MANILA, Philippines – Nearly a month's worth of rain fell in six hours Saturday as Tropical Storm Ketsana slammed ashore in the Philippines, killing five people and stranding thousands on rooftops in the capital's worst flooding in more than 42 years.
About 13.4 inches (34.1 centimeters) of rain fell on metropolitan Manila in just six hours, close to the 15.4-inch (39.2-centimeter) average for the entire month of September. The previous record was 13.2 inches (33.4 centimeters) recorded during a 24-hour period in June 1967, chief government weather forecaster Nathaniel Cruz said.

This picture was taken by ME. Its the street in front of our church building (front parking lot sloping down to the road)
Yep.. thats whats happening on my side of the planet right now. i was stranded in our church building because we had an event. we couldnt leave coz the water level on the street was that high.. (our church was on the third floor). actually it was chest high during noon time today but it slowly petered down to waist high. we were able to leave our church around 4:30 pm (the water was knee high.. ick!) but then was stuck in traffic for 3-4hours.. >___< i decided to get off the car and walk home.. (only 20-30 minutes walk) and left my brother to bring home the car safely.
so yeah im safe back home.. though i feel sad for a lot of my fellow countrymen in the capital. most of them had their houses flooded until the second floor and had to be rescued using rubber boats on the rooftops. >____<

OMG Kai! I'm really happy you're okay! *huggles* I'm really sorry that this is happening, and hope that things will lighten up (water wise) soon.
I don't know how I would act if I was stranded, but I have been stuck after school in the lunchroom before cause of a lightning storm. Only was kept in there for about 20 mins, but it still sucked.

That is crazy, I'm really sorry.
Seems like there has been a lot of flooding and hurricane situations lately.

There's been terrible flooding in parts of the country here. Luckily, where I live the most we get are snow storms.
But I'm glad that you're safe! Like I said on facebook, I'll be keeping your family in my prayers and thoughts!

I'm glad you're okay! While there is occasional flooding in my part of the country, it's never near my house and it's never that severe. I hope it gets better soon...
I have to say though, the picture you took is intriguing... Never really seen anything like it.
