Name: Jarvi
Age: 12
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Trader
Rank: Candidate
History: Born to a large, travelling family of traders [two older brothers, one older sister, and three younger sisters], Jarvi has had to work hard to differentiate himself from his siblings, to show a different strength and encourage his parents to both bless and burden him with more responsiblity in their family craft.
By the age of six, he'd found his niche, subtly organizing his siblings into an astonishingly effective sales troupe, using their young faces and charming personalities to sway definitions of fashion and the purses of Holders wherever they travelled to. His parents, of course, were delighted. It's much nicer to birth and raise your own staff, as you rarely have to compensate them properly.
As of now, Jarvi's family has been at High Teglar Hold for only a few fortnights, though after the boy was searched, the family plans to stay for awhile. At least for the hatching, anyway.
Appearance: With golden skin, slanted, dark almond shaped eyes [framed by dark, heavy lashes, one might add], and equally dark, straight hair, it's clear that Jarvi isn't locally born. The boy, having not come close to hitting his growth spurt, is much smaller than his brothers [all older], around 5'2". His build is slight, and while Jarvi's developed some muscles, they're all under a layer of baby fat that slightly rounds his belly and his face. It is clear from his parents and siblings that in time his features will be sharp, strong and masculine, but for now the boy remains pretty and soft, showing the success of his family's business.
Without a doubt, the feature most find envy in is Jarvi's black hair. Shining and straight, it brushes his shoulder-blades when free, but it generally tied back in loose buns or braids. His sister's lament the fact that his hair is finer than their own, and Jarvi, despite his definite boyishness in personality, takes pride is caring not only for that physical asset, but for his appearance in general.
He likes to wear stylish clothing, both for the long looks it causes in females, as well as to show off his family's wares to Holders' families, and tends to also wear bright blues, golden yellows and deep reds, mixed with browns and whites.
Personality: Jarvi is oft told that he has an 'old soul', and if old means 'sly', then so be it. Most of his talents lie in cunning and persuasion, rather than brute force, the product of an upbringing in a family business that supports such intelligence and being the youngest brother of three. To get around their superior strength and skill, Jarvi uses his mouth.
This has resulted in several surprising qualities, one of which is his perchant to leadership. Jarvi is often one of the first to make a sales pitch, to decide whom he and his siblings should speak to in Weyr or Hold on their travels, and to get his way in many a situation. The boy always thinks to the future, and his place in it, and therefore puts what is good for all [and therefore himself] in the long run above what would be better for him in the immediate sense.
Far from shy, Jarvi enjoys meeting and speaking with new people, finding it both a pleasure and a boon to create new bridges and future allies. Always diplomatic, he tends to find himself with few enemies, possibly due to the fact that despite his sly motivations, he's a generally happy and friendly youngling.
Jarvi is free with his gifts to those that charm him, both gifts of his mind and company and those of a material sorts. He loves to trade, and will often make what one would consider a bad material trade [something of his for something of another's of lesser value], to make a good social tie.
The boy knows what he wants, and that is to be the best, secure in a position of power, and he knows there is only one way to get that; a combination of hard work and luck.
