What kind of rock bands do you like? Cause if you like the pop/punk/rock scene with a twist, I'd go check out Making April and Something Corperate. They do a lot of orchestral rock and piano rock, too. Oasis is a little more well known, but always good for a listen, even though their lead guitarist just quit the band a few weeks ago. Um...hm...there's also A Change of Pace (they're more on the punk side) and We The Kings (pop rock) and Hit the Lights (think Boys Like Girls...sort of). Hope you find something good in this list!

I highly doubt anyone really knows this group, but it's called Infected Mushroom. The genre of their music is listed as trance/techno, but they actually have a wide variety of songs with different styles. I recommend their album called Vicious Delicious. Some of their most popular songs on that album are Heavyweight (which is instrumental) and Becoming Insane.

Personally, my favorite band is Tokio Hotel. They are listed as emo-pop mostly due to the singer's style of dress and are actually closer to alternative rock. They too have variety in their music. For those that know them (I say this because they are from Germany), opinions of this group are usually one of the two major extremes: either being madly in love with them to the point of complete obsession or hating them with passionate spite or disdain. I know very few people that just say "they're okay." Though they aren't exactly mainstream artists, they are very well-known throughout Europe and have a very large fan base. They actually have not only songs in German, but in English as well.

I don't really know if these helped, but if you're interested in more groups, I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

I'm really digging The Scare right now. They're a band from Aus.

i also love Jack's Mannequin, although that's more piano rock.
