Having stayed in the same place for a little over a month, Aeos stared land that had once been a peaceful forest. It was fast into spring, but there was snow layering everything as though winter had fallen. Ice hung low from branches in the form of icicles, more developed along the trunk of the trees he tended to venture close to. Where there had been bright, multi-shaded greens of leaves in the trees, there was only bare branches of trees fallen into sleep. There were no animals in sight, most of which had probably tried to find another habitat since there was no food here. The ones who had stayed were foolish.

He bore no grief for the loss of possible companionship, as he once would have, and likely could have cared less. Likewise, the past Aeos would have had problems with killing even the smallest of creatures in cold blood in order to eat. However, with the unrestraint use of his powers, a hunger filled him and demanded it. It didn’t help that Seir had a taste for fresh meat, and would be able to eat it raw if the other Constellation so wished. Then again, now, Aeos would steal and pillage if Seir ordered.

A wolf hung in his grip, body dragged in the snow. There were icicles sunk into its body, its transparent shade allowing a sight into the canine’s insides if one cared to look. Signs of a blade cutting along the wolf’s flesh showed, but despite all the wounds, there was a faint flicker of light within the creature’s eyes. A dimming sign of life… A sign Aeos showed no heed to and continued to pull it along the snow.

Blood pooled and stained the frosty white, trailing back in smaller drips farther back that he could see. Crimson red against pure white made it starkly clear to what was what when one looked. If there had been more inhabitants around, Aeos might have considered the idea that someone would follow it to their campsite, but there was not, so he dismissed it absently. The Ice Constellation looked down, following dark red splatters of blood coating his clothes and skin.

Villagers and animals alike proceeded to tell Rhyme of a mysterious snowy area in the distance. Many animals had fled to Rhyme's forest, Rhyme grew suspicious of the surge of increase within the population. Apparently, an intruder had taken over the forest for awhile now, tyrannically destroying the forest these animals had lived in. Most troubling was the description of the constellation that had done so and the intensity of his powers. The long distance had the information delayed but no man or twilif wished to enter the area. Rumors of mercenaries and swordsmen and their disappearances in the forest frighted other courageous twilif.

Surely, there were other blue constellations that controlled ice within the world. Blue constellation with wings. There had to be. Rhyme thought to herself as she entered the white forest, each step into the snow crackled under her light weight, the cold air blowing harshly around her. Usually, snow was peaceful and soft in Rhyme's eyes. but this snow gave off a lethal warning, as if it was physically telling everyone to never approach.

Rhyme wasn't scared of the danger. not at all. What she feared was who she would find in the midst of the danger. Pulling her kimono sleeves higher, wrapping it around her, she kneeled down, her hand brushed the snow, red liquid smeared across her palm. It was as red as her kimono, a deep shade of crimson stained her pale fingers. The pungent smell filled her nostrils, grimacing physically at the malicious bloodshed. These drops weren't made by another animal. By the amount of blood loss, it was far bigger than a regular animal. She followed the trail is a determined manner, just needing to catch a glimpse of the intruder at least. Or possibly to stop him. there was a path etched shallowly in the snow, indicating dragging marks. Footsteps. Somebody was here, Rhyme deducted. He or she still was. They were only a small distance ahead, Rhyme slowed down, mentally preparing for what was soon to come. Whether it was a constellation she knew or not, they were hostile and definitely not looking for company up ahead.

Instincts made the hair at the nape of his neck rise in warning, as though someone was staring at him intently. It was impossible, he mused coolly, pausing a little in order to try and discern where the feeling was coming from. Only the animals that did not wish to give up on stolen territory stayed, like the wolf he was now pulling along. However, if he considered all angles, it was not impossible for another life to find its way here.

When Aeos and his brother had come, the tales of Aeos’ ability had spread far and wide because of the desertion of the forest. Wannabe heroes came in order to try and take it back. Seir had merely cast one look at the heroes and told Aeos to not leave a single soul alive. They had never been strong enough, neither to down him nor to escape his sword. However, even with them all dead, word somehow still spread. Aeos could tell; rumors and gossip were just that persistent. But, at least, it had taken a better turn than the one the icy Constellation expected. Instead of heroes coming by the flocks and dozens, they thinned and dissipated. They were all too afraid.

So it was unexpected to note there was another sliver of life besides himself and Seir in the forest. Turning around, he released the wolf and scanned his surrounding.

He managed to hide his surprise well on his face when his pale blue eyes landed upon Rhyme’s very red form. She was as stark a contrast as blood against the light, snowy background when she stepped into view. Aeos scanned her, noting absently that she seemed to have remained… mostly unchanged. So different from he. Still, despite memories of a grand performance on a stage in a village far off, Rhyme was still an intruder.

Without a greeting, Aeos tugged his swords out of their sheath. The blood of the animal the Constellation had not quite killed slid down the sharp edge of a blade as he lifted up one of the weapons in an unwelcoming motion.

PostPosted: Sat Sep 26, 2009 12:06 am

The sound of metal had Rhyme swiftly turning around, the image of Aeos with one of his weapons raised in front of her, the bloody weapon aimed at nobody else but her. Eyes flashed briefly, her hand reached out frantically, her harp forming in her hand. Rhyme ran a finger of a string, summoning a sudden burst of crystal as her barrier, the shape was rocky and unstable, cracking under the pressure of Aeos's sword. The unrefined shape and the fragile density of her mineral revealed how shaken up Rhyme was.

"What are you doing, Aeos?!" She yelled at the cold aloof expression in front of her, unable to recognize the cold glint in the eyes of a constellation who once played on stage with her. Unless.. it wasn't Aeos. The more reasonable conclusion. This couldnt be Aeos. Just a constellation who looked remarkably like him. Right? Perhaps a twin. Sliding back on the snow, she put a fair distance between herself and the other constellation.

".. Who are you?" She asked in an accusing manner, taking in Aeos's bloody appearance. It pained Rhyme to see the fading shine of the wolf's eyes in behind Aeos, the blood on Aeos's appearance. What would happen if this was Aeos after all?

She had asked who he was. Had she forgotten him so easily?

No, that was unlikely. She had called his name before that. Rhyme simply could not believe that he was in front of her.

Aeos supposed that was all the more reason to kill her quick, before she believed in the truth. It would be less cruel to allow Rhyme to believe that a beloved friend was not this ruthless killer. However, it wasn’t as though he should care about it either. Absently, he cut his blades through the air sharply, flicking blood on to the snow. Cold eyes slid back up to Rhyme, a careless smile reaching his lips that did not match the deadened quality of his eyes.

“Who do you think I am, Miss Rhyme?” His voice was calm, cutting through the air like his swords, with a low masculinity to it. He moved forwards, steps light and quick in order to reach her faster. With the surroundings layered in snow, ice was tremendously easy to form. The month or more he had spent here had made the forest Aeos’ entirely territory. “My name is Aeos, now and as it has always been.” Ice seemed to sprout from the snow like buds of flowers unraveling, shifting snow and land beneath their feet. It coated the soft white on top first with a thin layer of ice, and then thickening it as it went down. In a way, he was trying to stop her crystals from forming. And if the way he’d broken the crystals so easily the first time was any indication, Rhyme was afraid. If he could just keep her in that state of mind…

Aeos stepped up against the slant of an ice and used the position to launch at the musical Constellation with blades ready.

PostPosted: Sat Sep 26, 2009 2:33 am

Who was this constellation standing before her? Uncertainty creeped into her mind, her unstable state growing more frenzied and panicked with each word that came out of Aeos's lips.

He knows my name. He knows it. A stranger wouldn't know my name. That formal manner is the same.. but--- his voice..? It's back?

His voice and appearance had transformed. There was no longer the gentle constellation who had appeared before her. His voice was painful to hear, her trembling hands covering her ears. Even with her ears covered, her eyes stared at him in disbelief, she could still hear his sharp words, his acrid tone shattering her memories of him as easily as one could crack a mirror. "Aeos's music was kind--! He wasnt a cold blooded killer.." Rhyme's voice raised higher in pitch in a questioning tone, her pale complexion seeming even paler. Her kimono was disheveled and wet with weight from the wet snow. Rhyme seemed at a loss for words. Was the past Aeos an act? Or something else? Her wavering resolve.. it couldnt take over at this time of battle. not when Aeos was coming to attack.. ----- wait, coming to attack? He really meant to kill her. He wasn't holding back. Her fingers couldnt pull the strings on her harp properly, the stiff fingers from the cold weather nearly dropping the harp. She threw herself into the snow out of the way, realizing her life was in peril. Fingers hastily running over her harp once more, a cluster of crystal vines seized Aeos's feet and sword, attempting to hold the man temporarily for the time being.

"Your voice seems to be back. Did you.. kill all those people that went in here? What in the world happened here, Aeos?!" Rhyme wasn't expecting an answer. but she desperately wanted one. Aeos's voice.. his 'newfound' blood thirst.. Everything was wrong. Otherwise.. she would have to get serious. Several strings on her harp created a large pink crystalized hammer as her weapon of the moment, the harp disappearing into spots of bright light. Both hands clutching the giant hammer, ready to attack. Rhyme clutched her fingers tightly into her palms, the pain bringing sensation and color back into her hands but it wasn't for that reason. Her nails dug into her palm, awaiting an answer as she looked over Aeos's appearance. if he continued to persist.. well, would Rhyme flee or would Rhyme stay? Fleeing was the more reasonable option.. she had no obligation to stay. If she stayed, she couldnt go lightly against Aeos.

((Sorry. that was to restrain him temporarily. if you want him to break out of it, go ahead <3 ))

((Okay, sorry, drama and angst should end here. XD; ILL MAKE RHYME FIGHT SRSLY SOON OK 8D ))

“Things happen,” Aeos said simply. “Because we live, we change. It is something that simply occurs even if no eyes watch…” He tightened his grip on his sword and watched her pale exterior with cold, empty eyes. He’d seen so many battles this month alone, more before he and Seir made it their temporary home. The constellation lifted up his sword, angled it carefully and used the blade to smash the crystalline vines twisting to enclose him at his feet.

Letting a cold breath escape his lifts, Aeos closed his eyes for a moment and let her speak. He wasn’t going to answer the questions, but it was almost heartwarming to hear words filled with concern, even if a little. Opening his eyes, the constellation did not seem particularly surprised at seeing the large crystal hammer in the female’s hand. It did seem somewhat curious how she could bear such a weight, but Aeos guessed it was like asking why his ice and her quartz moved to their will. There were just questions that would be a waste to ask and answer. “Listen,” he murmured softly to her. “There was once a time we were friends. Here in this land, it is no longer true. I am no longer your friend nor are you mine.”

He lifted his sword again and pointed it at her to catch her attention despite knowing it was all on him. Where else could it be in this frozen forest? ”Now, you will fight me or die, Miss Rhyme. All of your other choices were made when you decided to venture into this forest.”

The Ice Constellation didn’t wait. He bent his knees and sprung into the air towards her with his wings pressed tightly against his back so it could not misalign his target. Aeos slashed one of the blades downward, another coming from the side. Whilst Aeos could simply aim at her, he targeted the hammer instead. He intended to break down her defenses before, finally, killing her.

Aeos answers could only leave Rhyme to assume that most of the gory deeds had been, indeed, done by Aeos himself. Preparing herself for another acrid answer next, she was surprised to hear the next sentence from Aeos's soft voice.

"So in this land, we're enemies." She repeated softly, her voice catching the emphasis. Perhaps.. something in this land had control over Aeos? Certainly, he couldnt have a change or heart or his voice back without some action triggering the change. "You're still the same Aeos.. even if you've changed a little bit." A 'little bit' severely understated it. She stared up at him with a renewed resolve in her eyes, although resolve for what, one couldnt see. She certainly wasn't about to kill him. She didnt appear to be fleeing either. "Thanks for the warning, Aeos." Her wavering hesitant air seemed to have dispersed, filled with a small sense of relief. At the very least, Aeos did not use to opportunity to stab her. Instead, he had said kind words. As kind as it could be considering they were enemies anyways. But all she had to go, was to somehow get him back to normal, right?

Gosh, he was fast. Rhyme's eyes almost couldnt keep up with him, the disadvantage of not having wings was to lessen one's own speed. But to have wings.. well Aeos demonstrated that quality quite well. "Don't underestimate me, my crystal's not that easy to break!" She growled, revealing that her unsteady state before had been the cause of the fragile crystal. But Aeos had probably deduced that anyways. The metal of the swords hit against the crystal hammer, the hardened mineral refused to be broken by the pressure of the sword. Aeos, his merciless expression before hers was within range. Rhyme jumped back, abandoning her hammer, her harp forming instantaneously in one hand to once more capture Aeos's feet with vines. It only needed to hold him for a split second as the hammer broke into thousands of crystal shards, intending to make small cuts all over Aeos's body. She stepped back, nearly tripping in the snow, her weight sagging in the soft mound of snow. It took her a moment to pull her feet out of the snow to regain footing on more solid ground.

Another flurry of notes was strung as a large crystal shell was encased around Aeos, jumping back on a low tree branch. This environment is too much of his advantage. Perhaps, I should flee..How much distance is it from here to the exit? As long as I leave.. I dont think Aeos would come after me. I cannot win an an environment that completely belongs to him.

Aeos has only a few beats in time to react to hammer as it broke into a thousand pieces. He knew it wasn’t by his own strength because his first hit hadn’t created more than a chip to the weapon. The fact didn’t make him falter, but it did make him change his mind. Her fragile state of mind had been resolved; no longer could Aeos rely on her inability to form strong crystals in order to get at her. He would have to use another tactic and find another weakness to use against her.

Aeos absently noted that she had her harp back again, and the same vines were trying to trap him into staying in one place. Ah, so there was one weakness he could exploit if he were fast enough. He’d have to come after her himself. However, he first had to deal with the crystal shards from the hammer, all of which intended to slice him apart. Mouth pursing, the Constellation made used the environment. The temperature became more sharply cold and biting. As it would take too much time to individually create counters for each of Rhyme’s crystals, Aeos concentrated and formed a one-sided shield of ice.

He sent it flying against the crystalline pieces, pushing a majority of them to the ground where the chunk of ice crashed. With the remaining ones that he did not block, Aeos ignored them as they bit into his skin. A little pain couldn’t (wouldn’t) deter him. Turning to the vines, the icy constellation coated the crystals with ice to slow their growth and used the hilt of his swords to break them into pieces until he was free.

Aeos took to the air, wings easily grasping the wind and directing him. Circling her for a moment, he turned the surrounding snow to ice, solidifying it so it would be even more difficult for Rhyme to run on top of a soaked kimono. He dived down at her then, discreetly coating a thin layer of ice over the sharpened edge of his swords so the reach was longer but invisible. The crystals formed when she struck her harp; the constellation just had to hit it before she pulled out a note.

PostPosted: Sun Sep 27, 2009 8:19 pm

Aeos wouldnt let her flee. As he said, it was kill or to be killed. Her kimono was far too heavy now, wondering what she should do with it. She couldnt keep wearing it.. but it was her favorite kimono too. But it wouldnt do to fight with it. Why hadn't she prepared herself for fighting, she scolded herself. As Aeos blocked himself from her attack, she used the little time to shorten her kimono with a sharp jagged edge of a crystal shard. The length was now above her knees, just about to finish as Aeos dived down at her with his sword.

--- There was no time to react. The ray of the sun revealed the invisible icy tip but by the time Rhyme realized it, her mind has grasped that it was too late. Her harp wasn't a weapon. It couldn't defend her. Nor could Rhyme allow it to get damaged. For it to be damaged was to lose the item that channeled her powers. Without the harp, Rhyme wasn't sure what would happen, the instrument kept the crystal spirits within her control. It was also a far too important part of herself to let Aeos damage it. Even without her harp, Aeos was in far too close contact for Rhyme to summon crystal on her own to defend. She couldnt fall behind, no branches to soften her fall. They were too far of a distance up, the fall would damage her, having no wings to land with.

Clutching her harp tightly, Shutting her eyes tightly for what she imaged would inevitably happen next, she struggled to accept that this may be her last final moment. but her eyes opened as the sound of metal meeting metal clanged loudly before her.

A constellation, dressed in a dark pirate cloak with a hat, stood before Rhyme, his sword pressed harshly against Aeos's swords. "How about a different opponent?" His smirked, mouth widening in a cat like smile. Pushing Aeos's sword back to slash at the other, the slash leaving green sparkles in it's path.

"Ikuto!" Rhyme called out, in surprise, a hand on the tree for support. her eyes widened, no doubt, wondering why he was here.

"Told you a kimono wouldn't work for the occasion." He said, looking back briefly, taking note of her disheveled form. He looked at her with a stern expression, the look telling her that they needed to flee. Rhyme was tired and unprepared, in no condition to fight.

"Sorry Aeos. I'll be taking her with me, if you don't mind." He grinned widely, scanning the other constellation with the curiosity of a soldier yet the disinterest of a cat. Aeos didn't interest him. But as an enemy, Ikuto needed to know what Aeos could do.

As his swords clashed against another sword, Aeos regarded the new Constellation through the green sparks in a manner than expressed nothing of what he was thinking. “I don’t particularly care,” the Constellation murmured. “Just have it on your head that your survival is based on your skill.” Of course, he had not been able to sense intruder, at least, not far back enough that Aeos could consider rearranging his plans to include the possibility of Ikuto intruding upon his current fight. His wings flashed open and beat sharply against the air, tossing the Constellation back in a graceful flip that allowed him to land on his feet.

His icy eyes continued to stare at the two without speaking, gauging. “You can make relations with even a pirate, I see,” Aeos remarked quietly, keeping a mental tab on Rhyme despite having most of his attention on the new opponent in case she did something unexpected… like produce another protector out of thin air. The battle would take longer and he wasn’t sure Seir would be patient enough to keep waiting. And, if Seir came, the battle would be even more chaotic. He had to finish this up soon, take the wolf (probably dead by now) back to camp, and cook it.

White wisps of breath spilled out from his mouth as he exhaled and slammed the sides of his fists heavily against the icy ground. Large slabs of ice, and even some smaller ones, seemed to spit out from the ground like gigantic arrows aimed to pierce through their bodies. Although he did not usually have to make such exaggerated motions to do, Aeos found that it did help to toss energy into manipulating ice to form quickly and powerfully.

PostPosted: Sun Sep 27, 2009 10:28 pm

"We'll see, won't we?" Ikuto's arrogance front didnt quite match what he was feeling on the inside. Sweat dripped down his face, despite the freezing temperature, his limbs shaking slightly. His posture, although steady before, seemed to have lost it's confidence. Rhyme stared at his limping posture with a worried expression, realizing the distance Ikuto must have traveled to get into the forest. Ikuto was so dangerously close to collapsing.. yet he saved her. The distance from her village to here was quite large and for him to have covered it.. news of her disappearance must have reached him.

"Surprised?" She replied back sarcastically to Aeos, her hand on Ikuto's back as he leaned his weight against the large structure of the dead tree. "No. Don't get back up. Pretend it all you want but your fatigue is clear. Leave the rest to me." She said firmly, cutting off Ikuto's silent protests, shaking her head. The remainders of her cut kimono became buried under the snow, her hands pressed together, opening wide to form her harp once more. An angry look took over her serene expression, angry partly at herself for the fact that she needed Ikuto to come the distance to save her. If she hadn't come in the first place.. she wouldnt be in this position.

Even as the ice spikes traveled towards her, her fingers continued to drum across the strings, seeming unfazed by the threat of being pierced by a dozen spikes. Behind her loomed a large crystal shape, her eyes meeting Ikuto's blue eyes. This attack would take a lot of energy out of her. Enough energy so that she wouldnt be able to form another large attack but enough for defensive moves. But hopefully, they could escape with this attack. An immensely large pink dragon suddenly dived out from behind the tree, it's mouth opening to crush the ice with it's teeth. it moved swiftly, snaking through the open area, ice slabs hitting it, shattering themselves into large fragments against the hardened crystal. Other ice slabs were crushed through it's teeth, heading directly towards the icy constellation with mouth gaping wide, as if to swallow him.

"Now!" Rhyme yelled to Ikuto, taking Ikuto's hand in her pale ones, jumping to the ground, running through the snowy landscape. An explosion of crystal and snow boomed loudly behind her, an air of mist taking over the area. She didn't want to look back, in fear of delay and that Aeos might not have been defeated and she had to concentrate on the snowy trek in front of her. Which was the way out? Everywhere they looked just showed a white horizon..

Watching as an immensely large dragon made of pink quartz rose up into the air, Aeos’ icily bland expression did not change. His gaze focused with cool calm at the creation, thoughts already swirling with how to counter it. In terms of strength, ice tended to break faster than stone. It was, after all, merely frozen water. Still, despite the incomparability, ice was better than flesh when it came to protection.

Letting out a cool breath, Aeos watched Rhyme and Ikuto with rising anticipation. He lifted his palms away from the snowy ground and readjusted his grip on his two swords. The timing had to be just right in or it would be a painful impact, indeed.

“Now!” The foolish cry sent the two running and the dragon flew towards him. Aeos didn’t bother to dodge, since he was not quite sure whether Rhyme had sent it to automatically follow him even if he flew. He narrowed his eyes and waited for the quartz dragon to come, and then sent a mirroring image of ice bursting against the dragon’s side. The resulting sound as they both impacted was loud, sending vibrations of the roaring sound everywhere. Aeos could only stand his ground and shield his eyes as they slammed together, his ice meaning to divert the quartz elsewhere.

It worked, sort of. Although the majority of the quartz had been shifted, it still had managed to clip his left arm. Cold, slightly glowing blue blood spilled from the gash. Shifting it even slightly hurt, but he still had to find Rhyme and Ikuto.

Letting out an icy breath, Aeos opened his wings and flew. “…You won’t escape,” he whispered, no telltale sign of weakness in the cool tones of his voice.

PostPosted: Thu Oct 08, 2009 8:10 pm

At last, they found a small cave to take shelter in, hidden along the cliffs covered in snow. They couldnt hide out in the open, their colored clothes were a dead giveaway, itwould be asking Aeos to find them. She hid their tracks along the way, steps heading in so many directions of the snow, it was hard to figure out which direction out of ten different paths they had traveled.

"I'm so sorry, Ikuto." Rhyme buried her whispered apology in her long kimono sleeve as she put his leaning frame down against the wall.

"Don't apologize. We---gotta go Rhyme. Now." He said softly, gripping his knee, trying to stand up. He kept his expression carefully free of pain, extending a hand to Rhyme, a sleeve wiping her tears away. Tipping his pirate how lower over his eye, he lifted his eyepatch to take a better look around. "From his words, I'm assuming he might let us go depending on whether we can escape or not from his territory." Ikuto took a peek outside, unable to spy any movement amongst the scenery. His back was against the wall, his form caught within the cave's shadows as he looked outside. But that didn't mean Aeos wasn't nearby.

"Next time, you might just want to listen to me." He stated, gesturing for Rhyme to step closer to his position.

Rhyme shook her head, knowing what Ikuto was seeing outside. "There's no cover. We can only make a mad dash for it or rest for now. Either way, he has a high chance of finding us." How did one win in another's element? The whole scenery didnt allow enemies to escape. After all, that attack was probably not enough to put Aeos down. If they were lucky, there might be enough time to escape. But considering his ice element, the crystal probably didn't knock him down.

She tugged on the edge of Ikuto's coat, murmuring several soft words of thanks, knowing she might not get a chance to say them again. If Aeos found them, there would surely be no mercy this time around. At all.

The cave was icy, full of slush. However, there were puddles of water that had surprisingly not frozen in the mess.
In the darker regions of the cave, the black Constellation blended in with the shadows and floated in slumber.
Noises and whispers echoed in the cave, ringing in his ears. Dull eyes opened for a moment and blinked before his
body pulsed with a soft blue glow. He peered at the two that had disturbed his sleep, or rather—not so much as
disturbed as much as came at the right time to wake him up. His sleepiness gave way to amusement, a slow smile
creeping up to his lips.

They were obviously running from something, given their exhausted states. If they were here for an excursion, their
looks of panic and wariness wouldn’t be there. Given the time and place, there could only be one person they were
running from… and that was his half-brother, Aeos. He only knew because they were his orders, after all.

‘Leave no one.’

Seir smiled and considered what his next method of actions would be. They were literally sitting ducks in here,
simply because he was here. The one who commanded and planned it all. He floated out of the darkness and…
splashed water on them. “My.. Constellations in this weather? What are you doing here?” The Constellation asked
with a curious expression. “You must realize the dangers of traveling to this forest because of its… current
inhabitants, don’t you?”

He eyed the two, amusement flickering in his glowing eyes. “If this is a honeymoon, it’s the worse place you could
have found. Honest.”
