After five hellacious days of filing, stamping and staring at miserable little snot-nosed brats, Ursula was once again set free into the glorious world of Saturday.

She'd been up for hours already, showering, curling hair, and the ever tedious makeup applying. Outfit picking had been easier than usual, today's focus being a theme of beautiful blue. A pretty sundress, ankle-tie sandals and a hairpiece quickly found their way onto her, and she gingerly lifted up an abnormally large purse to complete the set. There was just one more thing she needed, and then she'd be ready to go.

"Greeeeeeendelpooooo," She cooed in a singsong voice, removing a soft blue ribbon from atop her dresser as she made her way into the living room. "Where aaaaare youuuuu?"

Funny thing about cat instincts; they always let him know when something suspicious was about to happen. The deceptively sweet croon floated to where he was currently sprawled out on the back of the couch, forcing an ear to twitch and a slitted eye to crack open. The cat grumbled to himself even as he stretched, but he had no intention of getting up to go find his temperamental charge. Still, to ignore her completely would result in something ugly, he knew that much for a fact.

"If I had to guess, I'd say anywhere that you weren't." He drawled before shutting his eyes firmly again. Really, if she wanted him for something, he already had no interest in doing it. It would likely result in discomfort on his part, and giving Ursula a second chance to redeem herself wasn't on top of his list of things he needed to do.

In fact, it was a very long list, and she was somewhere near the bottom of it.

"What do you want?" The cat eventually growled as he rolled onto his back, paws partially in the air as he made himself comfortable.

Her expression failed to waver, her thoughts too involved in her own agenda and priorities to pay any mind towards the cat's typical smartass attitude.

"I want to go shopping, and you are needed, in case I find anything that's actually worth owning. You know the drill, come on now, you lazy b*****d."

The ribbon dangled from her hand, partially wrapped around her fingers. Ursula didn't move, however, but instead remained where she was, expecting her peon to make the effort to move towards her and not the other way around. She gave it a few more seconds, half listening to the commercial playing on the nearby television, and yet the cat still remained where he was.

Tapping her foot, she let out a sigh.

"Come ooooooooon."

An eye cracked open again as though to check and see if the girl was really serious. Looked like it. And yet, typical Ursula, she wasn't going to extend the energy into really making sure he got to his feet--which was good, because he was going to bother. With a wide yawn (that perhaps deliberately bared his small but sharp fangs), Grendel idly twisted his head so he could better keep her in his sights.

"So you expect me to get up and help you shop for things you don't need, with no apparent benefit on my behalf. No dice." He flicked his tail absently and, with a dismissive sort of snort, shut his eye again.

"Who do you have to impress anymore, anyway, besides underage tots?"

Her brows furrowed and the corners of her mouth began to slide downwards as she continued to watch the cat lounge about. Honestly, it wasn't as if the cat ever did anything, so why would it need to sleep all the friggin' time?

"Yes, I do." she answered crisply, raising one arm to meet the other and cross over her chest. "And you will help me get what I want, because if it wasn't for me, you'd be living in a garbage can, being chased around by mangy dogs. Would you rather have dinner, Grendel, or would you prefer to be dinner?"

She glanced up at the clock. 9:30. The stores were due to open in half an hour, and if she wanted first pickings, they'd need to leave soon.

Letting out another exasperated sigh, she shot a second glare in the cat's direction. "Look, I'm going downtown today. I'll need your help with the distractions; it's not like it's anything you've never done before! So just come on, cooperate with me for once, you stupid cat!"

"Dinner, you said?" The Guardian casually overlooked those other degrading comments at the mention of food. Oh, he was enjoying this just a little--when else could he get Ursula to squirm like this? She needed him for these 'shopping' trips of hers, unless she actually wanted to cough up the money to pay for her purchases.

"Don't they pay you at this job of yours? Surely you can stop being just a petty thief, now..." He was smirking, eyes half-lidded as he gazed at her from across the room. Still, Grendel recognized the opportunity to be had in this, and he pushed himself up to a sitting position with another yawn.

To drag this out, or to end it quickly... His claws flexed as though debating; Ursula was the unwilling mouse in this little game, though after a moment, he seemed to make up his mind. "Very well. You buy me something good to eat, and I'll help you degrade yourself even further. Do we have a deal?"

Her eyes rolled at his questioning as pale fingers strummed against her arm impatiently. She did not have time for this!

"What's the point of paying, when it can be obtained for free?"

She'd been over this with him before but it was apparently a subject he enjoyed revisiting frequently. In the beginning, he'd been hesitant in becoming a cohort in crime, but like the good little kitty he'd been persuaded to be, he had finally given in and assisted her in her Saturday shopping pleasures. Of course Ursula got paid at her job, but why waste money when it could be spent on more useful things, like ordering the newest shinies from the Home Shopping Network?

Part of her wanted to resist his deal, to tell him that he would be forced to help whether he wanted to or not, but as time continued to swiftly pass by, Ursula knew it was an appropriate time to compromise.

"Fine," she huffed, moving her arms down as she took two steps forward towards the couch, "Food, whatever. AFTER shopping, though!"

Sliding the blue ribbon around the feline's collar, she quickly fashioned a simple bow on the cat, before he could have time to protest. There, now they could match.

Giving herself a nod of approval, the woman lifted open her handbag and motioned towards the cat. "Be thinking about what you want to eat, and don't you dare expect me to pay a fortune for it."

And now, he waited. Clearly Nea was pondering this over, and he wondered with open amusement if she would sacrifice one of the things she loved most merely to spite him. Oh, he'd win either way, as far as he was concerned! But then, the wall collapsed, and he offered a nod as she, typically, placed her fun before his. "Of course."

Eyes narrowed to thin slits as he eyed whatever it was she'd just slipped around his neck. Ugh. Resisting the urge to chew on the ends he could reach, he wrinkled his nose as that damnable handbag was offered up to himself. Pushing himself to his feet with a disdainful sigh, Grendel lightly leapt inside and circled a few times to try and make himself comfortable. Then again, he prioritized being able to breathe over a quick nap.

"I wouldn't dream of it. You might give yourself a hernia if you had to spend that money instead of letting it pile up." The cat muttered, musing. "...Pancakes." Yes, it'd been about a five second decision, but he did have a fondness for that syrup stuff.

She intentionally jostled the bag when she heard his muttered remark, but rested the large purse against her leg quickly soon after, having the afterthought of how difficult it might be to remove cat vomit from fabric.

"Fiine fine," came her own muttering as she made her way through the living room and out into the hallway. With a quick turn of a knob and a flick of a switch, she was out of the darkened apartment and soon stepping foot into the beautiful Saturday morning air.

Inhaling a deep breath, she paused for a moment before making her hurried way down the sidewalk and towards the nearby shopping district. It was a blessing to have found an apartment so close to the nearby businesses; she wouldn't have known what to do had she been located further out; it was far too expensive to take a cab out each weekend and god forbid she step foot on a public bus, of all things.

Humming aloud, she contemplated what store she would pay a visit to first for the morning. With the variety showcased in front of her, it would be a difficult choice indeed!

The cat struggled about in the swaying handbag for a moment until he could pop his head somewhat out of the top; the city life always did interest him on some level, and even now he watched with open curiosity. Pity Ursula didn't care to investigate it herself. He wasn't exactly able to do it himself in this form, was he?

Musing, Grendel would speak after a while, "What do you want today?" For as many clothes and irritating accessories as the girl had, one would think she'd be tired of gathering up more by now...

She tossed the question back and forth in her mind. Hm... what did she want to shop for today?

Strolling down the walkway, she contemplated her options as she peered into the windows of the stores. Typically, Ursula had at least a vague idea of what she was after on her shopping excursions, but today was simply a stress reliever from a hard week of sitting behind a desk doing practically nothing.

Her eyes casually browsed across the displays, ideas running through her mind. She could always find more blouses for work... though the boys probably didn't need further frustration, as much as it pleased her to tease any and all males. Hm... no, she could always find more shoes, despite the overflow her closet currently attempted to contain...

The answer soon came to her as she passed by a window filled with business outfits. One on particular, a dark shade of gray, reminded her greatly of her own Lieutenant uniform. That was it. Although Charonite would probably have a cow if she tried to update her uniform, nothing said Ursula couldn't have a prettier one to wear whenever, for her own benefit. And who knows, perhaps even the great General-King might find it more appealing.... and pleasing the General-King was very much a high priority on the young woman's list.

"I think I've found our store, Gren." She said softly, nudging the purse.

Well, while the girl had made up her mind, the cat gave a mighty yawn and sank back into the cavernous depths of the handbag. Well, she'd get him when she wanted him--Ursula simply wasn't a shy girl. Soon enough, the nudge came, and he rose with surprising obedience to eye the object of desire. Bright eyes flicked dismissively over the outfit, and he couldn't help but comment. "Dress to impress, mm?"

Grendel yawned and settled back into the bag, flicking his tail silently to himself. He wasn't about to act until she got everything in place for him; into the dressing room, etc, etc. He'd put on a show, all right; he had a reputation around these parts. The knowledge made him smirk to himself faintly; the more he was recognized, the riskier it would be for his charge to pull this off. He could only distract so much--if she wasn't careful, they would recognize her whenever he seemed to spring up.

She debated on dipping her hand into the bag and giving his ear a sharp pinch at the comment, then decided her manicured fingers could go another day without bite marks.

Giving her hair one more flip, the young woman breezed her way into the store. Suits, skirts and blouses decorated the walls and displays all across the store, and Ursula was quick to snap her fingers at the nearest sales girl to get her attention.

With a snappy order and a wave of the hand, both women were soon ravaging the racks and stands, until the poor worker could carry no more. It was at that time, with a dramatic sigh, Ursula finally conceded that it was time to start trying on things.

After nearly an hour of dressing and undressing, modeling and posing, and sending the poor overworked associate for different sizes and styles, Ursula was finally ready to leave. She'd gently set aside the favored suit and another blouse next to her bag, and turned back around towards the dressing room.

While Ursula prided herself on having a tidy closet, it wouldn't do for the sales associate to keep track of everything that was put into the room. With a sling here and a toss there, clothes were successfully scattered across the dressing room, piles in the corner, mismatched outfits on hangers, pants thrown across the bench. After sending the girl out for another color change, Ursula used her foot to gently nudge at the bag.

Now it was time for some fun.

He was quite pleased to say that he managed to sneak in another long nap even despite the way Ursula belted out orders left and right, quite unconcerned with the plight of the poor workers. The cat couldn't say how long he really dozed, only rousing when the bag eventually shifted enough that he knew it was purposefully done. With a mighty yawn, the cat nimbly hopped from the mouth of the bag, stretched, and slipped from beneath the dressing room without so much as a backwards glance at his charge.

The first thing was to make sure he was as far away from the scene of the crime as possible, leaping into clothing racks and skirting along walls and the like. Silently, he found a good spot to simply sit and wait, tail flicking methodically back and forth, back and forth. Then, when the first set of legs passed innocently by... Grendel pounced with a yowl that sounded like a shriek and a snarl, more than enough to scare the hell out of the naive shoppers and staff nearby.

Of course, the staff knew the myth of the Rabid Attack Cat, and people were soon shouting for help while the unfortunate woman screamed and desperately tried to shoo the cat away. He wasn't doing much damage at all, savaging the ends of her long skirt and occasionally flicking his claws and teeth across bare skin without puncturing, and soon he was sprinting about the place. He looked quite the demon, fur puffed up and teeth bared, even letting his eyes roll back a little in his head from time to time as he pounced on top of the jewelry case and leapt at the poor sales woman's face (eloquently missing, of course).

The store was in chaos.

Humming to herself, Ursula took her time tucking her new treasures into her bag, and redressing herself. Adjusting her blouse in the mirror, a smile began to spread across her face as she picked up her bag and a pile of clothing.

Exiting the dressing stall, she made eye contact with the worker just as a loud shrieking began on the other side of the store. Ursula's eyebrows rose as if in surprise, her mouth slightly agape as a handful of workers and shoppers began to migrate towards the screeching woman. It was clear that Grendel was doing quite a fantastic job of keeping the crowd occupied, and the orange haired woman gave the cat a few more minutes of limelight before her dainty nose wrinkled, a disgusted expression evident on her face.

"Well I never!" She huffed, her reaction showing just how appalled she was to this new situation as she shoved her pile of clothing into the woman's arms. "You expect me to shop in a store that houses... that houses vermin?"

It was the sales girl's turn to stand with her jaw slacked, her meek voice attempting to sputter an excuse for the outrageous situation as her commission was clearly intending to leave without making a single purchase. Torn between chasing after a customer and aiding the poor woman being attacked by the infamous Rabid Cat, it wasn't until after the door closed behind Ursula that she finally made a move towards the victim across the room.

Gently patting her bag, the Negaverse Lieutenant grinned victoriously as she made her way across the walkway and into the neighboring park to wait for her partner in crime.
