So, I want ya'lls opinion on this..
I'll just copy and paste the article, it'll be easier.
Religous Signs Banned from High School Friday 09-25-2009 11:17pm ET
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - A high school tradition for more than twenty years has now been banned at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School in Georgia.
After a complaint to the Catoosa County Superintendent, the school system opted to ban cheerleader signs that deliver a religious message such as a Bible verse.
A parent emailed the Channel 3 Eyewitness Newsroom early on Friday to tell us the cheerleaders spent all summer making signs with an "inspirational" message. The cheerleaders, according to this parent, are disappointed that the football players will not be allowed to run through their signs.
One recent sign read: "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. Timothy 1:7."
We contacted the school system for comment.
Communications Specialist Marissa Brower tells us, "Due to the separation of church and state, the school system can't take a position on religious matters. While we don't necessarily agree that all religious messages need to be banned, we are required to follow the law."
"Federal courts have prohibited religious messages during football games and we must comply with the law."
So, what do you guys think?
Update: 9/18 Tomorrow, the 19th, they are having a rally (kinda like the Tea Party rally thing) supporting our cheerleaders.
The arugement is this: The teachers did not force the cheerleaders to paint the verses, did not tell them what to put. The staff does not force the football players to run through it. It is all student organized. Banning this would be like banning the football players from praying before the game if they lead it.

I don't have a problem with religous things on signs and everything, but I think that they should have known better than to put something like that on a sign. There are a lot of people who are extremely touchy about those kinds of subjects so using those signs could result in people getting upset and angry over something that simple...

((I see a flag! heart ))
I think its kind of stupid, but the law is the law, the school has to follow it or get into super trouble.

xXHiddenXTearsXx ((I see a flag! heart )) I think its kind of stupid, but the law is the law, the school has to follow it or get into super trouble. But the law doesnt exactly say that.... student are allowed to "....engage in forms of religious speech in schools and on campuses--at least so long as their religious speech does not interfere with any legitimate objective of the school" Either way, was it really right to single out a christian group and ban their signs that they made to encourage the football guys and basically wish them good luck?.... once it gets to the point that their organization can't express their beliefs or give a word of inspiration, there is something seriously twisted in the administration.... in my opinion the signs dont violate or "interfere with any legitimate objective of the school", and they werent hurting anything.

Gah, we argued about this exact same topic in my Government class. Since its the cheerleaders doing the signs to display during the game, it brings to school into it.
Evidently, the house "seperation of church and state" thing means that they can't have a religious message of any kind of "Government sponsered" event AKA a high school football game.
Then, of course, I brought up prayer at NASCAR races. My teacher said "well, people buy tickets to that." They buy tickets for high school football games, too!
We have too many people getting butthurt over little things nowadays. An inspirational message isn't going to kill anyone, and you don't have to look at it if you don't want to.
