you were a little kid? Say, under the age of 13. Were there any special games you played? How did you spend your free time? I'm doing a project for my University and I need to get some examples of games that kids would play from different countries. It doesn't matter which countries. I figured I would ask here, since I know that we are from all parts of the world. Any help you can give me will be muchly greatly appreciated.

Gads, when I was under 13 I played Dungeons & Dragons. Let's see...Chinese Jumprope was also a big one. Also, we played Castle Tag. And since I was an 80s baby, Pac-Man, Frogger, Space Invaders were big on my list.
Mom and I used to play Canasta and Rummy all the time too. Aside from that, I drew like mad, and bicycled constantly.
Hope this helps...

We used to play four square. I was really into it! For board games, we played Life and Chutes and Ladders.

FastFresnel We used to play four square. I was really into it! For board games, we played Life and Chutes and Ladders. Ooh those are all great games! For my project though, I'm looking for games like Four Square, soccer, and variations on tag. Are there any games that are sort of like national pastimes for kids to play (like in America there is little league baseball and stuff like that)?

When I was younger, (age like 5 - 11), I just read mostly... ... But, I did play a few board games like Frustation and Connect 4, (I rocked that games house down at Guineys, oh yeah!), I also played tons of water type sports as well chasing games like, Tip the Can or 21... ...

Lordy, what didn't I play?
Basketball, baseball, skateboarding, four square, swimming, handball, racquetball, tennis...
There's also "maul-ball" (no offense meant by this next term, but some of you might know this as "smear the queer") - basically, someone yells "Maul ball!" (or the latter name) and throws the ball; whoever catches it gets pwned and usually ends up at the bottom of a tackle pile - I think you can tell where the name comes from.
I know some of these aren't "playground" type games, but they were widely played by the kids at my school.
Y'know, for being a nerd, I was a pretty active kid!

In the U.S., there is a kid league for every kind of game ... baseball, basketball, football, soccer, etc., and a lot of it is quite structured and elaborate in its hierarchy.
