at least not insulting this time.

Danika had only taken a few dance related classes, but never decided to pursue that route. She found all her dance moves on the battlefield, but she did appreciate how graceful the art of it was. Cooking was of course just a basic necessity for Danika, but sometimes those little chocolate decorations were just too darn cute to pass up in the stores.

-Her lips pursed momentarily at the dissagreement of ideas, but she said nothing about it as the girl went on. Aurora was NOT a time waster.. so being told one of her favorite things was a waster of time was.. irritating. But the other girl swept onto another topic quickly enough, no point in going back to argue about it. To each their own.

Drawing nearer to look curiously at the flower she was handling, she streched her arms above her, rocking back and forth from the front of her feet to the backs.- "I started with ballet when I was little, and I know most of the regular classical stuff.. Waltzes, Cha-cha, Foxtrot, Tango. But I've become particularly fond of the Latin styles lately.. They're so much faster and passionate. I do hope we learn some of them in the dance class I'm in, otherwise I might have to see if they have special classes."

"Of course most of the dances require a partner, kind of a funny thing in an all girls school. Noone ever wants to play the male part."

Feeling mildly impressed at the girl's wide forte of dance, Danika gave a small nod, "Sounds like you've been dancing all your life. Must be fun for you, I hope your dance class has what you want." She liked the female role of dance, but sometimes playing the male role of the dance was fun too, though there was no way she'd admit that so she left the subject untouched.

Silence.

Danika let out a shallow sigh, her lack of social skills putting her on edge. She gave up on trying to think of how to converse with the other girl, and it dawned on her that this is how it would be like for every student she met here. She didn't quite consider herself antisocial (deny it though she may try), but she thought there to be little point in socializing with others any further than the necessary communications. Too much seemed to be misunderstood, which she attributed to human nature. Best to avoid the drama from the start.

Feeling content with that reasoning, Danika turned her focus to the plants. No sign of disease, the soil was ever so slightly damp, they seemed well cared for. She'd certainly need to research who was in charge of the garden to see if she might wiggle her way in. Her dark eyes looked up and around the lines of plants, noting no visible automatic sprinkler system, thinking that they must be watered by hand.

It belatedly occured to her that she hadn't quite meant to drop off their conversation in the middle of it. She had intended a touch more dance chat followed by a polite goodbye to go their own ways, but it somehow had slipped her attention with all the greenery surrounding them. Danika turned almost sheepishly to peer at the other girl, "Ah.."

"Thanks" -She mused softly, taking the words as a compliment as she continued to rock back and forth.

And she waited politely for a few moments, trying to dig in her mind for something else to bring up. But found herself unable to dig much from what the girl had said before. So far.. plants had been about it. Most of her comments were wrapped up nice and neatly, finished just as quickly as they were started. Not that that was bad....

Nonetheless she waited a little longer, a minute, two, her fingers beginning to tap silently against her skirt, her weight shifting from one foot to the other. She glanced down at the place on her wrist in which a watch would have been, if she's worn one, before finally she took a step back, voice rising lightly.-

"Ummm... so anyway. Guess I better head off to class." -She'd be early, but whatever, being early wasn't really a bad trait. Aurora spun gracefully around before she noticed Danika's turning.- "So see you around I guess, nice to meet you."

"Oh, thank you again for helping me find my way." Danika gave a polite smile, feeling a mix of sadness at her failed socializing, and a hefty bit of relief to be left to her own devices.

She walked with Aurora to the door to keep up on her manners as if walking a house guest out, giving a grateful nod to the girl, "Do take care for your next class." Danika gave a wave, staying in the doorway to watch the other girl gracefully depart before turning back to the greenhouse.

Well, relatively speaking from her history, that didn't go over too poorly. It didn't occur to her til after she was alone that she hadn't even introduced her own name in return. With a groan Danika rubbed the temples of her head, shrugging it off and letting herself become absorbed in her surroundings.
