((This is an IC only thread. All ooc should be in parenthesis))

The village is located at the southeast of the third largest Island (Cetalu - Ke-ta-loo) in the atoll. It is surrounded on three sides by forest, the other being open to grass and (being an Island) the sea. The village itself has been paved to make sure the many footsteps of the archaeologists, keepers and Aerandir don't turn it into a mudy slurry.

To the lower end of the village stands the community centre which has several rooms.

The village houses themselves are quite spacious. They contain three rooms and have a large outside storage. The main room and bathroom are located downstairs as well as the hearth and a small wooden ladder connects to the sleeping area upstairs. Windows are small but numerous, allowing many beams of light into the houses. There are plenty of blankets and screens provided for those who need them. In any other way keepers should feel free to customise their lodgings - the walls are simple constructions which may allow for some (though not too much) enlargement / adding to.
The storage areas house wood for the fire and anything else you might wish to put there. They are compartmentalised to allow for this space. If you need storage for anything larger / more delicate there is always extra space within the community centre.

To the north of the Island is a densely forested area, to the east and west, beaches. On the west coast, at each promonitory there is a tall wooden watchhouse which has views over the other islands in the atoll. There also appears to be a sunken vessel off of the west beach within the shallow water area. Just off the coast (and linking between some Islands) is a shallow water area. Aerandir should not venture past this area eaither whilst swimming or flying until they are adults as, if an accident occurs, they may not be strong enough to get back to shore. The deepwater has treacherous currents and high waves.

The archaeology site on this Island has now been closed and covered over.

Rahujo lies on a large rocky outcrop in the middle of Cetalu's western beach. It is a warm evening on the island, the breeze smelling of salt and seaweed. She props her chin up on her hands and stares out to sea at the blazing sunset.

Absent-mindedly, she reaches into her bag and pulls out a warm palm-leaf-wrapped parcel, then places it in on the rock in front of her and opens it to reveal a steaming mound of rice mixed with red spiced fish. Mmmm.

Scooping up some of the rice and fish with her fingers, she looks around the beach for a chance sighting of Osero. At the bottom of her bag, wrapped in a length of coarse grey cloth, is a bone-handled knife in a leather sheath, her project for the last few days.

The beach is deserted, from the grassy cliffs to the south to the northern jungle headland. No sign of the tall dark Aerandir.

Rahujo finishes one leaf-wrapped parcel, sets the emptied leaf aside, and pulls another from her bag, carefully unwrapping it and enjoying the savoury smell.

As she eats, she watches the waves roll in and crash on sand painted golden by the setting sun. Far out to sea, a few seagulls wheel and cry over the water, simple brushstrokes against the red of the sun as it sinks below the horizon.

Rahujo continues munching on the food, enjoying its subtle spiciness. She herds up the last few grains of rice with fingertips stained red by the curry paste, pops them in her mouth, then licks her fingers clean happily. Thirsty now, she stands up and takes a long draught from her water skin, then re-corks it, tosses it in the general direction of her bag, and yawns massively, full and satisfied.

The sun is almost gone now, the beach dark with the occasional boulder or stick casting long shadows on the sand. Rahujo stuffs the two empty palm leaves into her bundle along with her water skin, and picks her way over the flat rock, still warm from the day, heading towards the little cluster of yellow pinpricks that is the village.

Rahujo is bored. Osero's knife had been her only project for the last couple of weeks, apart from some assorted tools and knick-knacks for herself.

The Aerandir village currently has a population of three: Osero, Acia and herself. The humans bring in their own tools from outside, and the unborn Aerandir entrusted to the new guardians will have no need of tools for a while.

It's mid-day, and Rahujo sits on a rocky plateau, the highest point on the northernmost island. This high up, there is a refreshing breeze which ruffles her feathers and tangles her hair. She runs a hand over the wind-eroded granite of the plateau, sensing the spirit of the stone - its strength and weakness, composition, origins, how if she took a wedge and struck just there she could split off a perfect block... and below it all a deep warm feeling of understanding.

She thinks about the humans' tools. By the time she was a few months old, Rahujo had developed an instinctive feel for stone and metal, and had become bonded to a stone sledgehammer-head found in the ruins of an old forge. Her first work had been a twin-pointed spear for the hunter born a year after her. My first injury too, she thinks, rubbing her sightless left eye.

At the time of their extinction, the Aerandir had been working with stone, gold, bone, leather and bronze for centuries. However, iron was rare and difficult to extract and work, and steel and aluminium were totally unknown. Rahujo's knowledge and skills having mostly been drawn from the memories of her ancestors, her instincts are at a loss when it comes to most human tools and methods.

The sun disappears behind a cloud for a few seconds, and Rahujo realises she is becoming slightly chilly. She gets to her feet and eyes the terrain around her for a second, then jogs to the edge and launches herself off, arms spread wide. Ten feet down, she unfurls her wings and levels off into a glide, buoyed by the warm air rising from the sun-warmed ground.

Her heavy body is not particularly good at flying - she had taken a canoe to the island and climbed the hill to the plateau rather than using her wings, as Osero probably would have done. She'd always enjoyed gliding, however. A twitch of a wingtip sends her on a broad spiralling curve over the forest below. She spots a couple of brightly coloured parrots flying through the forest canopy, a little way below her.

The beach is just ahead. She banks and lets herself sideslip, lazily drifting towards the dense greenery of the treetops. From here the boundary of the forest looks like the edge of a waterfall, waves and ripples of lush green leaves suddenly stopping to reveal a bright white sand beach.

Rahujo glides over the beach, lifted by waves of warmth rising off the sun-baked sand. She dips one wing and gently spirals towards the ground, looking along the shoreline for her canoe. It lies a few hundred feet away, dragged up onto the beach. She brakes and lands nearby, her feet sending up sprays of sand as she dumps her remaining speed. Eventually she slows to a jog, then to a walk.

She stops at the canoe, and begins to push it back off the beach towards the sea. The tide has receded somewhat since she arrived, but eventually the boat slides into the water and she follows, splashing out into the shallows. Once the canoe is afloat, she clambers in and seats herself, then grabs the paddle from the bottom. The tough wood of the oars is hot from a day's sun, and smooth under her hands as she begins to paddle back to Cetalu.

Foenixfyre slips inside the community center of Cetalu. Her two artifacts clink softly against each other from their cushioned place inside her bag. This is her first foray into the main part of the village, and she's somewhat disappointed to find it so empty. She simply can't wait until the Aerndir have merged and evolved into living beings; it will bring some much-needed life to the beautiful area.

After looking around, she places a dish of cookies on a nearby table, trusting that people will help themselves.

With that, she slides a letter from her bag and goes in search of Alyosha.

Rahujo paddles her canoe towards the beach, running it aground on the white sand with a gentle scraping sound. She hops out, drops the paddle in the bottom of the canoe, and drags it up the beach, beyond the high-tide mark.

She has landed on the southern end of Cetalu's west beach, which curves away from her into the heat-hazy distance. It's late afternoon, but the sun is still hot, beating down on her as she pads quickly over the hot sand towards the village.

For the most part, the forest was quiet, seeming almost to slumber in the heat of the afternoon sun. The only sounds breaking the quiet were the occasional bird call, along with a faint rustling in the undergrowth from time to time.

The winged hunter padded through the area, keeping his spear propped on his shoulder with one hand. The two-pronged spear, his bonded weapon, was always with him. It was like an extra limb to the Aerandir. But, despite being armed, the hunter was not hunting. He was merely wandering.

With enough food already gathered to last the day, Osero did not intend to attempt to catch anything else. Food and prey here was bountiful, but there was little sense in taking more than what they actually needed. In fact, it wasn't the wisest of ideas to do so. Perhaps it was the wolf in him, but Osero enjoyed roaming the islands. He liked slipping through the forests, padding over the beaches and even flying out to the other islands in the atoll. If you 'island hopped' the flying distance between most of them wasn't far.

Just now though, he was in the forest north of Cetalu. By his reckoning, he should be emerging through the southern edge soon. The undergrowth in this forest was thick; but if you could find the natural trails, then it wasn't as difficult to move through. The sunlight was becoming stronger - there were less leaves and trees to block out the light. That was a sure sign he was approaching the edge.

With the trees and shrubs thinning out, Osero emerged out into the light. The sun was warm on his face, although the heat was not so great as it had been a few hours previous. Smiling faintly to himself, the hunter shifted his dark wings, moving his sharp gaze about the clearing. Finding everything as it had been before, as it always was, the Aerandir set off again, slipping through the tall grass.

When he reached the village, he should probably see about trying to fix that net he had left. If the holes in it could be repaired, it would make retrieving his catches that much easier, particularly for the bigger fish. Unfortunately, as it was at the moment, it wouldn't hold anything for long.

Stepping out of her front door, Iniko tucked safely under her arm, she looked around for a few moments, hesitent and wondering where to go. She let out a soft sigh, shifting the back back she had slung over one arm as she wandered into the village. She hoped that she would meet someone else, one of the other Aerandir, or even one of the other Aerandir owners.

She was quite eager to meet the others, this settlement being her home away from home, she felt it was important to get aquainted with the others who had found themselves in this miraculous situation.

Nyxa was down at the beach digging around in the soft sands that created the shore. The bottle that contained her artifacts was strapped safely to her waist. Glancing up, she noticed another human standing near the village houses. Excited, Nyxa gave a wave, "Hello?!" Grasping the small rucksack she'd created from leftover fabric, Nyxa moved swiftly to the stranger.

Dragonfly couldn't help but jump a bit at the sudden call inside the silent village.

A grin split across her face as she moved just as swiftly towards the stranger. She bowed a bit, still smiling as she stuck a hand out to introduce herself.

"Hullo!" she chimed, extremely excited to have met another human on Cetalu, "I'm Dragonfly. Your the first other person I've met here!"

Nyxa beamed at the other girl, promptly sticking her hand out to shake the others. "I'm Nyxa! Man, I'm glad to see someone else around here, I can't tell you how lonesome I've been getting." Her head tilted curiously, "I have to ask, what two artifacts did you get?" Wrifling around in her small makeshift rucksack, Nyxa produced her single jar, "I have a panther tooth and a cockerel.. er.. rooster feather. His name is Lucius!"

"I know the feeling," she replied, beaming as she pulled her hand back, pulling her own jar to the front.

"A rooster and a panther? What an interesting mix," she looked a bit puzzled as she pondered what would become of that combination, before grinning and replying, "My artifacts are a piece of raccoon fluff, and a heron feather... Her name is Iniko! Lucius is a really awsome name, by the way,"

She grinned, shaking her head a bit, and feeling like she was blabbering, or talking far too fast. Then again, she was excited to have met someone else.

"Where do you live on the island?" she asked, tilting her head a bit.

Nyxa pointed over to the group of village houses, "Over there. It's modest at best, but the next time I go back home I'll be sure to bring more things back with me." She chuckled, "I've just yesterday started a garden next to the house. Where do you live?"

Dragonfly grinned, and pointed out her own home, which was situated only a short walk away from Nyxa's.

"The one with the hydrangeas," she grinned, "I've hardly got anything in my house, besides boxes in at the moment.. I'm going to convince my Tahnee children to help me with the slave-- manual labour, and get them to bring over some more of my stuff when they visit,"

She grinned, obviously joking about the slave labour comment, but then again, one could never be completely sure about a half-demon.

"I have anything but a green thumb," she laughed, "Unless it's a really hardy plant, it'll die in my care,"

Nyxa chuckled, "I was studying botany for a while, my adopted daughted Adrienne's somehow leeched my knowledge of plants from me." She chuckled again at the slave labor comment, "I have three kids, all girls. Adrienne, Olivia, and Zora. Adrienne seems to be around twelve, but the others are just babies yet."

She waved a hand towards the houses again, "I'm thankful for the furniture that was there already, but I brought some stuff to decorate with."

"I work for a couple of pet shops in my spare time," she grinned, "Though, nothing really... Well... Jobby. I've always wanted to be a writer or an artist though... Oh hey! I do commissions too, though that's more fun than a job,"

She paused as she listened to Nyxa speak of her children.

"I have a bunch of insane teenagers," she grinned, "Four boys and a girl... I just adopted two more Tahnee children too... So six boys in all. Poor Kestal is my only girl so far... Iniko will be a nice change,"

She grinned haphazardly, putting her jar snuggly back underneath her arm.

"Yeah, as for what came in the home, I must say I'm more than satisfied with it. Though, I just need to add some more personalizations, and it'll be perfect," she laughed a bit then, grinning, "It's bigger than my apartment back in Durem, that's for sure!"
