Chobi: The black jackal set her self out for the day. She was sure her sister would be fine on her own for a few hours at least and the two really needed to stock up on some kind of food. The remains from the last kill were starting to go sour.
So on little Bura went on her merry little way , excersizing caution as she padded along. It wasn't easy being so small on the savanna. Not at all.
1/3: Mal was guarding the carcass of a kill that had been to big for her and her siblings to finish off in one go. Sure, some heyenas might chase her off, but it was worth a shot. Besides. If she could keep the carcass safe that meant one less hunting trip between them and their next meal. There were few things as great as a sure bet on food.

Chobi:
By the smells of it, there was a fresh kill near by. Smacking her lips, of course the little predator went to go investigate. Possible free meals were always welcomed with open arms in the savanna.
Bura was sadly mistaken upon reaching the scent. A lion seemed to be guarding it. Still, this wasn't gonna stop the small dog. Outting her self from the brush, the little black Jackal inched closer, approaching from behind.
1/3: Mal was licking her paws and, to be honest, daydreaming. She was full, content, and she most definatly had not heard any other preadators sneaking up on her. It couldn't he helped, she was lax by nature.
A moment later, her ears perked up, but she settled back into grooming herself when a quick scan of the area revealed no intrudors.

Chobi:The jackal froze in place when the lion seemed to alert her self, praying that the lion didn't look this way. Sure she could run away if said lion spotted her, but if this lion was fast, it wouldnt take much to take the jackal down.
All Bura could do was stand helplessly still
1/3: Fortunatly for her Mal was hardly the fast type. moments after being alerted she floped over onto the ground, ready for a nap.

((You know. xD* That last post goes from ridiculous to retarded now that I'm awake. I think I would have said anything for some sleep. xD! ))
Fortunately for her Mal was hardly the fast type. Moments after being alerted she stretched and then started sauntering about in an easy fashion. Man, this was such a simple task. It was really too bad Steken didn't pay attention long enough to do it. He'd be the perfect candidate otherwise.
In all her searching she never really glanced over at the corpse. She hadn't seen any predators, and the skies were clear, so it made good sense that the carcase it's self would be untouched.

(( X D No worries)) Bura took a few paw steps forward, when the lion didnt glance her way, the jackal made a sprint for the corpse. Her powerful small jaws grabbed a great big junk of flesh as fast as she could manage. After the piece of flesh was locked in her jaws, the female ran for it.
The lion was going to be pissed but she doubt that she would risk the large portion of her meal for one small chunk. So the jackal didn't go far into the grass. Just a small distance.
Infact, Bura culd still see the lioness and the kill. She could probably have a conversation where she was sitting no problem.
The jackal took a big bite of flesh and greedily swallowed. The fresh taste of blood had been worth the risk.

1/3: The sound of tearing flesh caught her attention. She spun, looking over the carcass for something. A jackal? Another lion? Something big, surely. It had to be big to have enough guts to steal from a lion.
She was quite surprised when her search revealed nothing. "Hrm?" he muttered, scanning the plaines for signs of life. "Maybe it was a mouse..."
Chobi: To Bura's relief the lion hadn't seen her at all! She glowed a little feeling quite confident in her self. She stole from a lion. The jackal took a few more greedily sized bites until she felt satified. The other part of the meat was going to go to her sister.
Feeling a little more bold, the jackal popped her head out of the grass and gave the lion a s**t eaters grin.

1/3: It was Bura's misfortune that Mal's head turned just in time to catch the grin.
"So it was a mouse!" she roared as she leapt towards the small jackal.
Really? A little jackal had the guts to try and steal form her? She was small. If she'd just asked Mal would have happily shared. Now though, it was personal.
Chobi: The jackal let out a yip and could only cower and close her eyes tight. She should have stayed low in the grass and just gone home but now it seemed she was about to die.
In a submissive last resort, the jackal flopped over on her back and exposed her belly. It was worth a try.

1/3: That was probably the last thing Mal was expecting. Still though, if the smaller carnivore was trying to catch her off guard she'd failed. Mal closed her jaws around the jackal, none too gently, and turned to carry her back to the kill.
Okay, so she'd stolen from Mal, but the lioness wasn't hungry and she sure as heck wasn't about to kill out of spite. She did, however, need to guard her kill.
Something she couldn't do if she was off dealing with a theif.
Chobi: The jackal let out a shriek of a wail when she was grabbed by the lion. The teeth, she could feel jabbing into her, but not yet piercing the skin. It was not comfitable at all and the jackal whined all that more.
"Let me go you bully!" She shrieked, "So I stole from you! You weren't gonna eat all of that!" She tried to wiggle some but it was ineffective. The teeth just scrapped againster her back opening a fresh wound. The jackal howled.

1/3: Mal sighed as she dropped her catch down on the ground next to the kill, holding her down with one paw. It's not like the tiny stranger was unjustified. Most lions would have her pelt as a trophy for stealing their kill.
At the hint of a familiar taste she licked her lips. Blood. She frowned.
"If you hadn't squirmed like that you wouldn't have gotten injured. I want to look at it. If I take my paw off you are you going to run?"
Chobi: The jackal was breathing heavily now from the panic of just being in a lions maw and still being alive. The lioness was right though, if she had stayed put and not squrimed, then she would have been un harmed.
If she tried to get away now it w as likely the lion would kill her if she got ahold of her. The lioness didn't seem to have a reason to lie to her so the jackal shook her head answering no

1/3: Mal lifted her paw, then nudged her so she could see her back. It wasn't deep. A scratch, not a puncture. The blood's flow was already slowing.
She sat down, then relayed her observations to the jackal.
"Now," she said, voice soft. "Why on earth are you stealing meat from a carcass with a lion sitting on top?"
Chobi: The jacakl stayed low to the ground and didn't move an inch when her wound was inspected.
"What kind of question is that?" Really, she was surprised a lion would even care enough to ask why. Wasn't it obvious why?
"Because stealing is an easier way to survive when you're so small."

1/3: "Then I should just sit here and eat all the little thiefs who come to steal from me," she muttered. "I can understand scavenging but that was sort of dumb..."
She shook her head, "Do you have anyone who could lick this clean for you?" She couldn't do it herself. She was afraid that with the wound already open her tongue would be too rough.
Chobi: The jackal squirmed a little when the lion muttered to her self. That was not a pleasant thought.
"I'm sorry," She said , now looking down at her tail, "I'm sorry you don't understand . " How could a big lion understand a small preditors ways. Hunger made one do crazy things.
Bura was starting to think her sister might be in the right. The two couldn't go on together like this much longer.

1/3: "You're putting words in my mouth and didn't answer my question," Mal said trying not to seem more threatning then she needed to be. "Do you or do you not have someone who can lick that clean for you? You can't reach it on your own."
Chobi: The jackals ears went flat on her head and she cowarded a little. The brave jackal that had stolen from the lion was now no more.
"Y-yes.. I have a sister..." The jackal trembled.
1/3: She turned back to the kill and tore a piece off to drop in front of her captive.
"Even lions have to scavenge sometimes," she sat down again, a bit further back. "I'm sure you've already taken your fill so take that back to your sister and have her fix you up. Understand?"
Chobi: The jackal nodded, slowly inching forward and nabbing the piece for her sister. Her jackal instincts kicking in, the female had sped off back toward the den. Just incase the lion changed her mind.
Bura ran through the savanna not looking back over her shoulder. She would never steal from a lion again.
