I know it might be fun to think that *something* might have happened behind the scenes.
But I really don't think so. :]
It's not that hard to come up with something as... out there as the Katamari games. I've done it plenty of times before with my friends. Without the use of any drugs, mind you.

i dunno...those could be any kind of mushroom....maybe even portabella.
*drools* mmmmmm portabella mushroom....
although the purple spandexiness of the king does suggest otherwise.

I think it went like this.
Meeting director,"Alright guys, we need to make a concept for a new game, that will be a brilliant cult hit in multiple countries."
Assisant, "Here, I'm going to one of these out to all of you. In front of you there should be a liter, please pick it up, light, and smell."
And then the next day
then one of their assissant game designers
is looking at the notes
and he's like
sweatdrop
But it was his first job at namco
so he didn't say anything.
And
