I am going to get an Xbox 360 very, very soon. I have a list of games that I plan to get over time. I need advice on what games are better than others and which one I should get first.
Here is the list: Left 4 Dead (Actual title, I'm not using leet.) Dead Rising 1 and 2 (I am well aware that the sequel is not out yet. I'm just planning ahead.) I Am Alive Halo 3 ODST F.E.A.R. 1 and 2 Spore Street Fighter IV Naruto Rise of a Ninja and The Broken Bond (Sequel to Rise of a Ninja.) Dragonball Z Burstlimit The Beatles Rock Band Batman Arkham Asylum Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare The Orange Box
They are not in any particular order. If it helps, I am capable of getting Xbox Live at my house. Please help a fellow Gamer decide which Game(s) he is getting for his birthday. I have a lot of time to decide, but I like to start early so I'm not panicked at the end of the year (My birthday is around Christmas.)

Lucius_Ingeniosissimus Thanks. I will definitely look into those. And thank you for the tip about Halo 3. No offense, but I think it should be the other way around. Buy Halo 3, but rent ODST. ODST's campaign is way too short for $60, and if you're into getting all the achievements, you should be able to do so in a relatively short period of time. Rent it, spend a few days on it, and then go back to Halo 3 with the Recon armor once you're done. In addition, i've got a few game suggestions of my own: -Gears of War (1 or 2, but preferably 2) -Dead Space -Resident Evil 5 -Grand Theft Auto 4 -The Orange Box (Half Life Series, TF2, and Portal)

I was thinking about that after I posted, and you're right. Halo 3 is much better. I looked at reviews for both of them (I have my sources,) and I think I will get much more out of Halo 3 than ODST.
By the way, I don't like the Grand Theft Auto games for various reasons, but I'll definitely look up the rest. I've heard about all of them, except TF2. What is it?

If you are more of a multiplayer gamer Halo 3: ODST is a far better choice. ODST comes with 2 discs one is ODST Campaign and Firefight mode. The other is Halo 3 Multiplayer only with every DLC map released to date along with 3 brand new maps. If you were to buy Halo 3 and then get into the multiplayer and want to be able to play ranked matchmaking you will need to fork out 30$ for the dlc and then you still wont have the 3 new maps that come with ODST.
Halo 3: ODST has a short campaign. But the better Multiplayer experience. Halo 3 has a much longer campaign but you will be limited to the playlists you can play online and you will be missing like 12 maps.

Halo 3 ODST comes with: ODST Campaign/Online Co-op ODST Firefight Mode Halo 3 Multiplayer with all multiplayer features and 12 new maps allowing you to play in all 18 Playlists online. Halo Reach Beta Invite Halo 3 Comes with: Halo 3 Campaign/Online Co-op Halo 3 Multiplayer minus the 12 new maps and you are only able to play like 2-3 playlists online and you can only play un-ranked playlists I don't see how Halo 3 is a better deal unless you are really dying to play the campaign.

It's not that hard to understand man. You buy Halo 3 for 30 bucks (maybe cheaper if you're lucky), then play the campaign. Once you're done, rent ODST at your leisure and play that campaign and all the maps that comes with it. Once ODST lowers its price, buy it, and enjoy not having to pay $60 for either game. Plus, you're making it sound like Halo 3 has no maps. There are like 10 or 11 maps on it. How many do you really need to have for a couple hours of game time? All 21? I don't think so.

You get so much more for your money with ODST. Break down of ODST: Halo 3 multiplayer 15$ ODST Campaign 10$ ODST Firefight Multiplayer 10$ Halo 3 DLC that comes built into the MP disc 40$ Halo Reach Beta Invite 5$ 80$ in value for 60$ its a great deal.

I have no idea how you got dollar values for different sections of ODST, but in all truth it depends on how often the guy will play the game. Considering that he's buying other games as well, I don't think he'll spend too much time on it. Remember that this is supposedly his first time playing Halo 3. Who's to say he'll even like it? That's why I consider Halo 3 to be better for his needs. For half the price he gets a good introduction and a few maps to try out. If he likes it, he can add ODST as a rental. ODST is based more on the books, and if he doesn't know anything about Halo, he's gonna get lost at some points. If the guy was a Halo fan, and for some reason never got Halo 3, then maybe ODST would be better for him. But this is a guy who hasn't got a XBox 360 yet, so I don't think that's the case. Maybe i'm wrong. I dunno. I just want him to make a safe purchase is all. Now that I think about it, maybe he should just rent Halo 3. I mean our argument's a moot point if he ends up not liking it.

I just don't see any reason why you would buy Halo 3 and rent ODST. It makes perfect sense the other way around. Because if you buy Halo 3 ODST then you get the complete multiplayer experience allowing you to actually enjoy the online multiplayer because you can play in all the playlists. So why not buy ODST get an amazing deal on all the maps the ODST campaign firefight mode and a beta invite and then just rent Halo 3 and beat the campaign. Why spend 30$ to get a half a** experience and then if you end up liking it you have to buy ODST to get the maps so why waste 90$ when you could just spend 60$?
