As your heart beats fast on this moonless night,
Embrace the cold and invite your fright.
For this is the time where the darkness comes back
To haunt our steps with its inky black.
As you walk through the gloom with a sack in your hand
And a mind for sweets that you will demand,
Be mindful of the shadows that evade your eye,
For they are spirits of those that in the coffin lie.
Be brave, young one, and be strong, for although your fears may rule,
You have to think of and honor those that at which life was cruel.
Bow your head and pray for those who were hanged for being a witch,
And pray for those who never got the memo of which button they had to switch.
For although this night is for merriment, it is also for remembrance.
So sing a song, say a prayer, or even do an honorable dance...
For it is the Day of The Dead...
And it is Halloween.
