code: played by means they are player-controlled-charachters. open means available for play. NPC means only a Crew member of the guild may play NPC, open means that normal people may play them, but only as background charachters. I wand as many originals as possible for this, since the rules governing everything have been altered to fit my alternate universe, as well as to make it rpg-able. I'm not too terribly strict, I just have a few opening bits plotted out, after that, I just have main plot points that will be reached by player-driven goals.

FFX Evil Arises Anew

Preface: Spira, circa 5 A C (After Calm)

Basically, this is what Spira looks like five years post-FFX. Alternate Universe and Alternate Timeline.Cameos from charachters in both games and Aeons and Guardian Forces, etc from other Final Fantasy games will also make appearances.

A full year after the defeat of Sin, the religeous of Spira were lost, devoid of a goal to strive for, devoid of a faith, since Yevon was proven so terribly, terribly corrupt. It was then that someone discovered a lost ritual that had been written down after Yunalesca summoned the Final Aeon. It was the ceremony and spell to turn a person into a Fayth... but along with it was a variant form, one that let the person turned into a Fayth to still live as a separate being, so they did not sleep, as the Fayth did, but *lived*. The first Fayth and Aeon restored was the one in Besaid, fittingly enough.

Sphere Hunters and the Merc Corps branched off of what the Crusaders once were, the former looking for old spheres, recovering Spira's histroy- some for personal gain, others benevolently. The latter did what the Crusaders once did- they protected towns and travel agencies and a myriad of other places from fiends. Nooj, the leader of the Merc Corps, placed the headquarters on Mushroom Rock Road, a location many felt was fitting indeed.

With the restoration of the Fayth, a new religion arise- unimaginatively titled "New Yevon" by it's leader, Baralai. One of the first things it set down as an edict was that "machina"- machienes- were no longer heretic. Thus came to birth a public political faction run primarily by the Al Bhed, specifically, a blonde named Gippal. These two factions, while not precicely at loggerheads, were also at an uneasy peace- even after the events in the FFX2 game.

Yuna was revered as a High Summoner still... though five years is enough time for people to settle down and not but her *too* much about who she was. She was the de facto Grand Maester, and though she never complained, her friends believe she dove headfirst into her own kettle of fish. She left the Gullwings four years into the Calm, when Shelinda begged her to help.

Wakka settled down in Besaid and married Lulu, their toddler is the favorite of everyone who lives on the island. Khimari became chief Elder of the Ronso, and brought together the remmnants of his people, uniting them with the purpose of protecting the gateway to Zanarkand, and the sacred heights of the mountain. Rikku took command of her own airship, co-captained by Brother and Buddy. They, along with several other people both Al Bhed and not made up the Gullwings- one of the few organized groups of Sphere Hunters that actually traveled all over Spira.

Nobody knows what became of Yuna's other two Guardians except for those who were there. their endings were never told.

Of course, that had repricussions. There is an unofficial hunt for information on the life and death of the legendary Guardian Sir Auron. An anonymous slush fund is available to reward people who find information on Auron, and all of the evidence and memorobilia collected is always forewarded to Djose, where it is recorded, catalogued, and stored in some locked-away basement- but the stories told and passed on, and the information discovered is open for the general publiuc to view- with a handful of exceptions. Nobody knows why some information sent on becomes mysteriously missing, or why some memorobilia (his sake jug) is never on display.

No one really notes or seems to remember Tidus, which, so the few that remember him think, is actually all for the better... else Yuna would be chased by story-gatherers.

But enough of my rambling.

Let our story begin...

FFX- Evil Arises Anew

Prologue- Whispers at Midnight

Seven cowled figures chanted in unison, drawing power to fuel the eighth figure's spell. All across Spira, nobody slept, awoken from sleep by a hoprrible premonition- no one except for two people, the spellcaster's target, and the person who knew the spellcaster the best.

The dark chant climaxed, and a long distance doublecast of Flare murdered the third Maester in as many months in her bed. The seven supporitng figures collapsed. A handful of pyreflies swirled around the eighth- who laughed malevolently. Walking away, a negligent wave of a hand saw the supporting spellcasters destroed courtesey an overpowered Ultima spell.

He/she/it smiled.

"Yes it *does* have its advantages, doesn;t it?"

On quite literally the far side of Spira, a young woman sat bolt upright in a cold sweat- *knowing* something terrible had just happened. She had seen it, after all. That's why she was the only other person asleep aside from the now... deceased... A young girl hugged her in relief, but she brushed aside the touch and the comfort and stood, wordlessly heading down the hallway.

The Forgotten had struck again.

Maester Mara Ronso was dead.

The young woman reached the roof of where she lived, and sat down on the edge with a sigh. She would get no farther sleep that night, though everyone else awakened by that spell would soon sleep peacefully. No, she could look foreward to many more sleepless nights.

In yet a different location- pyrefly-laden, as always, a familiar figure coalesces. It shakes its head sadly and looks back. **You would deny this to her still?** Seeming to recieve a reply to its thoughts, the figure shook its head and walked away, headed for Mt Gagazett, and a familiar location to practice.

Bevelle was alive with people- many of them locals, come out to look at the people who had come from all corners of Spira in response to the Grand Maester's call.. All over the city, banners and signs fluttered, directing all who had come to said call to proceed to the Bevelle Temple- the Highbridge.

Everyone was to gather there after the middday meal, and the Grand Maester, along with four of the living Fayth-children, would greet them at sunset. Valera, Ix, Shi, and Baha. The four children who spent most of their time in their respective Temples- unless the situation proved dire, as it was now. Some people commented in bemusement that the most powerful people in Spira all looked like young children.

A number of salespeople were scattered around the side of the highbridge farthest from the Bevelle temple, enough of them gathered to offer everything anyone who would come there could want- even memory spheres. A number of people had already gathered, and were talking amongst themselves, their gossip spreading the latest rumors.

"They say one of the Maesters is gonna come today, to answer the Grand Maester's call. I thought they were all too busy keeping Spira organized..."

"...who else could the two kids by the door be? They have to be Baha and Ix- the little girl looks just like the descriptions everyone's passing around of the living Fayths..."

"Don't go buying a weapon, the Grand Maester is going to gift the groups that go with new ones..."

"...heard it might be the Maester of Besaid..."

"...Al Bhed did a number on the protections for the Maesters. Kinda envy them, y'know?..."

"...a cousin told me the Maester of Djose left when The Forgotten appeared. No one knows what happened, wither. One day, she just vanished- and my cousin also said the Fayth stone stopped singing, too. It's as if it left with the Maester..."

"...Valera is so pretty, though... I wish I could meet the others, but I was told that the only way someone actually meets them is to come here. The only one not here until a few weeks ago was Ix, the Fayth of Djose... the others are all still inside but Ix... ...said that she told the Grand Maester she left because she didn't trust anyone there any more..."

"You should stop trivializing the situation with your gossip."

There was a momentary silence when that simple phrase carried over the not-so-quiet murmer. The speaker of the voice was unknown, as it seemed to have come from all directions at once, audible to everyone on the Highbridge. The softness of the voice did nothing to mute the edge in its tone.

The gossiping began again a few seconds later-
