Name: Camryn Age: 19 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Craft: Smithcraft; Engineering Rank: Journeyman/Candidate; High Reaches Weyr
History: Raised only by their mother, Camryn's closest companion as a child was her sister, Cannan, three turns her senior. The two have different fathers, generally believed to be a dragonrider and a trader, but that is unapparent in their looks. The younger of the two, it was less important for Camryn to pursue her mother's career in beastcraft and when she showed an aptitude in mathematics and above average intelligence at about twelve turns, she was sought out for an apprenticeship in Smithcraft, specifically to become an Engineer. She, as well, was searched with her sister, at the age of fifteen, but followed her sibling's counseling and continued to pursue her craft.
The young girl wasn't a fan of much hard labor, especially general smithcraft apprentice work, and made an odd sort of friendship with a very ugly boy named Rafferty, who helped her in return for unknown reasons. Perhaps just her good nature, lack of concern about his physical appearance, or maybe he had a crush on the small girl. Cam doesn't know and in all likelihood doesn't care, either way, the two remain friends.
Unlike with many apprentices, it was immediately clear where Camryn's talents lay, and after learning the basics of smithing, she was allowed to focus on her studies in engineering. Due to this, she can't fix anything herself, but she can sure give you some creative ideas on how to go about it. Newly made a journeyman during her sister's short term as a Candidate, Camry also found herself under sudden pressure from her mother to make a bid to Stand.
Agreeing, partially because she'd be able to do engineering work while at the Weyr, Camryn also found the idea of going through the process of Candidacy intriguing, and has come to High Reaches with the intention of standing at the current clutch. After that, she plans to continue journeyman Engineering work at the Weyr, whether she impresses or not.
Appearance: Cam's face carries all the marker's of her family, delicate bone structure, pale green eyes, and the appropriate coloring, however her full mouth is wider than her older sister's, her black hair cut short to frame her more pixieish face and a bit wild, from both general lack of attention and the touch of her distracted hands. Her pale skin is a bit ruddier than Cannan's with sparse, light freckling on her regularly exposed skin, if only due to their differing amounts of sun exposure. Both her mannerisms and fast-paced speech and gesticulations lend her a sort of frenzied, eccentric energy that makes most say she's the prettier of the two, along with her frequent smiles.
Not nearly as muscular or strong as Cannan, the 5'3" Cam is also not as curvy. The brunette is naturally slender, which causes her to look much lankier than a short person usually would, and is somewhat fit from general Smithcrafting work as well as Candidate chores. However, she doesn't go out of her way to build strength and isn't winning any arm-wrestling competitions, other than among some of the smaller girls in the Weyr. Not focusing very much on the physical, Camryn will oft forget to eat without reminder, and along with that picks her clothing at whimsy, [She insists that bright clothing helps her think, but that the color orange slows her recall of mathematical formulas], but it's generally cut well and appropriate for the weather, if only because that is the wardrobe made available to her by her mother and sister.
Personality: Incredibly cerebral, Camryn often has trouble in social situations, with those that don't understand her drive or odd ways of communicating. The girl lacks pretention and malice, but she [like the older sister that was her companion as a child] tends to see distinctions and inconsistencies instantaneously, and has a knack for noticing contradictions. She has a hard time listening to things she considers nonsense, even in a casual situation, without pointing out the error of the speaker. When she's interested enough to involve herself in a discussion or debate, her skill for framing arguments and her views provides her with an unexpected advantage, to look at the waif. She views any sort of discussion as a quest for knowledge and understanding, and therefore attempts to eliminate any form of inconsistencies present, which can make conversations with her uncomfortable. That being said, it is very hard to make Camryn, herself, uncomfortable, and she's hard to offend.
Pragmatic when it comes to ideas, and insatiably curious, Cam always wants to find more efficient methods of doing things, and will learn in any way she can. This includes things that involve her craft and those that do not [though she thinks everything on the planet effects Engineering and pokes her good-natured nose into anything she can] and she will listen to anyone whose ideas are of use to her, and disregard any ideas that are not, no matter the source. Most authority and rank does not impress her on a general scale, and she is instead only concerned with what makes sense; consistency and coherency are the only things that linger in her mind when it comes to others.
Often Camryn can come across as shy, when in truth she is simply preoccupied and reserved with those that are not family, close friends, or colleagues. In almost any situation, when she catches an idea or theory to chase, she is able to concentrate entirely and often prefers to work quietly in her quarters. She can become obsessed with analyzing a problem and sometimes that can shut out those around her until she can comprehend the issue completely. She is extremely intelligent and prizes that in others, and with her desire to understand the entirety of the world, she can sometimes come off as arrogant or impatient, as well as flamboyant with her eager questions and then ready dismissal of ideas with a wave of her hands.

One note about her standing:
Luci keeps careful tabs on who is Searched, who refuses and who comes to the Weyr (or becomes a candidate if they were already in the Weyr). She's a very "involved" Weyrwoman. If Camryn refused, then later accepted, this would very much rub her the wrong way and she would be against Camryn standing under the accusation she lacks enough dedication for a dragon.
However, D'astel would convince her to allow it (though hesitantly and bitterly so) under the pretense that they need as many living bodies as they can get on the sands to up the dragonets chances of surviving (aka finding someone to Impress).
D'astel would have called her to see him and told her this, and Luci wouldn't be quiet about her keeping an eye on Camryn as long as she remains a candidate (and after she Impresses should she do so).
Just some things to keep in mind for the character. She's fine, though. Approved. <3

Thanks, Noya! Camryn's the type to throw herself into anything she decides to do, so I'm sure [with D'astel's warning and all] she wouldn't be showing any reason to not consider her now dedicated.
