Biography/History:
When Taro was alive, he was an African American transfer student from America to learn more about his Japanese heritage sine his African heritage descended from ancient shamans. He moved there with his older brother Denkkai who took up a job in a local fish store to pay for their stay and he supported Taro all the way. Three days after arriving in Tokyo though, there was an accident in the fish shop where his brother worked and the building collapsed on itself with no survivors, his brother was one of the people killed and he grieved over it for months while still attending his classes. It dawned on him that that's not what his brother would want since he was always supporting him and telling him to 'turn his frowns up side and down' which was a lame saying but it always made him smile. He continued his classes after that making friends and living a good life while his parents sent him money so he could get by. While in Tokyo walking back from school to his house, there was a tremor that shook three neighborhoods where he was that was caused by a hollow and a car lost control but he evaded it jumping on top of it though it didn't matter cause half of the building behind him collapsed crushing him under almost a ton of stone. He died later that day in the emergency room from loss of blood and the local shinigami found him standing on the roof top looking up at the moon. Strangely enough, he knew that he was dead but showed no worry about it even when the shinigami sent him over to the Soul Society. He lived in the slums of the town for years leading a lonely yet pleasant life getting by on what he could and the kindness of others. Later he met the same shinigami that sent him over in the streets and was finally really happy that he met a familiar face. After some small talk he found out that the shinigami was now in the 13 Court Guard Squads and was on assignment looking for a renege hollow that snuck into town. Taro gladly helped him out whether he wanted it or not and searched all around town for this strange hollow.
They met back near an abandoned building not seeing anything strange and both figured that the hollow was somewhere else so the shinigami left and right when Taro was about to head home, the hollow that he was looking for snuck up and puled him into the building covering his mouth and grinning. It kept talking about how hungry it was for a soul and his seamed especially tasty and Taro thought this was it. He struggled around punching and kicking it as hard as he could but it was too fat, it just absorbed his hits. It opened its mouth and chomped down on Taro's head but he opened his eyes and the shinigami was in his place as he drove his sword through the hollows head but the hollow took a chunk out of his side making him bleed violently. Taro wanted to go get help but he said it was no use, the blood was coming out too quick and he would be dead in minutes. He then smiled at Taro and said "Hey. Turn that frown up side and down Taro." Suddenly his memories came rushing back and he realized that the shinigami he had been helping all this time was his older brother Denkkai. Denkkai told him that he shouldn't morn his death again. That he saw Taro after he died in the shop and he doesn't want that to happen again. He was now fading in and out of cautiousness and grabbed his arm unwrapping an old hand wrap and handing it to Taro. He smiled and told him he became a shinigami to protect him but he failed and if he had another chance he would never let him down cause he loved Taro. He then passed in a pool of blood at night in an abandoned house with Taro crying but with a smile still on his face. Days later, Taro applied to the shinigami academy and this is where his story begins.
