http://www.venganza.org/Anyone think this is cheeky, or just plain rude? I think it's clever, but then, I'm an atheist. (I'm surprised there isn't a thread for this already.)

I enjoyed it when I discovered it's existance, I thought it was funny how it was rude, but I never got into it deeper than that. Just found it humorous.

I love the FSM. The graphs concerning pirates and global warming would make my science and math teachers cringe, even if that is the point.

I think it's equally ridiculous as trying to get intelligent design into the science classroom. Then again, I believe that was the original intention, or something to that effect.

Did you know that there's already been a schism? They have Church of the Alfredo or something now, instead of the red sauce because they think the FSM is disgusted by it. I rofl'd a little at the hate mail, too.

I think it's kind of funny, and not really mean-spirited. Gotta respect the FSM (Parmesan cheese be upon him) whee

I see you have been touched by His noodly appendage! RAmen.
XD I knew Pastafarianism was growing into a full-blown religion the first time I saw FSM on somebody's bumper. Also, I'm buying a WWFSMD button when I get a chance...

Although I do prefer Discordianism for the same purpose, it wasn't tied to any particular event like that - so Eris's followers/duckers & dodgers do get to take a back seat politically, though Erisian thought is far more intricate and thought out.

I'm not all that familiar with Discordianism, a brief look at wiki makes it seem like Discordianism is also a parody religion (in some cases or to some extent)?

I'm not all that familiar with Discordianism, a brief look at wiki makes it seem like Discordianism is also a parody religion (in some cases or to some extent)? The people who understand Eris, but still take Discordianism literally, will tell you that the whole religion is about ducking, dodging and diverting Eris's attention to stuck up folks who really need to lighten up. Actual rituals involve a lot of laughter. One ritual even involved throwing poptarts on unwardy victims, but these days whatever they make poptarts with turned the "food" into rocks. It's really a giant pun about how we take religion so literally and seriously. If you really want to understand it, try reading their 'zine style "Holy Text" - I only call it that because I can't think of a better way to describe it. Robert Anton Wilson was a big proponent of Discordianism - initiating everyone he spoke to as Discordian Popes, telling them that it was their job to excommunicate every other Discordian Pope... It's a load of fun, especially when you read into what's underneath the surface. You'll find that he has a huge posthumous following on Youtube and that his musings extend far beyond Discordianism. Another great display of Discordianism is a sort of epic poem called "The Hunting of the Fnord".
