It was a beautiful day, warm and sunny, with a subtle bite to the air.
The air was crisp as it gently lifted the back mare's long tresses. Though it was still autumn, it was clear that the good days wouldn't be around much longer. Winter was on its way.

Lowering her head to the ground and nudging her nose past the dying grasses of summer, Javera sought the still tender living blades of grass. Hoping for at least another few good meals before the sparseness of winter drove her and her two-legger to find warmer grounds with more plentiful food... for the both of them.

Trampling across the same spot over and over was a good way to make mud. Something Wayra new since he was a colt. And now here it was again. The ground under his feet was sinking. He hung his head lightly. Hooves stuck in the mud he let out a light whine. Another lesson... when trying to remove the mud it is best to go slowly... He could do slow. He snorted and looked out to see a mare just a bit away. He was just about to call out and then remembered... that he was stuck ankle deep in mud.

He huffed again and tried to pull at least one of his feet free. With a sick sucking sound his front hoof was released. He snorted and glanced back to the mare... ok just three more feet...

The faint wind carried the scent of another, and Javera started.
She hadn't been paying as much attention to her surroundings as she should have been, she'd been careless. Scolding herself, She promised to pay greater attention, and to that cause, she had her ears swivelling around trying to capture every sound. But first things first, she needed to finish her meal.

Hearing the sucking squelch of something being pulled out of the mud, Javera knew it was time to stop eating and see just who, and/or what was nearby. Lifting her head away from the forage she'd found, she lightly tossed her tresses so they would be out of her face and she could get a good look at whoever it was that was nearby. She prayed fervently that who and whatever it was they were friendly.

Deep brown eyes scanned the plains, and she tensed slightly as she saw the chesnut stallion. How was it that he'd gotten so close without her knowing? Javera berated herself silently. She was growing far too soft. Her muscles tensed as she waited for him to make the first move.

Ok so one out three in. He looked pointedly at his free hoof and then at his stuck front hoof. Finding a safe place to place his hoof he set his foot down. He glanced at the mare....oh no...she noticed him... maybe she hadn't noticed he was stuck. He tossed his head lightly and tugged at his front hoof.

The mud made the same sickly sound as before and he pinned his ears back. Ok his front feet free he tried to move his back hooves. Nope still stuck... He placed his other hoof on safe ground. Turning slightly to look at his back feet he sighed. With a grunt he pushed himself forward and his hooves came free...thank... He looked at the mare... she had just seen it all... He looked at the ground and took a deep breath. Moving slowly he raised his head to look at her. Well he wouldn't probably see her again... he was about 5 and he had only seen her maybe once... then again... there were many black mares...

He snorted lightly. "Hello... I'm Wayra..."

The mare watched, with some trepidation at first, as the stallion freed himself from his muddy prison. Had it been someone she was familiar with, she'd have likely offered her aid, but as it was, one could never be too careful. And now that she was thinking clearly, she would be far more careful then before. Trepidation turned to amusement, amusement to laughter. She just couldn't help herself, it was rather funny, watching him trying to free himself, and the expressions that flashed across his face.

But the laughter wasn't polite, and as her muscles untensed, she knew she should at least try to control herself. So with a few deep breaths and snorts as she attempted to control herself, the mare drifted cautiously over. She faltered a little bit as he introduced himself, but gathering her courage, Javera answered calmly, steadily.

"Greetings. My name is Javera."

He eyed the mare curiously and then perked his ears forward. "Its nice to meet you." He looked at his mud pit, then Javera. "You didn't happen to miss my little show did you?" You just don't embarrass the cool kids... He shook his head lightly gave a short snort. "I mean...if you did...thats cool but if you didn't..." he laughed at himself.

"I swear im not usually this bad... I was just running ... and when i got stuck... and then you were... i mean... it was good that you were there i wasn't saying... i mean...." he stopped himself... He was usually really good at talking to mares... but then again most didn't see him struggling to save himself from the mud....

He glanced once more at his mud pit before sighing

((*so gonna change his age* he should be maybe 5... yeah...))

The day was warm and inviting. Szad looked at the hills and trees on the horizon as a tiny smile formed on his face. His ears flicked from side to side, reacting to the sounds of life. He walked on. His thick, and silky feathering brushing the earth. The breeze was light and gentle, he walked on, looking for a nice and quiet place to graze.

He was shy, horribly shy. He enjoyed the company of two-leggers, preferable his own, but other horses were so frightening to him. He knew that his two-legger wished for him to go and meet other horses and make friends. But the thought was so scary for him. He enjoyed his solitude and preferred the gentle sounds and songs of nature to the talk and whinnies of other mustangs. He could even hear talking in his head. It sounded so real, but he knew it wasn't. He knew there was no one there, he was just imagining it. He closed his eyes and continued to walk adjacent to the forest. The voices he was hearing were real though, and he knew that once he opened his eyes and saw two horses standing not far from him. He froze in fear.

Where previously her laughter had been slightly mocking and gently derisive, her current laughter at her companions awkwardness was good-natured trying to ease the discomfort and tension. When two were strangers, the best way to become aquaintences or at least at ease, was through laughter.

At least that was what her dam had always said, when she was a little filly, and even more recently, her two-legger encouraged this. Yes, laughter was the best thing.

"Take a deep breath." 'Vera suggested." It's fine. Everyone has their own moments after all. Take a step back, it's realy not anything to be so nervous about."

She walked closer, eyes down trying to not fall into the pit Wayra had just gotten out of. Her lip curled with distaste. "And just where did this come from? It's almost winter after all."

The gentle breeze carried the sound of hoofbeats from nearby. And Javera turned to see just what other newcomer the warmth of the day had brought. She was intrigued to find a much stockier horse then herself, and quite captivated. She took a few hesitant steps forwards, hoping the newcomer was also friendly.

It was a bright day that had met Siska when he had opened his eyes from slumber. He appreciated the light, for it meant more time to travel--but truthfully, he preferred dark clouds to the blinding sun. There was just something comforting about them... something peaceful. Unlike most other horses, Siska did not mind the darkness. He was a full grown stallion now, and quite strong. He had left his herd far behind him in his younger years, and had traveled alone ever since, gaining what wisdom the land would grant him. He was more than able to fend off predators and survive on his own--and that was how he liked it.

Instead of traveling through the forest, he had decided to spend the day on the open plains. It was not long before he heard voices in front of him, and his ears perked forward to discern the sounds. As he breached a small hillock, he discovered three more mustangs, standing at random intervals, not exactly in the company of each other, but close to it. With a small sigh, he kept his path straight, hoping that they would not hinder him in his travels, but not concerned enough to take a different route.

Wayra did just what she suggested. He took a deep breath. He turned when Javera did and was about to answer her question when he too noticed the other stallion. He looked over the silver horse judging carefully his size verses the new stallions. So to look big all he had to do was never go near the big grey horse. He nodded at that thought. Then he saw how the mare seemed to be in a welcoming mood. So maybe he should play nice too? Well it wasn't too bad...

So the choice was be nice and be short or standoffish and maybe feel tall... He chose the first. He walked toward the stallion. "Hel-" He heard more hoof beats coming. Turning to glance over he saw another stallion coming down the hill. He watched the one coming and the one frozen fr equal amounts of time. Sociability was always a good thing, but there was a reason he wasn't always near the herd.

With one more deep breath he turned and looked at the large stallion. "Well...hello." Tossing his head to look at the newest comer he frowned. something about that stallion just seemed to say stay away.

Szad was frozen. His hooves glued firmly to the earth, his muscles unresponsive. But at least now he knew those voices were not imaginary. He did not know what to do. Here he was, caught off guard by two...no, he heard more hoof steps and he could see the other dark stallion. There were three....Three stallions. Complete strangers.

Szad's mind spun quickly. He had to run. He had to escape and find a quiet, isolated place to calm down. Being around others made him so horrified. He was afraid. This scene was just too familiar to one in his childhood. The one that made him so shy and afraid of life. He needed to run.

To run away and never come back. His leg twitched with tension.

Not only did the day carry a warm sun and mild temperature, but apparently the sound of nearby voices as well. It really wasn't her fault for not paying attention to them any time sooner, for it had been but a mere mumble on the wind at the time. Curious ears swiveled in the direction of the voices, as the wind brought the scents of the nearby strangers. A group of them, although their numbers were unobtainable by scent alone, and none of them carried the stench of familiarity.

The mare snorted to herself, as if that had ever made a difference to her. She was not the sort of mustang to shy away from a stranger's company, and was quite curious as to the influx of mustangs that had suddenly sprang up in the area. So, with her mind made up, the flaxen-maned mare set out in the direction of the growing group, unaware of the current situation, and yet unbothered by the fact.

It wasn't long before the scene came into her sights, and she was able to discern just exactly how many were down there. A total of three- no, hold on, make that four. Four strangers. From her little vantage point down-wind of the gathering she halted and set her ears forward, curious and watching. For now, at least.

The sound of even more hoof beats were carried on the wind, and Javera perked up. The group just kept growing larger, and she found herself eager to meet the rest of those around- provided they weren't vicious- and hoped to make friends. But she kept her focus on the grey stallion for now, seeing the tenseness of his muscles, the scent of fear? or something like very obvious. She needed to show that she wasn't a threat, that in fact she was very friendly.

Pitching her already soft voice even lower she greeted him. "Good day. My name is Javera. What is your name?"

She paused in her movements a few paces away. It wouldn't do to frighten him after all! Keeping one eye trained on him, she looked around to find the source of the other hoofbeats the wind carried to her sensitive ears. She grinned at the unexpected sight of another black, like her, even as she noticed his touch me not, stay away attitude. That one, she didn't think she'd approach unless he said something first.

There was also another one, one that she debated about. The flaxen maned one seemed to just appear out of nowhere and confidently strode into what looked like could turn into a volatile situation. 'Vera would just have to see how events rolled out.

Honestly, she hadn't even imagined her day being so eventful after leaving the safety of her two-leggers range, but really, she couldn't have been happier.

Siska watched carefully as yet another horse joined the small yet growing group, or at least traveled nearer to it. She was dark with a flaxen mane, almost similar to him, except his coat was much darker, and his mane much lighter. However, he could sense the proud spirit within her in the way that she carried herself, and also the strength from the play of her muscles.

He watched the largest of the mustangs, though he was confused on exactly what he was. Sure, there were bigger horses on the planes, but he has never seen one with such a build, and the strange featherings on his fetlocks. Perhaps he was from a distant land? But he didn't seem to be much of a threat. Siska could see his uneasiness even from where he stood on the hill, and cared not for him one bit.

He moved on to the next mare. She was black, more than he. A single white sock covered one foreleg, a stark contrast from the rest of her body. It struck Siska as rather bold, even though it was not by choice--and a strange glimmer formed in his eyes as he watched that one.

Lastly, he saw the chesnut stallion, a bit younger than he was. His hooves were covered in mud, and tracks behind him led Siska to believe that he had been stuck in it. What a fool.

Though he would rather have moved on, and not bothered with the other mustangs, he could not help but feel curious about them. It was not often that five lone horses would suddenly meet up with each other... so he turned from his path and cantered their way, enjoying the way his strong muscles carried him. He loved the wind, for one thing. Though he preferred the darkness, he would always love the wind, and the way it played about him as he ran. It was an intimate thing, he supposed.

He stopped a few yards away from the initial gathering, watching the others' for their reactions. His sharp blue eyes scrutinized as much as they observed, for he had no fear of showing distaste or hostility.

Szad's mind flew with thoughts. Each one pushing into the first, trying to take his attention. They were spontaneous and sudden. It made him even more frightened of the group, that seemed to be swelling before his eyes. run. Run now! But my bonder told me to try to be friendly.... Where to run to? There are even more appearing! Where are they coming from? Is it just coincidence that so many horses meet up in one place, never seeing each other before....?
Szad let out a sharp gasp at the last thought. Coincidence....? No. It had to be fate. All these lone horses just finding each other. It must have some meaning. He clenched his teeth together, his legs feeling like they were about to snap. There is a reason for this.... Just then he heard the black mare's introduction. At first it made him jump inside, but then he took control. He would try, try with all his might, to overcome his fear. He would try to be friendly. If he were to only exchange names, that would still be a huge step.

He opened his mouth, but no words came. He closed it and opened again. Was his voice broken? He searched for it and forced as many words as he could muster. "I...Szad....nice meet.....you.....ma'am"
