Dappled had never been much for sky watching, the stars tended to depress him. Like tiny shining gods looking down upon them, he wondered if they were really alone in this world. Trapped in this swamp..
Finding his mood dull and woeful he found his favorite sitting place underneath a heavily leaved tree, the vines hanging down low to nearly touch the ground. Seating himself there in the shade head against his hooves while he gazed up, always on the edge of their turf it seemed. Near enough to the others to feel safe yet far enough away so he didnt have to interact with them. The small grazing group that seemed to wander these fields at night. Maybe some company would have been nice though?
The buck mused on his thoughts, hardly paying attention to what lay around him...

As Stargazer munched on a bit of fruit, she stared off wistfully into the dark night sky. On this night, it almost appeared as if the moon was smiling down at her, and the stars were dancing in happiness. Ever since birth, Star had always felt a very close connection with the stars, and in truth, she longed to be one. To be free from the ground, from the swamp. Free to shine and laugh with all the other stars. And so looking at the stars every night brought her great joy, and also a splash of sadness, knowing that she would never truly be a star. But on each clear night, when the stars shone brightly, the lines between reality and fantasy blurred, and Star felt truly at peace among the stars...
The tiny crack! of a twig snapped Star out of her trance. She stood up and looked around her. To her right, underneath a tree, she could barely make out the silhouette of another Kimeti. She peered into the blackness. Was it a buck? Perhaps he enjoyed watching the stars too. She slowly began to make her way over to the shadowy figure...

Dappled let out a low huff of breath that stirred the grass, his head coming down heavily to rest across his hooves. His back legs tucked up beneath his body, tail curled about them, his front outstretched across the cool night grass.
Occasionally his ears flicked back and forth, noticing out of the corner of his eye, an approaching presence. It was unlike him to greet most, but he knew it would be rude to stay completely silent. "Hello.." it was a simple greeting, and he didnt feel like much else, eyes wanding away from the hidden figure and back to the night time sky. "I never noticed before, how many stars there are. Its impossible to count them you know..such innumerable things" he almost seemed to be talking to himself. His voice low and quiet, a step louder then a whisper.

Star looked at the dark-colored buck, musing over what he had just said. She looked back up at the glimmering stars and said, "The fact that the stars are innumerable... that's part of what makes them so beautiful." She closed her eyes and envisioned herself, laughing and dancing among the stars. She looked at the buck again. "You know... You yourself look like the night sky. I would give anything to look like that. Instead... Well, instead I ended up looking like a sunset. I guess that's alright though. The end of the day means the night is young, fresh and new, and just waiting to be explored." She stopped speaking quite suddenly and began to feel somewhat embarrassed. "I'm sorry. I tend to go on and on when I get talking."
Star let out a small sigh and lay down on the already dewy grass next to the silent buck. Resting her head gently against her front hooves, she inquired, "What is your name?"

The way she had said it sounded poetic, uplifting and sweet even, it caught dappled's attention enough to continue to listen to her. Her colors were interesting, and the closer she got the better he could see, a stark contrast to his own, as stark a contrast as their personality's apparently. He would never have been so optimistic about things..
"I do?" he'd never considered it, looking over his own coat he couldnt quite see the resemblance he had to the midnight sky.."Maybe in your eyes I do, heh honestly your colors remind me more of a song bird then a sunset." still he admired her, snickering softly as she abruptly cut herself off.
"I'm dappled despair, and I enjoy hearing your voice..I dont really talk much myself, so listening to someone else who does. Its very nice" he smiled softly, giving her a low nod as if asking her to join him. For some reason this doe didnt irritate him like others did, and he really could imagining himself listening to her all night long.
