when i was 14ish i was curious as to how guitars worked so i ripped it apart, and made a wireing diagram on scratch paper b4 i pulled anything, when i put it back together i added a zebra stripe style to the pickgaurd with my model paint and a black trim line to the headstock (didnt turn out well)

after a while the pickups gave out and it sat for a few months nothing but a noiseless shell, untill my uncle who runs a sound studio /repair shop came across some anchient early 70's EMG SA pickups in one of his closets i had mentioned to him i like emg's and that my strat needed redoing so he gave them to me as a christmas/birthday present, and i wired them up, this is about the same time i got my Ibanez RG 570 so last christams-ish
(christmas 200 cool

Recently ive been feeling adventureus so i decided it needed to be refinished. Haven't painted much in my life but i knew if i was gonna make it look right it had to be spray paint so i bought a few cans and set to work useing some techniques i had seen on tv and the internet on how to make a sunburst and a bit of beginers luck u have this:

it looks better in person, now the issue is when i origanaly wired up the SA's only the neck and bridge pickups worked, if it was set to anything other than bridge orneck it was a kill and made no sound at all, and t further confuse the matter the first tone knob acted as a 2ndary volume for the neck pickup.

Problem:
after i put it all back together after the paint i notesed if i eased the master volume back to 80% or lower the mid pickup would work again and when the volume was at full it generated an odd but interesting sounding distortion when played, but makes almost no trebble range, the third tone knob has yet to do anything. I am stumped on this, i checked all the connections there all good, double checked the diagram, its wired right so..... idk wtf happened to her (but it sounds rlly kewl with that oddball distortion when playing a rythem)

I really can't help you, but is it any consolation to know that it looks really cool?

Wow. Looks really good. But maybe one of the wires has a short in it?

It's very difficult to say what's gone wrong with this but I'll explain what I would do to troubleshoot:

You've got a problem with the electronics, so the first thing to check is whether you've got all the bits working right or not.

1. visual inspection. Is all the wiring done well? When you connected your leads, did you properly strip wires, tin your leads and make solid connections without cold-solder points? Are there great big globs of solder hiding connections that weren't properly made? Fix any and all issues with your wiring.
If you need help doing this here's a link: it's got some very useful and practical information on soldering techniques and good practice. http://www.technick.net/public/code/cp_dpage.php?aiocp_dp=how_to_solder

2. Test components - I would make sure that each pot works correctly, ie goes from 0 to 250Kohm. I'd do this by connecting an Ohm-meter to the two outside terminals of a pot, then turning the pot and watching the meter. I have a sneaking suspicion that you will need to replace your potentiometers if they were anywhere near the spray can when it was spraying. Dust, grime and filth are the Kryptonite of potentiometers.

Double check your switch to make sure it's working properly. plug the guitar into a clean channel of an amplifier and test each pickup configuration ensuring proper switch operation.

Lastly, if nothing else seems to work and you've replaced your switches, wires and pots, it's time to look at the pickups and see if somehow they've gone south. from the picture it seems like you painted them. In hindsight this was probably a bad idea.

3. Fix the issues, replace parts and get shredding; make sure action, intonation and neck relief are set and you're good to go.

I know this is late but I hope it helps you out.
