Starring across the down Sequoia almost glared at the scenery as she mulled things over in her mind. A lazy breeze tossed her fur playfully but she was too focused to enjoy it. Though it was still fairly early for her to be up it seemed to be later with the looming Grey clouds in the sky warning of rain. she sat at attention occasionally brushing her ears with a paw or fluffing her fur. she was a fairly large rabbit but nothing remarkably impressive. She considered herself well rounded though she has quite a temper. as she sat watching the dreary down she couldn't help but feel like something was brewing other then the clouds. perhaps silver was about to race through the down and cause a ruckus or maybe Yew would come to visit. something like that, she thought, was the feeling she was having. Either way, she was itching for something productive to do.

Even the ever ornery Ginkgo managed to enjoy the cool breeze on this particular afternoon. He needed some sort of break, as he had been incredibly busy the past few days, but there was still much work to be done and he couldn't retreat to his burrow just yet. An Owsla's work was never finished, or so he thought to himself as he sighed and shifted on his haunches and swiveled his ears to catch the sounds the breeze carried.
Nothing seemed out of place and no elil were about. This brought a sigh from him as he let the breeze ruffle his fur and carry the scents of the Down across his ever active nose.
The small officer plopped down on all fours as his amber eyes caught sight of another rabbit, set apart from the others who were out to siflay at the time, and she had his interest. Unfortunately, she was larger. That generally was the case and he shrugged it off as he loped steadily towards her. He pounded a paw to catch her attention, just one strike, to let her know his approaching wasn't one of any urgency.

The dusty brown does' ears twitched at the sound and she promptly turned her head to acknowledge the officer's approach. Though she sat back slightly she kept her ears up at attention though this was, for her,a compulsive behavior. "good morning" she greeted casually, and somewhat flatly as he drew near

"It is, the weather is surprisingly pleasant." He slowed his lope and came to a stop not too terribly far from her. Flattery, that was what he needed, and he would use it in just the right moderation. It was what he was attempting with every buck and doe he approached and offered a chance to so far. There were a few that, were, indeed promising.
"Seq...uoia, is it not?" He knew he recognized her and her scent, but it took him a moment to conjure up her name in his memory. She wasn't one he had spoken with often. His amber eyes studied her dusty hued frame as he seized her up.

Sequoia nodded " indeed it is. and you are Ginkgo, yes?" she replied softly, her icy blue eyes studied the smaller buck with much curiosity. he wasn't particularly large like many in the owsla but obviously he had something sufficient to offer the position. "you had something you wanted to say. is it important?" she asked with a slight tilt of her head she wasn't one for idle chitchat when something further piqued her interest, such as why The Owsla Officer would approch her with no plainly obvious reason.

"I am..." He could feel her eyes on him. Making judgements? He was not sure, but he automatically assumed the worst and it took will power to keep his temper from flaring. Instead, he offered her a thin, wry smile.
"And it is. You're a sharp one, just as I was hoping you would be. That's the kind of stuff we need to see amongst the warren rabbits. Owsla, especially. We actually have a bit of an opportunity to thicken the Owsla ranks, thanks to Bracken. He is going to have us go on a raid soon, you see, and he decided it would be a wonderful chance for us to find some new recruits, so I am selecting a few promising hopefuls to go along. What would you say if I offered you said chance?" He was blunt, tilting his head to one side as he regarded her with a single, amber eye.
There was no sense beating around the bush or trying to flatter her. Does seemed to be able to sense false flattery, at least that was what he had found through his own experience during breeding season.

That had been exactly what she had been waiting to hear. she had long wanted to Join the owsla. her father was owsla before being called by the black rabbit. he was attacked by a cat on a farm, though Sequoia was certain he fought rather then fled he was bull headed and always thought little of Does. Sequoia then considered all bucks hot headed and too proud to let a Doe do a Bucks job.
when she heard that it was actually possible for a Doe to make the Owsla she had set her heart and mind on it with a fire lit in her belly for fuel and it seemed to have paid off so far, as now a chance to prove herself just dropped in her mitts. " I'd say 'yes sir' I won't disappoint." she replied confidently with a firm nod. she was so excited to go and very pleased with herself but she knew how to contain such things and simply flicked her ears.

Her reply had been just what he had wanted to hear. That made two attending that he was sure of, now. There were many more to go. He now had her and the big, spotted farm rabbit. The wry grin grew and he nodded his own head, spurred on by the obvious confidence in her voice. He had to commend her for being able to keep calm when she was obviously thrilled.
"Good. We need rabbits we can count on and I think you have what it takes."

She nodded again, pleased he approved of her and the praise of his thoughts about her reliability was true flattery. She liked his manners and she cracked a wicked smile the best her lapine face could. "Glad to hear, it's about time someone saw it. I'm not a much of a homemaker." she chuckled inwardly, she did have some humor about her, the life of a regular Doe just didn't suit her, having kittens and staying in a burrow to raise them just seemed too boring.

"You do seem rather feisty."
He chuckled lightly as he rubbed his paws across his chest, grooming himself as he prepared to move along to the next rabbit he felt he should bring along on this little, dangerous escapade. His swift mind was already working, turning, planning.
If she knew the truth behind his motives, she probably would of been furious with him.
He paused and dropped to all fours again, taking time to survey their surroundings a once more. All seemed fine, which was good. He still had much more to do on the surface. There were many rabbits to see...
"All is very well. I must be off, now. Take care."
And with that, he turned and loped his way towards another gathering of rabbits in the distance.
