FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, I BUILT A SUKKAH!!!

Well, it's not so much a sukkah as it is a lot of dirty wood I stole from the garage haphazardly propped up against the rubbish can with a chair in the middle and no roof besides several inches of plastic grid of symbolism.
But I did at least eat in it. And with a kippah on, too! But I will not sleep in it.

My dad was surprised when he came home from work and saw me sitting in it, eating cereal.. But he surprised me by identifying it as a Sukkah. And he was totally cool with it. It even upset him a little whne I told him I was afraid he'd be mad... ya know, about stealing the wood and sitting in that dangerous structure.

WoW, I just fasted for the first time, JUST built a Sukkah for the first time.. You all must think I'm a 13-year-old who just had his Bar-Mitzvah. No, No, I'm years upon years upon years late to the game...

How is Sukkot for everyone?

I'm working all weekend.

Lets face it Sukkot doesn't have the Gravitas as Yom Kippor, Chanukah or Passover.

Hopefully everyone will have a better Schimhas Torah.

But Sukkot is 7 days and Schimchat Torah is only one!!
I kid, I kid; I know you're right.

I love Sukkot! Unfortunately, this year it's drizzling constantly, as well as very cold. We made kiddush in our friends' sukkah (we have no yard, ourselves, so can't put up our own), then ran inside to eat in the dry indoors. Not as much fun, by far, but at least we didn't all come down with colds.

Sorry but I have to interject a second.

Succos is one of the Sholosh Regalim (sorry if the sp is off) That makes it one of the three most important jewish holidays (pesach, shvous, succos) Arguably Yom kippur is more important but chanukah is only popular via its timing in relation to X-mas and its association to presents. As I'm sure many of you will point out chanukah is a more recent yom tov then succos.

Oh and I'm having an enjoyable succos driving to my parents everytime I want to eat real food. meanwhile my home and school are 1/2 hour away.

Seriously though, I'm enjoying it.

It's such a shame our most important holidays don't coincide with those involving presents! DRAT!

I didn't build a Sukkah but I was out in the rain doing SAT Prep in my SAT Prep Teacher's Sukkah.

I hope you get a good score then! That's hardly worth it... smile
