Do ideas come in little tiny pinpricks and then get expanded, or do they start great big and scopy and then get refined?
Mm.. Both! Characters come as tiny pinpricks and then snowball into the present, while plots are as large and vague as they come.

Why do you choose to write in the tenses you do (present tense, or first person POV, or third person) and how do you choose particular styles for particular stories?
I've always been used to past tense. If I tried any other I'll inevitably revert back to past. I like 3rd person because the others are just so god damn LIMITING. What if your main's a dumb a**? You can't write deeply with that.

Do you have music that inspires your writing? (That you listen to while writing, or certain songs that remind you of certain characters.)
I have a TON of music that reminds me of characters, and they've even inspired certain elements in my characters. But I'm like Aly, I can NOT listen to music while writing or I'll get horribly distracted.

How do you brainstorm what comes next in a story?
I don't, it's SO BAD. I'm TERRIBLE at plot developments, TERRIBLE!! Usually plots come to me in dreams, strangely linear and concrete dreams. Beginning, middle, end, credits. Wake up, scribble it down, rinse and repeat.

What do you do when you hit a road block?
Stop. Sit there. Research. Usuaully I can squirm out of a road block by using some sort of historical event or fact. I LOVE incorporating events into my major characters.

How often do you end up deleting a whole bunch of already-written stuff, and how hard is it to let that stuff go?
Never. It's all kept in glass casing, my writing. Even THAT s**t. I can't delete a part of me.

What if you really, really want to include something but part of you is saying it's not right for that particular story?
I'll write about it in a short story, then. Get it out of my system.

Do you take notes longhand, and if so, when?
Never.

Do you use challenges by other people to inspire you?
Nope, I don't give a s**t.

Do you do anything in particular to get you into the right mindset to write a certain character or characters?
No, they just flow. Maybe I'll read past writings about the character, just to brush up and stay consistent.

Which characters are easiest for you to write, and WHY? Which ones are hardest, and again, WHY?
Easiest? The newish ones. Not so underdeveloped that it's awkward, but not so old that it's like trying to make hardened clay bend. Devante's in his hardened clay stage. His story's almost up. I love Stefan, and Aaron... he's still too new, too many elements I've added to him.

Which characters are most like you emotionally?
Stefan.

How often do you feel like what you're writing is fulfilling some emotional need - ie, when you're writing comfort, is it because you often feel that you don't get it IRL?
All the time! I never write though, so my emotional needs are neglected.

What about writing smut - do you find it easy, difficult?
Smut? What is that? I just asked my mom. LOL. "Dirty talking"? Depends on the character. It's easy with Dev. I couldn't go into detail though, especially not from 1st person view. That's like asking a blind man to describe what the colors look like. I don't know what any of it feels like!

What kinds of smut are easiest for you to write, and WHY?
Personally, I'd rather not WRITE about it...

Which of your stories is your favorite and WHY? Least favorite?
My s**t-tastic pokemon fanfiction. I love it because I finished it. I hate it for so many other reasons, one being that it made my plot development muscle shrink into a useless, lifeless section in my brain.

Which of your titles do you like the most/least, and why?
titles?

The Changelings (above) was just on a whim, ******** reason. My stupid little dragon story never had a title, but I'd unofficially titled it in Word "Solacerta's Curse".

How do you choose titles for your stories?
I wait till I finish, then pick out a theme or symbol I'd either consciously or unconsciously put into the work. If I find none then I usually find something from the VERY LAST LINE, so that the story is completely tied up at both ends.

Do you write differently with a cowriter than you do alone? Is it easier or harder?
I've never co-written, unless rping counts. I try to be more wordy and show offy in that case, but it's tiring. I like to do it myself more than with other people.

For series and long works, do you decide a goal in advance to stop at or are they open ended? If you do choose a goal, how often do you stick to it?
Open minded, no goal, no nothing. Writing's a hobby, not a career.

How do you deal with characters going a different direction than you want them to?
I work with it. Subtly try to steer them in my planned direction, but I gladly welcome any unexpected change in a character as long as I accidentally initiated it.

When a scene feels forced, what are the first few tricks you try to fix it?
I try to stylize it. That's usually the problem in a forced scene, the author's style bleeds out of it.

Are most of your fixes deletions or additions?
Both. I can't delete something without replacing it.

How long does it usually take you to write a story?
Short stories I can do in two days, like, that s**t shoots outta my a**. Long stories....years.

How many revisions do you go through?
One. I get it right the first time.

Do you use beta readers?
Only if they want to. I hate people that get you in a choke hold if you won't read their story NOW. It's not required. I'm my own editor.
