It was dark down in the ocean amongst the reefs but a small purple light helped the toddler as she wiggled her way around the structures of coral and masses of sea weed. Giggling bubbles Natalya reached after a small neon fish and pouted when it escaped her fingers. 'Aww!'
Her tummy rumbled as she watched it get away and Tally figured that she had been down here for too long. Closing her eyes for a second the toddler clutched the bag of shells and with a kick started forcing herself up out of the water. Her tail propelled her and allowed her to quickly turn but that didn't help her to escape the seaweed and kelp that stuck to her hair.
Natalya didn't mind the stuff though and floated easily on the surface of the water. The shore was really close now and she could make out forms of people who happened to be out this early in the morning. Still with a shudder against the morning breeze she dipped back under and just stuck her head out as she bobbed up and down with the waves.

Ever since Dane introduced Pepper to the beach he had tried to come often, if only to get use to it so Dane would laugh at him the next time they went. The sand was annoying, the people doubly annoying but most kept their distance given how strange he appeared.
Sitting on a rock a few feet from shore, he was still dry as he hadn't wanted to swim so he had jumped for it. With his long legs he had made it though one foot had managed to slip in and dip into the icy waters. He...didn't like it. Not one bit. SO he perched on his rock his claws basically scratching up rock. Long white scratch marks marred the once wave smoothed rock.
Moving and shifting he peered into the waters watching the small critters move about and the seaweed dance back and forth he flinched as a wave crashed against his rock...ug the salt water made his skin itch...

Bobbing up and down with the waves proved to be a tiresome thing for the toddler who had just come back from a wearisome trip. Tally's arms and legs felt heavier then usual, but she refused to go back underwater. It was about then that she spotted some rocks close by.
With a happy grin the toddler kicked out and started skimming through the water towards a big rock. She could lay there for a couple of minutes! This way she could dry out some too! Though she didn't really think much about the fact that there was still water to go through whenever she did feel up to finishing her return shore.
She also didn't notice the huge waves rising behind her. With a small shriek of surprise and excitement, Tally was lifted by the water. "Whee!" Arms stretched out and grabbed at something that felt like legs as the wave crashed against a rock.

Pepper watched there was a child bobbing in the water, with narrowed eyes he watched as that child swam in his direction with wide eyes he watched as that child was picked up and carried by a wave and then crashed into him. On instinct he lowered his body to make the least resistance and clung to the rock with his hand and feet. He felt much like a drowned cat after the wave swept past his hair plastered to his head and he felt something....clinging to his leg.
Peering down he shifted his weight slightly and spotted the little child that had been riding the wave and now was attached to him.
"I'm not a life preserver you know..." He commented as he reached down to try and help the kid up and onto the now rather crowded rock. He was super careful with his claws not to cut her...that's all he'd need...a crying toddler.

Tally's eyes widened with surprise as the rock started talking to her. Instant reactions nearly made her drop from the spot and back into the waters, but she reattached herself instead as another wave crashed against the rock. Now the rock had taken her to the top and the toddler finally opened her eyes to look around.
"Mr. rock?" She asked fighting the hair and seaweed that covered her eyes. Finally she could see and Tally giggled at the sight. "Oh, you no mister rock afta all! Thanks!" The torn remnants of butterfly wings fluttered weakly behind her trying to shake off some water.
Tally looked up at Pepper and tilted her head, "You looks differet! Buh that's cool!" She giggled again and her antenna shone a faint light, "I diffy too! And wet!"

IT was the first time anyone had referred to him as Mr. Rock. He thought it kinda a humorous pun since his skin was rock like. Pepper gave the small girl a curious look over. She was very different from kids he had seen before. She had to be from the facility that much was obvious. Reaching out he poked at her rather ragged wings before poking at her tail. It was a neat tail. Not thin but thick and muscular.
"Welcome I suppose, names Pepper though not Mr. Rock." He stated as he looked her over "You? What's your name Freckles?"

Tally shivered at the poke to her wings and her antenna flickered lazily. It was rare when someone touched her wings and the toddler was slightly surprise by the random poke. "Ah!" A wave had hit the rock and Tally acted as if the wave had startled her instead. "Frewkles?" Tally pouted before giggling, "Iz Tally!"
Crystal eyes blinked with curiosity as Tally pointed to Pepper, "If you Pepper then where Salt?" Watching him Tally's head tilted to the side as she waited for his answer.

Pepper looked at her a long moment, it took him a moment to realize it was a pun, not a very funny one but...ironically the first time anyone had asked him that question.
"Sal..t?" He echoed the word as he then reached forward and drew the girl closer to him since the waves seemed to be startling her. He sat down on the rock letting his legs dangle into the water.
"Sorry there is no salt, just me Freckles." He stated with a nod of his head and then offered to let her sit in his lap.

Tally's tail twitched quietly as she looked at him. A small pout had formed at the name Freckles and the toddler shook her head. "Aww... Not frewkles!" She didn't dare shout though and the words came out more as a murmur.
Eyes narrowing Tally tried to sit on Pepper's lap but ended up slipping to the side where she huddled against him. "I'z Tally not Frewkles, Mista Rock." Her legs stuck out like Pepper's but the toddler was far to short to reach the water.
Tally was prepared to sit patiently on the rock listening to the waves until her stomach made some funny noises. "Oh!" Flushing Tally giggled, "My tummy's hungrey again."

Pepper grinned a bit at her pouting, he couldn't help but tease, instead of speaking though he batted at the weird dangling thing that was coming from her forhead.
"But I think the nickname is cute. If you call me Rocky I will call you Freckles. I am no Mr thought. Just Rocky." He explained as she then stated she was hungry. She was small as he observed her perhaps he could scournge something up from the icecream stand that was on the beach.
"I can get your some icecream...you want that?" He inquired as he batted the purply bulby thing again.

"Bu-But!" Tally sighed and shook her head in defeat, "Fine, Mista-" She paused, "I means Rocky." Her antenna flashed sheepishly at the touch before the words dawned on Tally.
"Ice cream?!" Her eyes widened in excitement. Ice cream was the best! All delicious and cold at the same time. She wondered what types of ice cream he would get her. ChocoStrawberry was her favorite.
"Yeah! Yeah!" Gigging the toddler pushed herself up to stand wobbly on the rock. "Let's go!" Her feet slipped as a wave brushed against her taking what was left of her balance. "Eee!"
Tally let out a mix of laughter and surprise in a shout as she toppled backwards towards the ocean water.

He watched a a smirk on his face as the girl toppeled back into the ocean, strange on she was...
"Hey Freckles...you okay?" He inquired as he scooted over to where she hand landed his eyes scanning the waves to see where she surfaced. He of course didn't realize that due to her DNA she was quite comfertable in the water.
"Freckles?"

Tally floated just beneath the surface of the water. She was tempted to go straight back up to Pepper but something shiny distracted her. There just buried in the sand was a sparkling shell. The toddler was torn.
Surely the waves were too harsh for her to go back up right now...Nodding Tally kicked off towards the sandy ocean bottom. There she started to collect the shells until she finally pulled out the sparkly one. She could give him this shell as a thank you for the ice cream when they got it!
Happy, the toddler started back towards the surface to where 'Mr. Rocky' was.

Never before had Pepper suffered a panic attack...or course he normally didn't worry for any length of time but he fidgeted on the rock...his worry mounting as the girl didn't surface. He...HATED the water....more so the drying after and getting the salt all crusting on his rocky skin. But what if she was hurt?
With a defeated sigh he jumped in, finding it deeper than he originally thought and ended up dunking his head under. He thrashed and ended up latching onto the rock again in a panic. His...shoulder bones made him top heavy...and that worried him quite a bit.
But now that he was already wet, he tried to scan the water again to find her.
"Freakles??"

Tally had nearly called out right before Pepper had jumped in, causing her to dunk back under in surprise. Another wave came and the toddler had to keep swimming under the water. But was Rocky okay? Why did he jump in? She didn't understand, was he trying to follow her?
Or...or! Tally gasped and nearly choked. Did Pepper think that she was eated by the waves? Sabra always warned her about that happening! Oooh! Frantically the toddler started swimming towards the rock.
Was he okay? She hoped that he wasn't eated by the waters! Her hands reached out and grabbed at familiar legs, "Rocky! Iz here!" She called out before going under because of another small wave.
