AIM LOG: Reeshie Hack & _ p a o cx
Tarik drooped his head over his own paws, eyes getting heavy due to lack of sleep the night before. As of late he'd been wandering around a lot more at night to avoid the heat brought on by the sun, but he still wasn't used to sleeping in the daytime. As such, he sometimes went on without sleep for days at a time, the longest being 3 days. He wasn't in much of a giving mood, and should one happen upon him in this state they would probably get the butt end of his not-so-happy side. His mood lately has been rather unpredictable, though he's been trying to keep it in check. He found he rather liked not having to deal with irritating mortals, and to keep them from getting irritated all he had to do was abandon his old way of seeing them.
Which wasn't very easy, mind you, but he was doing better now. With a sigh the male rolled onto his side, willing sleep to come. Begging even, if he hadn't been too tired to get on his knees to do it.
"S'ep... S'ep... S'ep... Hop-hop... S'ep... " Lamis had an adorable voice. Pitched in the higher tone of a female child and with all the softness and wonder that comes with it, she smiled and said the words as she walked along. She was just old enough to wander about, but never out of crying distance of her mama and papa. Her papa couldn't see, of course, but both could hear fine.
"S'ep... S'ep- Oh! Hi!" The young hybrid had just looked up from the ground to see a big lion some ways away. Mama was a lion, but this lion was a little bigger than Mama. Which was strange because Mama was biiiig. She stared at the lion with her dark silver, blinking curiously.
Tarik's eyes followed the voice to it source, not really surprised that it belonged to a cub. A cub that...he'd never seen before, and not in a personal sense. No, he'd never met her before, but he'd never met anyone like her before either. Curiosity being the diety's vice, he sat up and tilted his head, observing the little thing with squinted eyes. No doubt he probably looked pretty creepy, but after a minute or two of looking he shook it off and offered her a smile.
"Hi," he greeted, trying to sound friendly despite his exhaustion. "I'm Tarik, what's your name?"
Lamis sat down some paces from the big lion and kept blinking.
"Ta-rik... My name's Lami! Yer bigger'n my mama. How come?" It was a silly question, but not to Hana's daughter. Tarik might not know the daughter but he'd certainly met the mother. But, unlike some instances where cubs could be linked to their parents through coloring or marks, Lami and her near-twin brother had none of that. They looked more like their cheetah father.
Tarik smirked, clearly amused by this cub's way of talking. It was cute to say the least. Regarding her question he put on a thoughtful expression, not quite sure how he'd answer. It wasn't that he would mind admitting that he was a god, but having admitted such a thing to another curious little cub had brought on a few questions that he wasn't sure how to answer either. The last thing he'd ever want was to be put in another situation like that one. Clearing his throat, he finally came up with something. "I was just born big, that's all." Hopefully that was enough for the little girl.
"Me too!" Lamis exclaimed, her face lighting up. Of course, she wasn't too much bigger than her brother, and even though her mother said they were big cubs, they were still smaller than lions their age would be, but that wouldn't stop the little female from getting excited. She wanted to be big like her mama when she grew up. If this lion was born big and she was born big, well that certainly meant that she would be as big as he was when she grew up!
Lami-logic, for you.
"Whatcha doin' all by yerself, huh?" she asked, her mind switching gears in an instant, her expression sobering back into the soft curiosity. She even tilted her head to one side.
Tarik chuckled at the cub's excitement, happy to see that his reply had indeed been enough to answer her question. "I was just resting," he answered her next question, fighting down the rising irritation from being as tired as he was. Usually he would've shoo'd anyone coming by, but because of his own curiosity he chose to pay attention to this passing cub. "I don't usually have anyone with me though, even if I'm completely wide awake." His tail swayed to and fro behind him and he continued to observe the little cub, though now he looked much less creepy. "What about you? Why are you out here all alone?" he asked, lifting his gaze to have a look around. He really didn't feel like dealing with parents either, especially if they were the overprotective kind.
"Mama's out hunting an' Papa's not far. He can't see, but if I call he an' my brother'll come an' get me," she replied with a small nod. She frowned a bit at his answer. He was usually alone? That didn't make since. Everyone had their family with them, right? Oh! Maybe he didn't have a family! That wasn't good. Everybody needed a family.
"It it 'cause you don't got a family? If you don't you can come be my big brother! I don't have one of those."
He didn't like being pitied, no matter how innocent the one it came from was. Still, he didn't want to be mean about it, else she run off crying or something of the sort. Besides, she probably didn't know any better either. "Oh, I have family," he said. That was true too, since he had a mother and father. "I just don't live with them anymore." There was a silence that fell between them, and after a minute or so of no talking the god cleared his throat. "Right, so your parents are okay with you wandering around on your own? Why aren't you with your brother?" He really wasn't the greatest conversationalist, so changing the subject was enough of a task all by itself.
Lamis immediately looked sheepish. Why wasn't she with her brother, indeed.
"Well... I kinda went away, an' I didn't tell anybody where I was going an' snuck away so he wouldn't come following me, 'cause I look like him an' think like him, but it doesn't mean I always wanna play with him," she stopped there, pout a bit. Sure, she loved her brother and was glad to have him. But sometimes she didn't wanna play with him.
Tarik smiled at the cub, nodding to show that he understood what she was saying. "I see," he replied, "Well that makes sense." And another sort of silence, though it wasn't as bad as earlier. He cleared his throat again, this time really searching for another subject. "So I heard you saying something when you were heading over. Were you playing a game?" he asked, thinking back to when he first heard her voice. He hoped it'd cheer her up, even just a little. She was a lot cuter happy than she was pouty.
Lamis shrugged.
"Guess so. I donno. Sometimes it's quiet an' I don't like it so much," the cub explained and pawed at the grass in front of her in a distracted way. She glanced back the way she came, ears perked up, listening.
"I should go home soon, 'fore my papa gets worried or Mama comes back. Mama doesn't like it when Chi'bo or me go running off." She didn't make a move to leave, of course. Just said the statement at let it hang there.
Guess he really wasn't the greatest company, though he wasn't surprised that the cub wanted to go home. Most did after a while of being on their own. He hadn't been a very homesick cub when he was her age. Strange though, in all his curiosity about what sot of cub she was he never thought to really ask. It may have been a sensitive question, and whatever conscious he had kept him from asking and sounding kind of rude. Shaking the idea of actually asking from his mind, he nodded at her statement and did indeed agree.
"Right, they might start to worry. If you wanna go then go ahead, it's okay," he said with a smile. "I don't really mind. I need to get some rest too, actually, so don't worry about me." Not that he knew whether she was concerned about his feelings or not. "Just be careful on your way back, yeah?"
Lamis stood up then and padded over to him.
"My mama said you were good. Mama's always right," she patted his big paw with her tiny one, grinning up at him before stepping back again. Would he question her? Probably. Would she explain? Maybe. She hadn't decided yet on whether she wanted to be good or naughty.
Her mama knew him? He looked at her somewhat confused, desperate now to know who her mother was. However! Something kept him from asking, and heaving a sigh he let the subject slip as he lay back down and rested his chin atop his paw. "You think so highly of your mother," he said with a small smile. "You ought to listen to her more often, no?" His smile widened as he looked closely at this little one one more time. "Run home now, alright. Try not to get in trouble." With that he lifted his head and scooted her gently along with his large paw. "And be careful." With that the god lowered his head down to his paws once more, closing his eyes and waiting for sleep to come. Luckily, he didn't have to wait long.
She DID want to do what her mama said, but sometimes it was hard 'cause she hadn't gotten hurt when she did things her mama told her not to do. Someday she might learn that lesson. Or just learn to listen more. Either way, she was still young and curious of the world around her.
"Okay! Come play with me and Chi'bo sometime!" Lamis giggled before running back towards home to look for her twin and a good cuddle-nap for herself.
