Why was she doing this?
Was she supposed to?
She felt like a traitor!
But...but he'd been nice to her. And she wanted to go and make sure he was alright. He'd been acting funny, and she was worried the heat was getting to him or something. She was a healer, she could help with these sorts of things. So, after having spent a little while with the cubs and making sure they were all healthy, she moved through the pride quickly - or as quickly as she could with her still sore paw. It was mostly healed, but still somewhat sore, preventing her from running at full-speed. She didn't want to slow, though - what if another male saw her!?
Hearing a rustle behind her, she yelped, dashing forwards with a low whine, ignoring the searing pain in her paw as she rushed into the den she thought was his...and instantly tripping over something fluffy, landing in a large, painful, very uncomfortable pile at the back of the cave.
She whimpered. Before Uya came to the Antianeira, his life was full of work, little play, and a lot of careful planning. Now, he had all the time in the world to do whatever he wanted. He slept. A lot. And daydreamed. A lot. And right in the middle of one of those daydreams, something completely and totally unexpected happened.
Someone tripped over him.
Snirking out of his relaxed daze, Uyahambe rolled to his stomach and jerked his head around, frantically searching for answers as to what had just happened. A strangely familiar whimper met his ears, and the male turned to look at the back of his cozy little den. Sure enough, it was exactly who he had suspected.
"Sia?" he murmured, staring in surprise. But instead of just lying there like a stupid heap, he stood and went to help the female...almost...like a GENTLEMAN.
"You alright, poppet?" he laughed, leaning in a shoulder in an attempt to help her up.She whined softly, falling onto her side from where she was onto her head, giving a grateful purr at his help. But that didn't help the fact she she'd woken him up. Although...he seemed to be taking it pretty well. Cheeks bright red, she quickly shuffled awya from him, keeping her injured paw up so as to avoid putting anymore pressure on it. Ugh, this was going to put the healing back at least another week! Her and her stupid, ridiculous, IDIOTIC ideas.
"S-S-S-Sorry, s-sir." she whispered, no longer quite as bold, as she looking to the floor in shame, "S-Sorry I w-woke you. I...I-I'll leave."
She moved to limp around him, not wanting to disturb him anymore."Hold up, now!" Uya started hastily, curling around to walk beside the female, not wanting to do something stupid like, say, jump in front of her. That would only make things go downhill even faster. And he didn't want that at all. He wanted Sia to be very comfortable around him.
Some things may have changed, but that bit at least stayed the same.
"I wasn't sleeping, just daydreaming. Slacking." he said speedily, trying to change the female's mind. After all, she'd come to see him. That was a huge deal!
Black eyes finding her paw, Uya stepped back a bit, frowning as he absorbed the situation. "You've gone ahead and hurt your paw again, haven't you?" he chided, seeming upset with himself rather than at her. He waved a forearm to a place near the entrance of his den where palm leaves sat in a cushy-looking heap. "Lie down for a minute," he offered. Then, realizing a potential blunder, he quickly added, "if you want to."Hold up? Why did he want her to stop? Oh, was she going to get punished!? She whined without realizing it, halting immediately and wincing, preparing for the beating that was going to come. Sure, Uya was nice...but he was a male, right? And they were all the same, really.
But...wait. She didn't feel pain. And he was assuring her that he hadn't been sleeping?
Since when did males do that!? Confused, she turned, cocking her head curiosly. Her cheeks flushed at the mention of her paw, however, Nafsiari looking for the ground again, suddenly feeling like a young cub being told off. But that was better than being punished, anyday. She spotted the cosy-looking spot, and limped over there willingly, carefully lowering herself into a comfortable position before looking up to Uya again, her eyes shining with something...different.
Trust? Naivety? Concern? Or maybe just a mixture of all three.
"Sorry," she mumbled, casting her eyes to the ground, "I got spooked and stood on it"Something in her was changing--that much was evident. She looked...different. And it was definitely apparent that she trusted him a lot more. If he had still been following his plan to a T, he would've been feeling pretty smug right then. But it just so happened that he was faltering with himself and his scheming ways.
Settling down a reasonable distance away from the female, Uya tossed a loose lock of black hair out of his eyes and set his gaze back to Sia.
"You don't have to apologize to ME. I'm sorry I spooked you," he offered, frowning.

He settled down a reasonable distance from her, and she offered a small, grateful smile. However, as if to show a little good will, she herself shuffled a little closer, smile surprisingly bright for Sia. Sitting herself down, albeit a little awkwardly, and in a position that would have allowed her to be off in a second should she need to.
"No, it was my fault, s-sir," she mumbled, casting her gaze downwards. She shouldn't be spooked as easily. She knew she was pathetic - stupid and frightened. Cynerubor deserved better than her, and so did the Antianeira. But she remained, eternally grateful of their hospitality. "I-it wasn't you. P-Please, accept my a-apology."

Uyahamba burst out laughing, a strange-sounding laugh that was not at all menacing, but held an almost tangible feeling of disuse. His ears rolled back as he smiled at the female, trying to ignore how gorgeous she was--trying to focus on their conversation.
"I accept it, madame," he said graciously, bowing his head in a mocking manner. He cast a black glance upwards through his dark bangs and said, "But you have to accept mine, too."
Whether it was her fault for rushing into his den, or his fault for sleeping too close to the entrance--it didn't matter. Besides, she had come out to see him. HIM. Instead of him going to see HER. That was a huge, huge deal. He couldn't stop thinking that. But at the same time, he didn't want to rush headlong into things just because he was making progress with her. Things still had to move slowly...
"So, what do you...want?" Uyahambe began hesitantly, unable to hide the glint in his eyes.

He was laughing. Her ears drooped again, Nafsiari shuffling backwards, both embarrassed and upset. Had she said something wrong? He spoke, but in a distinctly mocking manner, so she reamined where she was, in the same submissive position she always seemed to be in - or at least, she was always in it around the males. It was the only way to avoid punishment. "O-O-Okay," she whispered in reply, nodding to show she did accept. That was the right answer, right?
What did she...want? She didn't really know, that was the problem! Her cheeks flushed pink, Sia whining softly as she suddenly felt trapped, unable to escape. She knew there was a perfectly good exit to the side of Uya, but she didn't know he wouldn't move, and demand an answer. And anyway, it was rude not to reply. But...but she didn't have an answer!
"I j-just...w-wanted to s-s-see you?" she offered, knowing it was an answer that would be well received by most males. Was Uya like most males, though?

Ughh, how was he ever going to get used to this change he had forced himself into? That females weren't all the same? That they had other benefits and qualities besides...besides...well, other things...
As if to help him along with his change of path in life, Sia said something that utterly surprised him.
She just wanted to see him?
...Really?
Blinking, Uya stared at the female, obviously in a bit of stupor at her answer. He looked surprised, flattered, embarrassed and confused at the same time. It would be a lie to say Uya had only been with a few females in his life...Even females he didn't know wanted to see him. But they always wanted MORE than just seeing him, he knew that. And he never failed to deliver. Besides females, many others always wanted to see him for different reasons--get jobs done, he owed them something, they owed him something...There were always petty reasons.
And while he thought at first, coming to the Antianeira and joining on this plot, that he would have so many things the same as his old life, he had become more and more unsure. Then he had finally decided to give up on his plan for using Sia. It just didn't seem worth it, strangely enough. And if she hadn't changed him enough already, now she was making him feel even stranger.
No one had ever just wanted to see him in his entire life.
So instead of giving a charming, coherent reply with a swift little smile and a sexy shuffle of his shoulders, the male seemed to twitch in position and lose focus on everything around him. It was a confusing, consuming strand of thought whenever the fact came about that Uya's world was changing entirely in the span of a few days.

Nafsiari was...confused. Had she said something wrong? His facial expression went through dozens of different shapes and such, and she merely frowned, taking a step forwards as if to ask if he was alright, her head bowed in concern. What had she done now!? She always seemed to say something wrong. She was nothing, she had to learn that - she should just stop speaking, then everything would be so much better!
It was when he started to twitch that she got worried, limping forwards swiftly, soon right beside him, nudging him with her nose in a move that was rather bold for the meek female. She whined, long, low and loud, nudging him again, but this time with her injured paw, wincing a little as mild pain shot through it. "U-Uya...w-what's wrong!?"

Uya could hear his heartbeat in his ears as he watched Sia actually approach him. Was she really not at all the type of girl he thought she was--shy, meek, weak, usable... Was she stronger than she looked? Was she trying to use him? Had she turned the tables on purpose? What was she planning? What was she doing? The little, crazed female...Doing all kinds of things to his head. She was plotting all along, wasn't she?
But in the instant he felt her nose against his skin, the defensive sneer left his maw and he was a lump of clay again. His eyes jerked over her, up and down, up and down, trying hard to get a feel for what she was trying to do, but never able to get an answer. Her paw was against him, she winced, she said his name--a nickname...
Uyahambe snatched the female's injured paw in his own, gently but firm as to not damage her further. Nose inches from her own, Uya glanced back and forth from eye to eye, with a feeling he never had before, or perhaps one so old and dusting in a corner of his chest that he had forgotten it.
"You are," he murmured.

She wasn't sure what was happening. Was he ill, perhaps? She was a healer, so she could help! His eyes were crazy jerking everywhere, and she whined once again, glancing up and out of the den, wondering if she should go get help. But what if they thought she'd hurt him!? She couldn't bear another punishment - she just couldn't!
As she loked up he snatched her paw, and she gave a frightened cry, first instinct being to tug back. She soon regretted that, though, a strangled cry of pain escaping her maw as she was careful to remain still, not wanting to cause herself anymore pain. She was? ...W-What did this mean? Suddenly very, very frightened Sia began shaking, shivering and shaking rather violently as she gave a low whimper. "I-I-I'm s-s-s-so sorry! P-Please don't h-hurt me!"

Feeling trembling against him and seeing Sia shaking like a little leaf, Uya's eyes seemed to harden, as if he had realized something. He released her paw, ears turning to listen to her pathetic-sounding pleas for mercy.
They hadn't known each other for very long, but not for very little, either. The fact that she still thought of him as a blood-thirsty lusty abuser made his stomach turn a bit. Even back where he used to live, hardened and untrusting of everyone and everything, he never forced himself on anyone, and certainly never hit a lady. Not one that didn't deserve it, anyway...Not unless she hit him first...
"I'm not going to hurt you, Sia." he said quietly, almost bitterly, as if disappointed at her thinking pattern.
After letting go of Sia's paw, Uyahambe moved away, like a shrug. He changed positions so that he was facing the right instead of left, looking at her. Now he faced the den's wall. Either things went his way and he was livin' easy, or things blew up in his face and he ruined everything.
Such a shame that it was so often the latter would happen more than the former.

She whimpered again as his eyes hardened, trembled beneath him, terrified that she'd said something wrong. From her expereinces, all makes had tempers - tempers you didn't want to upset, or face the consequences. She was so, so scared of them. She was sure Uya was different, but instinct told her otherwise, and she stumbled backwards as soon as she was released, giving a single, quiet sob.
Why did she always mess things up!? She was a failure, a complete failure. Feeling she had to make things right, especially when he faced away, she dragged herself towards him, nudging his thick fur once again with her nose, despite the fact that she was still trembling a little. "I'm s-s-sorry, U-Uya," she whispered quietly, afraid of speaking any louder, "I-I-I didn't t-think you w-would. B-But....b-but o-others h-have. A-And..." she trailed off, whimpering softly as she collapsed in a pile of fur beside him, suddenly utterly exhausted.

Well THAT was unexpected.
Startled and spinning around where he was lying, Uya beheld the female, eyes wide and maw twisted open in confusion.
She was a sobbing mess of fur and trembling and Uya had noooo idea what to do. The only female who had ever flung herself at him in such a way was his younger sister when she was begging for a place to stay, after her boyfriend had kicked her out. Because of that strange memory connection to his current situation, Uya felt even stranger, not sure of what to do.
"It's--," but he stopped himself short, second-guessing himself; always second-guessing himself. Sighing, the male moved closer, awkwardly placing his paw on her back in some act of comfort. He was, of course, unused to such actions. "I'm sorry to hear that," he said. It really was a shame to think of how easily males abused females. Why not get them to do what you wanted in a more sophisticated manner, through charms and seduction?
...Not that...He had experience--okay, he did, but he wouldn't sing about it to the hills.
"I'm not a good guy all of the time, but I won't hurt you, poppet." he said assuredly.

He started speaking, but stopped, and she shook a little more. What was wrong? Didn't he know what to say? Was she so horrible that he was lost for words? She jumped at first when the paw was placed on her back, but soon settled down, eventually stopping her shaking altogether. She hiccuped lightly, cheeks flushing pink afterwards, as a quiet, low purr vibrated throughout her body. This was...kinda nice.
He was sorry? Her eyes turned to his, watching him for several moments, before she had to look away, feeling far too feeble to do so. She looked back up as he spoke again, this time holding his gaze for longer, before looking down again to his paws, gently reaching out her good paw to nudge one of them. She didn't really know why.
"T...Thank you."

Uya smiled, trying to ignore the pleasant feeling of her paw on his, and focus on what was happening on an intellectual level.
Her trembling had stopped and she seemed very calm, even happy. That was a miracle as far as he was concerned. It meant very, very good things. But for once, the good things he was thinking had nothing to do with physical attraction. It was more like he was satisfied that an emotional border was being crossed. It wasn't that he even saw the female as a challenge--something to be broken into...More that he...Decided he liked her, she was different, and was happy to see she was coming around to him.
After a little pause, Uya seemed to shrug a little, maybe uncomfortable with the stuffy silence.
"Friends?" he offered, smiling a little in his usual charming way. Though this time, the charm wasn't on purpose. His facade of the handsome seducer had fallen away.

There was silence, but it wasn't awkward. Not for Sia - she found herself not really worrying about if she'd done something wrong, or if she'd somehow given him nothing to say. She closed her eyes, purring growing a little louder as she shuffled around, making herself comfortable, opening her eyes when he spoke, smiling still.
She looked at his smile, feeling one of her own creeping up her maw as she lowered her head into her paws, smiling as she nuzzled his paw gently with her nose.
"Yes. Friends."
